It is sad to see the world coming to this. I have owned many different breeds and the most docile, loyal and most loving I have had is a pit! DON'T SEGREGATE BY BREED!!!
I heard Dalmations were pretty dangerous. Pitbulls just get a bad rap from being so strong. I think the best way to describe a pitbull is like Lenny from "of Mice and Men" A musclebound misunderstood sweetheart. I love that book *sniffles*
these dogs have placed higher in canine aggressive tests than the popular labrador, meaning a lab is more likely to be vicious than a pit. Raised as they should be, they have very sound temperaments and make wonderful pets!

As a breed, pit bulls are no more dangerous than any other. I remember headlines used to scream " DOBERMAN ATTACKS," when I was a child. Then it was rotweillers, and now pit bulls. The only constant is bad owners. Stop condoning negligence and abuse.
This would be a great idea I love my dogs and I want people be to educated on what wonderful dogs they are and how loyal and loving they are and how any dog can be mean if not treated well from your chiuhauha's to your golden retrievers and everyone in between
I have two beautiful pitt's that were rescued...I could not live without their kindness. They have been amazing with my cat and rabbit...so much for their reputation. LONG LIVE THESE SPECIAL CREATURES!
While some breeds were created to be aggressive, all were made to be that way by a human being whether through behavior modification or outright cruelty. The dog wasn't born bad, humans made him that way.
I have never met a mean pitbull. I have met plenty of mean owners however. All animals need love and care, including pitbulls. Years ago it was the rottweiler and the hub bub died down, now it's the pittbulls. Yes they have a violent history, but that was banned a LONG time ago and pitbulls are no longer breed for fighting.
Too many pit bulls are being abused, neglected, and exploited. Yet nothing is done about the criminals that own these dogs for the wrong reasons. They ARE the reason that this ban is happening, and this is why vicious dogs exist in the first place. A properly raised and trained pit bull makes a wonderful pet. Punish the deed, not the breed!
If a crazy man ran down the street and started attacking people at random with an umbrella, would you create a law banning every law abiding citizens right to own an umbrella??? My sister has a pitbull and she is the SWEETEST dog ever. The only thing she will maul you with is her KISSES! :) There is no one specific breed that is bad- you can't say that. That's just like after 9-11 how everyone stayed clear of Indian people- "Pitbull's are mean" is merely a sterotype! wake up people!
I have seven dogs one is a pit mix and one is fullblooded pit. they range in age from 15 weels to 10 years old i have no problems they are sweet and intelligent dogs and love my cats and kids itsall about how they are raised.

