On July 24, 2009, Warner Brothers Pictures and Dark Castle Entertainment plans to release the movie, “Orphan” nationwide. This horror movie is a fictional story of a couple who loses their unborn child and decides to adopt a 9-year-old girl, Esther, from a local orphanage.

The tagline for the movie is, “There is something wrong with Esther”. Another line from the movie states, “It must be hard to love an adopted child as much as your own".

The Christian adoption community adamantly opposes the themes in this movie which suggest that orphans are 'problem children' who will bring nothing but destruction and violence to a family. This deception also brings unnecessary fear to families considering adoption.

This theme is extremely offensive and hurtful to the hundreds of thousands of families who have adopted. Unlike the message that this film portrays, these families can attest to the great blessings of adoption, and their unmeasurable love for their children.

I think the majority of people signing the petition havent even seen the movie. You are a closed-minded tool if you have nothing better to do with your life than trying to block others from seeing this movie. Do you even know what this movie is about? Its not about a troubled child in the least. Get over it. I absolutely love this country for the many freedoms that we have. Now, you are going to try and tell me that you dont think we should have the right to watch this movie because you think people are not going to adopt 33 year old women. Its people like you that are wrong. You need to get off your pedestals and take a close look at what you are fighting for and against. The moment they take away our rights to watch this movie, theyll take away your right to read any holy book, or listen to a sermon, have public protests, listen to music that has any lyrics, go to any website, etc... You will never have a positive impact if all you want to do is take peoples rights away. Yours is exactly the type of ignorance that causes such violence in this nation. It is honestly enough to make reasonable people go completely mad. Perhaps you would actually just be happy if people did nothing but adopt babies and never had them naturally.

I went to watch this film last night and yes i admitt that i even felt a bit sorry for esther in the film because she\'d been in care,but i dont think this film offends children in care atall,it sort of just gives out the message ,know where your child has come from before agreeing to adopt them,it does NOTHING in the film to say all orphan children are evil,because in the beginning it shows you how normal the other little girls are ,then it shows you esther. You then find out in the end,shes not even a child. so this petition is completley wrong, and i say it was a very good film all round.

You people should really find out the whole story in the movie before acting like this. You find out that Esther is not a child but a 33 year old dwarf woman who is passing off as a child to murder people. So if you are afraid of that happening to you if you ever decide to adopt a child then you are a idiot who should not be taking care of children. Do you people honestly think that anyone who would adopt a child would decide not to due to this movie? I actually didnt go to the movies to see it i torrented it because i was bored the other night and nothing was on TV and thought this would be better than nothing and its surprising a really good movie compared to any recent horror/thrillers. Its an interesting story and obviously people are interested in the topic of adoption seeing as about 2000 people have signed this petition. And i do not support this petition in case you couldnt tell but nothing is ever going to come of it so here you go...
