some of the most loving, loyal and intelligent animals I have even known were Pit Bulls. all animals behave in a manor that reflects the way they are treated, Pit Bulls are no different. Expose a Pit Bull to love and thats exactly what you get in return.
The legislation proposed should read ANY VISCOUS ANIMAL and not one specific breed. There can be many problems with any animal especially trouble is usually with a bad owner who is thew one who needs to be dealt harshly with!!!!
The American Pit Bull Terrier is one of the most misunderstood and stereotyped breeds in the world. These dogs are loyal, sweet, loving, playful,and full of that special something that makes pet owners love their pets. We as a society have learned nothing from our mistakes. Such mistakes as sexism and racism have taught us little about our judgement of things that we do not understand. American Pit Bull Terriers are not man-eating monsters that should be banned. They are great dogs that should be given credit for being great dogs.We as owners have stood by as the media has painted a horrific picture of our friend who consider us their best friend. "MAN'S BEST FRIEND" and we have done little to stop the injustice. Our dogs speak for themselves everyday by loving,caring,and behaving in a respectable manner, and making our families complete.Sadly,the media is only interrested in headlines that sale.Negative headlines sale papers and improve news ratings. This being said,you can understand why there is no positive image of the APBT being delivered to the public. It is our responsibility to raise an honest voice for our wonderful breed who cannot speak for themselves. Thank You for allowing me to voice my opinion.
I've owned the APBT for about 7 years. For 6 of those years, I have raised my daughters with theses wonderful dogs. We have NEVER had a problem with ANY of our dogs around our children or our friends.
Great idea for a story. Pitbulls definitely deserve some positive press. Let me know if you need help obtaining pictures of children with pits, I could get you a hole bunch of them.
My daughter Casey and I have been involved with pitbills for at least 6 year and have been with the all american pitbull association just as long. If you want a story of how great of a family pet they make take your cameras to a show. I used to be a believer of all the bad until my daughter moved back home with her pit dymond. I was just a plain uneduccated fool. Now I've had mine for over 3 years. Loyal and Loving.
My sister is a veterinarian and has had pit bulls for the past 16 years. She also has a 4-yr old daughter, who has grown up with 1-2 of them. They're beautiful, smart, loyal friends. Viciousness lies with the inhumane keepers, who have more problems than treating their animals inhumanely!
It'd be nice to see real journalism do research from valid sources and not the headlines. We used to be very wary of them, until we read about them and realised they are one of the better family dogs. Now we own a cross. Out of five dogs my family or myself has owned, she's the most gentle.

Punish the people how raise them badly to do bad things and the people whi fight them. Not the people who raise them right as the beautiful animals that they are.
I don't own any pitbulls, as I live in a small apartment, but they are great animals. I have many friends (with children) that have pitbulls and not once has there ever been an issue.

Enforce leash laws and there will be far less dog bites from any breed. In Toronto there are 28,000 Pit bulls and in 2004 14 have been involved in bites so, 27,986 have done nothing but will be punished.
I have 2 pitbulls who love and adore all humans. My neighbors walk freely into my home at any time to be greeted w/ wagging tails and kisses. These dogs are NOT born mean but made mean by humans. If someone mistreated me and abused me, I would turn out horrible too!!!
When a child acts up people immediately blame the parents based on the fact they are acting what they are taught. Why do people not think the same way for our dogs. It is no different.
Please do not judge the breed, judge the irresponsible owners. I have a pit bull that I could not image life without her. She is so loving, loyal and fun to be with. I urge anyone to spend just 1 hour with her and you will change your image about pit bulls. Thank you
this wonderful breed has gotten a bad rep because of pit look alikes and little gangbangers.i own pits and the world needs to know his is a very friendly dog as any other dog in the right hands.
I have researched and experienced the love, loayalty, and companionship this breed has to offer. The APBT is like no other! I will never own another breed of dog. These dogs are more loyal and loving than people. Please get the truth out about this wonderful breed of animal before its too late!
Any kind of dog is vicious. Is just the way the owner treats it and habits they teach him. they basically just want to please their owners, and some times we dont take the time to teach them well.
If you tie a golden retriever up, beat it with iron bars, sic other dogs on it just for sport to watch them tear each other up, that golden would act aggressive and defensive every time a person got near it too. You treat a dog with respect, and that dog will show you respect...Pit Bulls are awesome dogs, and most of their kind have a aweful life...
My rescue Pit/Mix is the sweetest most affectionate dog I have ever had. I get offended by all the bad press. People should read up on the breed and not just judge by rumours.
I am a mixed breed rescuer. But have rescued many pits. I have never met a breed more loyal, funloving and willing to please their owner than a pitbull. They are extremely affectionate and even after abuse and neglect, this wonderful temperment can still be intact. There definitely needs to be some education on these dogs. Instead of focusing on banning the breed, lets focus on jailing the monsters that breed these dogs to be vicious.
