A petition to PUC and LCRA regarding the proposed routes through
Schleicher, Menard, Kimble, Gillespie, Kerr, and Kendall Counties
for the high-voltage transmission line -- LCRA and CREZ McCamey D to Westwind to Kendall Project

We demand our fellow Texans at the Texas Public Utility
Commission (PUC) and LCRA Transmission Service Company
apply more appropriate standards to the routing and construction
of the new 345,000 (345kV) electricity transmission line with:
1. Better Structures
As Texans we demand that PUC and LCRA do NOT use
4-legged, industrial-looking, 18-story tall, old-style lattice
transmission towers because they are an insult to the land.
The new 345kV transmission lines will transmit electricity for
many decades into the future. For this reason we demand the
use of appropriate mono-poles to lessen the visual, economic,
and actual impact on our precious Texas landscape. We also demand use of underground lines through cultural, historical, and populated areas
2. Safer Distances
We demand that PUC and LCRA respect our friends, families
and neighbors by NOT placing high-voltage transmission lines
close to structures where we live, work and play.
We demand that any potential harmful effects and health hazards
associated with high-voltage transmission lines be reduced or minimized by increasing the distance between
the 345kV transmission line easement and the structures we use from 500 feet to 1,400 feet.
3. More Respect for Property Rights
Because Texas Law has not been strengthened to fully protect the rights of property owners and because
LCRA possesses the power of eminent domain to compel property owners to sell land for easements, often
against their will, we demand that LCRA fully compensate property owners for the true devaluation of their land.
