My family has a 8 year old pitbull, she is the most sweetiest and loving dog ihave ever had, its not the dogs fault on how they were brought up..its just like how our children are rasied. you know what i mean dont ban these beautiful animals
this is rediculous. anydog could go out and attack someone , but to blame it on a specific dog is awful. i have a Stratfordshire terrior and he is the most loving dog and loves to play and just loves everyone. i have heard of dalmations attacking people and noone is banning them, or what about rotwielers or doberman pinchers they ahve attacked people and stuff and they arent banned. oh and by the way noone is going to abide by this stupid law andif you passed it do you accually think that people would checkwith the people. so this i a dumb law and i should not be passed
I my self have a pit and he is nothing but sweet and so nice to others.. He is an inside dog and sleeps and watches T.V. with me.. he loves to cuddle with everyone. It is not the breed that should be danned its how they are raised.. If you raise a pit with love they will only return love back.. I have been wanting to move to a different state/city but I cant move because people hate pits and its terrible.. I will not get rid of him and im still looking for a place that I can take him. He is the best, sweetest, and cleaest dog that I have ever had.. so No to the banning of pits..
my sister has a pitbull, and i have never met a sweeter dog. People should not judge pitbulls simply by their bad reputation they suffer due to abusive owners. There is no such thing as a bad dog, there are only bad owners.
The owners of dogs should be held responsible for the actions as dogs are trained to behave badly. These owners will just move on to other breeds like rotti or german shepards are you going to try to banned all dogs in this case. Banning specific breeds do not work we need stronger enforcement on the deed not the breed. In the case stated that a girl was attacked for trying to pet the dog. Where was the owner of the dog and the childs mother? was she taught not to pet strange dogs without permisson and the owner of the dog there? This attack could have been commited by any breed. My brother inlaw was attacked by a German shepard for just walking by he was not even aware the dog was there and was attacked from behind. luckly the dog was chained and my brother in law was just at his reach and was able to get away with just a minor bite. This happened on the road and the dog should have never been there. He was in an abonden vechicle on their road. In my brother in laws case it was the owner fault. My in laws had a husky we had to keep the dog seprate from children because she was old and didn't like kids we told all the kids that came over not to play with her she still bite two kids even though they were told to leave her alone. One of the kids actully was told to go home before the bite happened because the kids that lived there were not home. They did not go home we let the dog go out not relizing the kids were still there they were laying on her and one of the kids was bitten this dog always gave warning before she snapped with a growl in this case it was our fault just as much as the kids parents for not teaching about being around dogs. As they owned several dogs.
My family has owned Pitbulls for 11 yrs now without incident. My son's Pit, Zoe grew up with my grandkids and my 2 did also. They are the best dogs I have ever had around children.
I own a pit bull named Boss, & she is THE sweetest dog I have ever owned. The only human agressive pit bull r the dogs that have idiots for owners. Get a pit bull Paul Wesselhoft & you will find out how sweet & loving they REALLY are. If u teach a chiuawa to b agressive it will be, r u gonna ban that breed too???????????
Any dog can be vicious, just like any human could turn out a murderer. It's how they are raised. I have a pitbull and she showers people with kisses, why would you wan't to ban an animal that provides so much love?
because I think if the media reported ALL dog bites, including; German Shepherds,Labs,English Setters, and Golden Retrievers, and let's not forget those pesky little Terriers and Pomeranians, we would'nt even have to have this disscusion. But since they don't, this topic will forever be disscused every time a dog bites. The news has also assumed every dog is a pitbull. Last week it was " A boy's ear ripped off by pitbulls" They were NOT pits but boxers! Every dog will defend themselves when threatened, just like humans. I say if we ban Pits we need to start banning ALL dog breeds who have a history of injuring people. We should start with the Golden Retrievers, they seem to have been in the news alot lately for seriously injuring people. Don't ban the breed, ban the people who make the breed bad----BAD owners!!!
