From the age of 4, I gave money to Keren Kayemet L'Yisrael every week! I think that we must live in the spirit of Tikkun Olam or there will never be peace with our Arab brothers! Social justice and equality is what Judaism must stand for, particularly NOW!
It is hard to believe that a supposedly democratic country like Israel could pass such blatantly discriminatory legislation, or that the JNF would expect the majority of diaspora Jews to continue to donate to it if it does not actively reject it.
I think that having a Jewish state is inherently discriminatory (and I'm Jewish), but I agree with the anti-discrimination statements in this petition.
I have always been a strong supporter of Israel. More and more though I see Israel as behaving like and Aparteid State. The policies of discrimination toward Israeli Arabs must give way to just treatment if Israel is to maintain the support of a large segment of the American Jewish Community.Give Israeli Arabs the right to lease Keren Kayemet land.
Dear Mr. Elkin:
The provisions of the JNF charter cited were absolutely appropriate for the Yishuv. Israel is happily not a Yishuv but a democratic state, for which the cited provisions are singularly inappropriate. Sincerely -- Judith Kass
As someone who, with my Cousin Gabi Bauer (Kityat Motzkin) has sponsored a 100 tree forest in honor of our grandfather, Rabbi Jacob Winter, for 50 years Senior Rabbi in Dresden, Germany,I am thoroughly againbst the legislation being proposed. It discrimminates against citizens of Israel and is against our basic values.
