please help us show how injust this is. My dog does not deserve to be punished for something he's never done.
This is the same as racism, and I thought we as a society had gotten over most of that.
I used to be afraid of pit bulls, I believed the hype until Destiny (a pit bull) came into my life. I have now hd her since 1996 and am not one bit sorry. I love the breed and would not have any other. I think it would be wonderful if FOX did a report on them tht way people could see the goodness in them.
I have owned Pitbulls in the past, with proper training they are wonderful companions.
I feel strongly that it is irresponsible owners, and not the breed at fault here.
I am most happy to sign this petition. Pitbulls have been misunderstood for to long. Ignorance is "A Lack Of Education". I am signing in hopes to help educate people on the truth about Pitbulls and bring awareness to the actual 'training' of a dog, is what could be criminal!

I own a pit myself and she is the sweetest dog I have ever had. It saddens me when people shy away from her because they are uneducated/misinformed. Get the message out. This is a great, loving, loyal breed that needs to be recognized as just that.
I own 2 pitbulls, once from the South Central Los Angeles Shelter, and one right off of my street. They were both abused, abandoned, and pitiful. They moved into my home that includes 2 cats and neither one of them have ever gone after my cats. They are docile and compliant. They just want to be loved SO BAD. Any animal can be made to be agressive if you train it to be that way. My 14 year old Chow, who recently passed away, lived her full life and not once did she ever show aggression or bite anyone or another animal, and Chows are also known to be aggressive. It is how you treat them. IT IS NOT THE BREED.
Please, for pitties' sake, make an informed decision. I urge the citizens of Ontario and the government to consult dog experts and organizations before enacting legislation based on media hype, ignorance, and outright lies.
hello!this has to stop.media really needs to start seeing the truth about this breed.i own 5 pits.getting ready for another in DEC.this breed is not dangerous it is the irresponsible owners that are dangerous.i have been around pit bulls all my life.i'm 34 yrs old.i really would like to grow old with this breed and let my childern see what a wonderful breed this is.
This is the breed I work to save every day. We need to get as much knowledgeable, factual, politically correct and emotionally stable information presented to the general public as possible. Anne, Director, Pit Bull Project
I agree with Kevin Corlis, damn the owners, save the dogs. Why don't we put a ban on the guy who invited this so called ban. It's society's falt. This ban makes me sick:(
It's about time people did start learning the truth. The AMERICAN Pit Bull Terrier was named because of it's courage. If you ban this precious breed of animal, then you are taking something away from American history.
I own two pit bulls and they are the biggest babies you could ever meet. The media unfairly represents this dogs as visous and dangerous. They are anything but. They are the most loyal dogs you will ever know. Even the ones that have been mistreated can be saved. All they need is just a little love from a caring sole and they will love you back 10 fold. It isn't the breed at all. It is the people attracted to the breed that give them a bad name. NO BAD DOGS JUST BAD OWNERS!!!!!
It is time for fear-mongering to be put aside and the simple truth revealed. It is time to stop foisting blame on a blameless creature and start requiring people to take responsibility. Certainly, "intelligent" creatures like ourselves are capable of accepting responsibility. I accept responsibility for my Pit Bull. She is obedienced trained, animal friendly, and adores being stroked and given treats. She is the sum of my hard work, her receptivity to training and my bond with her. She is not dangerous because I, as a responsible dog owner, would never allow her to become dangerous. That is how ALL dog owners should be - RESPONSIBLE.
I had a pit-bull,named "Lucky"
He was a sweet dog
not mean at all!The
people that use them to fight are the real problem! They are the one's
that cause the whole problem!!!Not
the dog!You treat them good and not miss-treat them they are great dogs!!!
TO ALL PITT OWNERS YOU NEED TO MAKE THE NEWS DO A SEGMANT I AT THIS TIME DONT OWN A PITT BUT HAVE HAD SEVERAL AND THEY ALL WERE LOVEING AND LOYAL DOGS THEY HAVE A BAD REP BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE LAURIE AND MIKE MAPLES WHO FIGHT THERE DOGS THESE DOGS CAN BE VERY GOOD FAMILY MEMBERS IF RAISED RIGHT SO ALL OF YOU NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND MAKE THE NEWS DO A SHOW ON THE LOVEING ANIMALS THAT THEY ARE ITS HUMANS THAT ARE BAD
Pitbulls and their responsible owners deserve to have the truth told. Enough breed bashing, let's get to the root of dog attacks - IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS AND BREEDERS!!! Let's make laws that help eliminate the real cause, not just bandaids that don't work. When they banned pitbulls in Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada, the number of dog attacks in the city actually INCREASED, even though the number of pitbull "incidents" was at 0. BSL doesn't work, Pitbulls are not inherently dangerous, and irresponsible owners are the real danger to society.
The best dog I have ever had is going to be three this month. My family wouldn't know what to do if he where ban from our home and our lives. Please air the truth about his breed.
We have had Pits and AmStaffs for 20 years. It's all in how you raise your dogs, you can make any dog mean. They are the sweetest and love family dogs. We have three and they play all the time together. We love our dogs.
Having had well over 20 dogs in my lifetime (4 now) I would say without hesitation that the female Pit I had for 9 years, until cancer took her from me, was the smartest, gentlest, most senstive, most loving, most loyal and most beautiful one. I miss her still and wouldn't hesitate for one second getting another Pit. They are incredible companions and friends and should be treated with the respect due them.
People should all educated themselves before they are allowed to make decisions, rather than basing them on horror stories that are often misleading and untrue....We love our APBT/AMSTAFFS and they are part of our families.
If this was about a race of people, it would be discrimination, all dogs large and small are a potential hazard for society, I have seen spanials do a great deal of damage, unprevoked. Visious dog by-laws with stronger restrictions, and liability insurance for owners with a dog who has had or has aggressive tendencies makes much more sense than baning a breed.
I am a veterinary technician and I breed and show American pit bull terriers and american staffordshire terriers. I have found them to be the most loyal, loving breed I have ever delt with. I have been able to keep multiple dogs together without worry and I have never felt these dogs were ever a threat to myself or anyone else. Any breed of dog that is taught as a puppy to fight could do so. It just so happens people whom partake in such an act are drawn to this breed. It is not fair to punish the breed for this nor the owners whom love and cherish them as pets. They make phenomenal family dogs. Due to media I cant take my dog(s) to a public place without parents snatching they're kids away. My dog(s) adore children. This is just another type of prejudice.
We have been in the company of Pit Bulls for years-our assessment is- it is not the dog ( and that is taking inconsideration breeding and temperment)it is the creepy human element that doesn't have a clue how to properly raise a dog and socialize appropriatly. I have a 5 lb Pom ( who bullies our 3 other much larger dogs)who can be aggressive-does that make for the argument that all Pomerainans are aggresive and should be banned? This is a great huge hearted breed-place the blame on the owner who misuses them to bring out inappropriate canine behavior , not the breed .
I have 5 pitbulls at the moment and not one would hurt anyone its not the breed its owners who think a bad mean dog makes them look tough that gives this breed a bad name .i do have one very mean dog she is about 4 to 5 pounds she is a full grown mix mini doberman. Iowned a pitbull Sasha was her name I got her when she was 2 yrs old she was the best friend i ever had. my daughter that was 3 at the time wrestled, played rough ,eat and slept with sasha for 6 yrs never once did she even growl not even a hard poke to the eye could provoke her.May she rest in peace now she is the reason i love the breed and will own pitbulls as long as i can.
I have had pitbulls and havent had one to be agressave. They are very loyal dogs, and are as good as their masters. I have had children around these dogs , And they love children.