I have owned a Pit bull for ten years with a young child in the house. The only dog he has been bit by is the neighbors. Which by the way was not a pit bull but a retriever. Maybe we should ban retrievers now, sounds silly right?
The truth should be spoken about the breed. Bad owners/breeders need to be exposed. Tell the truth about the dog pounds that kill these dogs as soon as they come in and give other breeds a chance to be adopted. More pressure should be put on pit bull registries to enforce breeding restrictions.
This is an unbelievable breed. I have found it to be this best with kids and my family. I have had an incounter to which a woman was pitting my dog saying how beautiful it is and how great it behave's and when I told her it was a pitbull she freacked out oh my god those dog's are killer's, When for a half an hour before it was a different story. Ignorance is this breeds worst enemy and the false and negative way the media portray's this breed. It's long over do to where the media made a positive view and realistic view of this great animal. I feel we should really push for this positive chance with the media to happen. Even though they might cut it to a 60second clip we need to fight for a worth while portral and episode so that 60 sec one doesnt happen.
We own several American Pitbull Terriers and we have never had a problem with any of them. They are the most loyal of all dogs. Punish the Deed not the Breed
i wish people that have never been around this wonderful breed would lay off. i own 3 of them and they just love every one, they think they should sit an everyones lapand give out kisses to all they meet. my grandchildren just lay all over them and they just lick them and love all the attention. so if you have not been around the breed please aquaint yourself with them and find a love you will never forget. the problem is owners that don't love and respect the breed that has made the breed lose face, they are like babies and if you abuse a child all their life they turn bad well so does ANY DOGNOT JUST APBT.
I am the proud owner/breeder of 5 American Pitbull Terriers, Bozack (4 yrs), Ceirah (1 yr) Zoe (1 yr) Droz (male 1 yr) and Solo (4 months)My 12 year old son has the Droz. I believe that they are the most wonderful breed and very loyal. I call all of mine my kids. I have 4 daughters and 1 sons.I believe that Pitbulls are wonderful if they are in the right hands.I have seen people who abuse and neglect these dogs and I feel very sorry for them. I think that, before anyone judges them or bans them, they should take a look at the owners and ban the "BAD OWNERS" and not the dogs. I also believe, If you do wrong to the animal then the same should be done to you. I have seen ALOT of pitbulls that were beat and still have high spirits. Like I said before, IT'S NOT THE BREED, IT'S THE IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS.
All the media from news channels to animal planet, protray that incredible animals are killers and viscous. These dogs are the most mannered and efficient dogs I have ever came across. We need to start punishing the deed and not breed when abuse has taken place.
I truly believe that the APBT is the most wonderful, loving breed. My family has owned many APBTs and both my husband and I now own 3. We affectionately call them our "kids". They are the most lovable and playful dogs with our 9 nieces and nephews (ages 3-17). One of the biggest problems that exists is that people can't even correctly identify an APBT. So as soon as there is a dog attack, the dog ia automatically assumed to be an APBT. The public needs to forget all the bad stuff they've heard and listen to all of the responsible APBT owners!
APBTs are one of the best dogs on earth i'm not a pitbull owner yet but i have been around a few and i love them. i hope to have my own pit sometime soon. i think people should try to get to know these poor animals before they go and judge them.
APBT are the best dogs anyone could have. They are smart,obedient, loving, very tolerant towards kids my 7 year old son is proof to that. I have my dog for about a year and am now purchasing a second. They are so great one is not enough.Help prmote this great breed.
Honestly, I too was one of those who believed all the hype about this breed. Then my wife (who grew up around APBTs) convinced me to get one. And I am so glad that I did. I will never own another breed of dog.They are the most loyal and loving dogs. The people who want them banned are the ones who know absolutely nothing about them and have probably never come into contact with one.To not have met a well trained, loving APBT is a shame!
I've been around the breed all my life starting as a child. My Dad owned pitbulls while he as growing up too. I've been breeding, and training APBT's for 6 years now, and have never had any problems with human aggresion. They are protective for their pack members. And sometimes the media spins that as being agressive, and unstable. A well bred, well socialized APBT is the best family pet and protector.
I have been arounf APBT'S for over 10 years.I own 2 males and a female and have never experienced any human agrression with my dogs toward anyone of any age or color. Knowledge can prevent fear!
I've bred/been around pit bulls for over 23 years, and i have never had any of my dogs show aggression towards me or my children because of how they were bred/raised. Its fear among people that want them banned.
Before anyone can make a judgement call on banning a certain breed, you should have an intiment knowledge of that breed...
Remember, Hitler was a supporter of BSL. He killed millions to get his point across :(
The pit bulls are not the problem it is selfish people who do terrible things to such great dogs for there
own amusement,if it is not the pit bulls they will use another breed to amuse there self.

ive bred pitbulls for over 20 yrs my 8 kids were and still are being raised around them and none of them or thier friends have ever been bitten by any of my dogs i show my dogs now and we have no problems with them attacking any one or anything
I have two blue pits and they are the most loving and loyal dogs that I have ever owned.My 2 children love them and have helped raised them to become the most friendly dogs that we have owned.We need to let people know that no mater what kind of dog you own, that animal will always protect his family.
I have owned many breeds of dogs, and after getting my APBT I can honestly say I will never own any other breed again. This is the most loving and loyal dog I have ever had. I have 4 kids and she is so gentle with them. My 2 yr old son lays on her like shes a big pillow and she just wags her tail and licks his hands and feet. THIS IS THE NORM FOR THIS BREED! Please help people to see that, so I can stop watching people rip their hands back from petting my dog after I tell them what breed she is.