My sister was attacked by a dalmation, a cousin by a german shepherd, my daughter by a Llasa Apso. I don't see anyone banning these breeds! My pit has saved me from poisonous snakes serveral times and has had to be hospitalized! None of my 5 other dogs have done that!
I support this petiton, because I am a responsible dog owner, regardless of what breed of dog I own. As a responsible dog owner, I am willing to do whatever I can to ensure the pitbull is not outlawed. Turn in fighters, irresponsible owners, whatever it takes. I am not a person without compassion, I do feel terrible about the attacks people have suffered. Not just by pitbulls, but, by all breeds, who have bitten, marred, killed. Punish the irresponsible owners, not the people who put in the time and effort to bring out the true nature of this wonderful breed.
I own three pitbulls and they are not bad dogs the fact is that you have to raise them right and I have three children that live in the house with the dogs. I feel that it is the owners right to raise and train the dog properly. If you were abused you would lash out too!
because I am the guardian of 1 full blooded and 3 mixed pits. They are very sweet and loving dogs. I think we should be putting the blame where it belongs on the PEOPLE not on the bred.
I HAVE A 7 MONTH OLD PITBULL AND HE IS THE SWEETEST THING IN THE WORLD AND MY 3 YEAR OLD LOVES HIM. PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID SOMETIMES BECAUSE HALF OF THEM DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT A PITBULL LOOKS LIKE. ITS NOT THE DOGS FAULT THAT THEY RAISE IT TO BE MEAN. SO I SAY BAN STUPID PEOPLE NOT DOGS!!!

If government wants to take action and spend taxpayer's dollars in educating state workers to recognize a dog with pit bull characteristics, I'd prefer they use my tax money to educate state workers to recognize aggressive animals of any breed! I have had many different breeds be aggressive TOWARDS my pit bull, including German Shepherds, Beagles, and Jack Russell Terriers. It's not the breed - it's the human!
It's not the dog but the dogs ignorant owner. It's a shame we responsible owners may have to suffer due to other peoples ignorance. Punish the deed not the breed
I support this petition because I don't feel it's right to outlaw ownership of a pittbull. I do feel however that there need's to be stricter laws on owning a pitty. Way too many people who are just looking for a fighting dog becomes an owner of one of these beautiful animals. Outlawing the pitty is not the cure to a problem. Maybe there should be a law requiring owners of pitt's to register them? I don't know, but what I do know is that there is too many people getting them for the wrong reason!
The outcome of a pit bull reflects its owner and how they were raised. maybe we need to enforce more serious laws on those who used them for illegal purposes. set up education for the public on this breed of dog. its our right to own and love any breed of dog we want.
People need to be educated about this wonderful breed .And its the owners fault , why not charge the guy for abusing his dog ? where he cannot have another one . The owners are at fault , not the dogs themselves , its how you raise them , and in breeding . These dogs are very loyal and loving if treated right .
I have been around Pitbulls since I was 8 years old and none of the pitbulls I was raised with were aggressive to humans. This legislation is ridiculous.
I have owned pits for many years & just like any other animal-it is all a matter of proper training & good judgement. This breed is completely loyal & full of love for their families. Only monsters make 'monsters' out of them.
My Wife and I raised and trained a search and rescue certified Pit Bull. He went on several search and rescue missions with local Law Enforcement and was a trusted member of the Search & Rescue Team. He found where mentally handicapped boy had slipped into a river. When the rain stopped and the water went down the divers found him less than 100 yards downstream tangled in a brushpile. He also found the location of a girl's body who had fell off of a boat and drowned. "Griz" had several articles written about him from Great Britian to Australia. If any laws are passed, they should be to severely punish those who train them to fight and to attack train them. The dog is only as good as it's trainer and shouldn't be held accountable because of his breeding.
My mothers pet dog was killed by a pit bull Wednesday. The pit bull has been next door two years and suddenly destroyed our beloved pet. Please carry on your fight and tell us how we can help.
