I support this petition.I have a 3 year old female pitt bull and not only is she the sweetest & gentlest pet I have ever owned. My relatives have the 3 older generations of her family whom have the same sweet temprament. I have seen mine play with children for hours (I don't have any children) and never scratch, nip or trip these kids. She will however clean their faces for them with generous kisses. Too many people base their feelings on the wrong information.

I own a Pit Bull and she is the most loving dog I have ever seen.We have the same problem in my town.They are trying to pass some asinine law about Pit Bulls.This man was saying that it is ashame that you can not walk down the street without the fear of being attacked by a dog.In my town there have been several stabbings and shootings. I am not afraid of being attacked by a dog.I afraid of being shot or stabbed.So since guns and knives hurt and kill people, then we should ban them.Or maybe hold those accountable for their animals actions.Instead of killing of a breed of dog simply for being who they are;A very misunderstood loving animal.

I support this petition. I was bit by a pitbull and it did no amount of damage. The owner of this dog was cruel and mean to it. It's the owners, not the dog. The raisers of these so called "brutal" dogs should be punished if you're so worried about it. Maybe if the government did their part on putting an end to underground dog fighting, maybe their would be less attacks. Maybe you (Paul Wesselhoft) should do something about that than singling out pitbulls. I had the oppurtunity of taking care for a pit bull and it was the sweetest dog that i have ever taken care of. To outlaw the breed because you are uneducated ab. the breed and taking the easy way out is pure stupidity!! I have always made sure other people who are scared of them get to know them and interact with them to know they are SWEET as all pits I have ever been in contact with....only the HORRIBLE breeders who fight them are the mean ones! I support this petition. My daughter was attacked by an un-socialized Golden Retriever it did a pretty good amount of damage to her face. We have a Pitbull fora neighbor and she is the sweetest most pleasent dog , she plays with our 2 Rat Terriers and my daughter and is such a joy to be around. There is also a Rotti that comes over and joines the fun. Any dog can attack if it is not raised right.

I support this petition. I have a full blooded pit bull that was found in a parking lot. It at scars and bite marks all over. The vet said that he was probably dropped on the street because it would not fight for the previous owner. He has healed up beautifuly and has been neutered. He has gone to training and is truly the best dog I have ever owned. I have had many dogs in my life from the German Shepherd, Labs, Goldens, Mutts, & Scottish Terriers but I truly have to say this has been the one that has brought the most joy to my life. He is truly the sweatest dog ever. He loves to go to grandmas hose and play with thier Lab and cat. My parent love thier granddog too. This is a truly misrepresented breed and I hope that people in you position and in law inforcement would get a clue and start working for once in thier lives and protect the animals and people who fall victim to those who use these animals and treat them terribly. These individuals are a menace to society. Before you ban anything you should weigh the other options. Such as registration, lisencing, and regulated for all animals so that they do not fall in the hands of the wrong people. It should be a privledge to own one of these dogs. By the way they are in the Westminster Dog show THE Oldest sport in America. So I guess these dignified champions will not be able reside in YOUR state? I support this petition. Pits are no more ferocious (by nature) than any other dog. Outlawing Pits will only hurt the good owners. Those who breed and own Pits for the wrong reasons are not going to stop just because there is some new law. Even if they do, they will just move on to some other breed. Any dog, Even a Golden Retreiver can be taught to be mean. You need to do your research rather than blindly listening to all of the hype about this breed.