This is ture we all need to come together to save this breed.Most people who are scared of pits never really been around them.They are just believing the hype they here in the metor.Take timeout and deal with the dog then judge.Some of the strories you here on the news how do we know what that dog was going threw in all fairness.Everybody who owens them are not good oweners.It should be the master getting punished not the dog.
Pitbulls are a great dogs. They will give 110% just to please you. Pitbulls are not people aggressive unless forced or trained that way. Pitbulls are dogs that want to please. Yes they can be dog agrressive but so can any other type of breed. When a Pitbull attacks we need to look at the person who owns the dog or what the person was doing before the dog attacked. I was attacked by a Chow Chow and I don't see them being baned.
I have 3 pitbulls and they are very sweet and lovable. I have a 7yr old boy and they do great with him. I just wish that you would make us stop suffering for the other owners that breed theirs to fight. While the rest of us who take care of ours have to suffer for what the bad owners do.

We own 3 pits and I spend alot of time trying to promote my dogs. Pits are not bad dogs, they are just owned by bad people some times. Just like with guns, it is not guns that kill, it is the people that kill and it is the people who train the dogs.They are just trying to please their owners. Please do not punish us all. It really bothers me when people ask what kind of dog I own and when I mention the word pitbull, the first thing that comes out of their mouth is "Do you really trust them" All these people have never owned a pitbull in their life, But are quick to judge and criticise.Its about time this wonderfull breed gets some positive media exposure and then maybe these people will have a different opinion.

I`ve owned pitbulls for 13 years and have never encountered a problem with them ever... A.P.B.T`S are friendly towards people by nature...I have nepews and nieces that come over all the time and they are as gentle with them as they are with anyone else that comes over..
Please Please tell the truth about our wonderful pups before they are banned. Pitbulls account for less than 2% of maulings. Have we heard about the Labs and German Shepards that are so overly bred for money that their temperments are compromised by greedy people? Make the people suffer not the animals. They are not born mean, people are mean.
I own a great pitbull that I love dearly who gives unconditional love. I want the world to know the good about this breed not the unjust rep they have.
We own 2 of these wonderful dogs. They are the most loyal, intelligent, loving and trustworthy companion a family can have. We have 2 children, a 4 year old boy and a 6 month old girl. The kids love their dogs, and the dogs love the kids. Our male dog, Mac, is our son's best friend. They both dressed up as Superman for Halloween and went trick or treating together. Mac also stood at our front door and greeted all the children who were trick or treating at our home. It is time that the media stops sentsationalizing the negative aspects of this breed; the negative is due to irresponsible and ignorant humans. The humans are the ones "mauling" the pit bull, not the pit bull "mauling" the humans. The people treating these dogs so badly deserve to be in jail, not the poor dog being euthanized and blamed for everything. People need to be held accountable for their actions. It is time for the world to stop being racist toward this breed. Breed specific laws are another form of segregation, but in the canine world. You cannot say that every pit bull is vicious, mean, or will attack a human. It is so unfair. I urge everyone to look at the information regarding pit bulls on the UKC and ADBA websites. There you will find statistical information regarding percentages of bites, etc. Be informed before you hate the breed. Most people who talk negative about these dogs have never even met one, that is plain ignorance!
THE MEDIA USES OUR BREED FOR SENSATIONALISM. WHY DON'T WE HERE OF POODLE ATTACKS, FURTHERMORE, THEY START THE REPORT OF WITH " PITBULL ATTACKS...." AND MOST TIMES THE DOG IN QUESTION IS NOT A PITBULL AT ALL. BUT BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS A BRINDLE DOG OR A DOG WITH CROPPED EARS AND IS RECKLESS OUR BREED PAYS THE PRICE. The public needs to know the truth about these dogs they are as freindly and loving as any other. I have owned pitbulls for 10 years and they have been treated as one of my family. They are around my daughter and her friends without being harmed.