I support this petition. I have 2 pit bull mixes that have been adopted from not the best situations. They are truly the most loving and affectionate dogs I have ever had. The problem begins and ends with these dogs getting into the hands of individuals who BREED and/or USE these dogs for violence. There IS a difference. I believe pit bull owners should be responsible for their dogs actions (as all dog owners should be) and I think anyone who is a responsible pitty owner would agree. Please do not ban this breed. I have a 4yr.old American Staffordshire name Jacob, who I along with my fiancee raised with our other two pets (Bishon Frise)& (Persian cat) since he was 11wks old and he is by far the sweetest of the 3. Until Jacob fell into our lives, I had always been a lil. scepticle of the breed- he has proven that with the proper upbringing and love- his breed truly is mis-understood, which breaks my heart- they're is no such thing as bad dog's only bad people, who will do anything for a dollar- these underground breeders need to be controlled and stopped not the Dog. We had a very sweet American Staffodshire Terrier that found us...the first and only time she followed our other dog out the front door, the first dog, a mut, got in a fight with a neighbor's dog...lots of barking, no biting. A baseball bat came out and almost was used against the pit bull, who was totally scared to death by the fight and not involved. For those who may be wondering, we didn't keep the agressive dog, we didn't need a second incident. We are responsible pet owners who put people and kids first. But, the interesting thing we noted, the wrong dog was singaled out. We found a home for the American Staffordshire too because we feared our neighbors' were agressive!
I support this petition. As an owner of an adopted pitbull (who was a survivor of hurricane Katrina)I know the stigma this breed carries. She has been through so much, yet she hasn't shown any aggression towards anyone. Just love and appreciation. Pitbulls are such a misunderstood breed, any dog can be trained to be vicious, its the owners, and the fighters. Mr. Wesselhoft needs to do his research, and see that there should be stricter punishments for those found breeding pitbulls to fight, not those who just want to adopt or purchase a pet.
As an owner of an adopted 18 month old female pit bull terrier I support this petition. Pit bull terriers are not vicious killing machines. They are very sweet natured, loving and loyal creatures. My family and I could not be more in love with our little girl. In addition, this breed is a big part of our country's history and heritage. The breed played a huge role in frontier life in the 1800's. It is a true American dog. It was used as the symbol of the USA during WWI. The highest ranking and most decorated American military dog was a pit bull terrier. It was not until the late 1970's that it developed its unjust and unsupported reputation. All dogs are capable of attacking or hurting people. However, the word "pit bull" is a buzz word. It makes for good headlines. Senator Wesselhoft, please do some real research on the breed and the subject of canine attacks on people. I think you will see that this breed has been unjustly vilified.

I support this petition. My pitbull was formerly abused when I adopted him from a shelter. He was all cut up and missing part of his ear. But Mylo turned out to be a lover and not a fighter. Not ONCE has he shown any aggression towards other dogs and/or people. He is great with children and HE DESERVED A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE. Someone hurt him and I can't change that terrible year and half of his life. But I didn't judge "the book by its cover" during the adoption process and in the end I'm the one who is the most thankful. Mylo has brought an unconditional love and happiness to me and my family. I only hope that people give this breed a fair chance b/c in the end THEY will be the ones who missed out.

I support this petition. I am not from Oklahoma, but I have an almost 2 yr old pitbull named Miley who is very loving and affectionate. She will lay under the covers like we do in bed with her head on our pillow when we let her. She's just a big baby and she loves kids. My friend rescued a pitbull from the fighting scene and that's what made me realize how loving pitbulls can be. She was the calmest, sweetest dog I have ever met, even though her past was fighting. It just goes to show that it is the owners who make them what they are. It's not right to assume that all pitbulls attack people. Any dog is capable if their owner makes them that way.

I support this petition. I have had pit bulls in the past and they are one of the smartest, most loving breeds when raised responsibly. Punish those that would abuse and use these dogs for fighting. Because they are a dominant breed dog, owning one is a responsibily that cannot be taken lightly. They are very sensitive to the environment they are raised in. As a side note, I have been around the dogs with bad reputations my whole life, i.e. pits, rottweilers, dobermans; want to know what is the worst dog bite I ever got? A rat terrier. A toy breed. I support this petition. MOre people are bitten by toy dog breeds than pit bull terriers. Also in bite incidences the media never reports on the possible motivation for the bite. As a Doberman owner I have found that children often try to tease the dog. I can no longer allow my dog outside in my fenced yard because he has had bricks, rocks and other things thrown at him. Yet the authorities tell me there is not much they can do. However, if my dog bites his tormentors he can be killed. How is that right Rep Wesselhoft?
