The media loves a monster and the words," Pit Bull attack" assure high ratings. Stop this madness and prejudice. Innocent animals always suffer at the hands of human ignorance.
I currently own a pit pup and even as a pup i have to say he is the best mannered pup i have ever owned...I was also raised with 2 pitbulls from 6y/o til I was 19,Tasha was a wonderful dog, cuddly, kissy, and all together sweet never even so much as barked at a cat...ok so some dogs bite,so do kids..should we all euthanize our children because the odd child out there is a bully? my dog is my child to me and there is not another breed in the world that i would prefer to raise my two little girls with...
I don't even own a dog,I have 3 cats, but I firmly believe from the pits I have met they are wonderful animals.Any dog in the wrong hands can be made dangerous.
Mr Bryant should concentrate on animal-cruelty and the punishment of owners, rather than punishing the innocent dogs and the many thousands of wonderful pit-bull owners out there.Shame on Ontario for pushing this ban!!!
I don't own one but they are a great breed it is about irresponsible owners and cruelty. Do you think banning a breed will stop attacks, no the idiots that abuse these animals need to be banned not the dogs.Wonder if you would be aggressive if someone poured battery acid on you Michael Bryant
My girlfriend Melissa introduced me to the breed and my father used to breed German Shorthaired pointers. Not only did she change my mind about them but my father and mothers as well! Jake is my dads buddy now and they go around posatively promoting the breed!!
I own two wonderful specimens of the breed and could NEVER think about owning another breed! We take them camping with us and we all enjoy the attention we get when people hear they are pits. They are all amazed at how well manered they are and not aggressive. They are our wiggle butts!
It started out with my husband, his brother, and I all going to our local animal shelter to find us a new companion. When we got there the people that worked there were very rude, acted like they didn't want to be bothered with showing us the dogs that were available for adoption, and when we spoke with them about the dogs themselves they acted like they would rather euthanize all of them than adopt them out. My brother-in-law then told us that he new a guy in the bad part of town that was selling pit bull puppies for $50.00. We had never really thought about owning a pit bull before, even with all the controversy over the breed I just couldn't see how one breed of dog could be so viscious. So we went to take a look at these puppies and when we got there this guy was trying to sell 3 week old pups for $100.00. There also was this 7 month old brindle colored female just sitting by their couch staring at us. The guys three little toddlers kept coming up to her and pulling on her ears and lips and she would just sit there staring at us. I asked the guy if she was for sale and he said not normally but he needed to make a car payment. So my husband and I talked about it and decided to get her, this guy is a known dog fighter and I could not bear for that sweet dog to be put to that use. It was the best thing we could have ever done, she is such a sweet natured and well behaved dog. We now have a total of 7 pit bulls and all of them are very sweet towards people. Whenever our friends come over they are always amazed when we tell them that that sweet dog they are palying with is a pit bull. Let this be a lesson that this breed is wonderful when treated with love and well socialized.
BSL is a joke. I have introduced my dogs to hundreds of people and always hear them say how suprised they are at their temperaments. A true pit is gentle and trustworthy, and they dont deserve so much hatred.
These dogs are wonderful pets and I have four I could show you now that are so sweet and get along great! It's not the dog's fault it is the irresponcible owners.
Any dog breed is what their owners/breeders make them. Good or bad. Stop blaing the dogs and put the blame where it is due. Irrisponsible ownership. Plain and simple.
I volunteer at an animal rescue league on weekends. Through this organization, I've met many pitts that are gentle, loving animals.
The hicks and the gangbangers who raise pitts to fight to the death have given pitts a terrible reputation. Raising an animal is much like raising a child. If you raise them with violent methods, they will learn to become violent. If you raise them with the love, patience, respect and proper training they deserve, they will learn to be loving lifetime companions.
Please remember to donate to and volunteer at your local animal rescue. The animals need our help.
Are dogs are part of are family! And i trust everyone of my dogs around anyone. I have owned lots of different breeds of dogs and pitbulls are perfect family and people dogs.
COME ON...PLEASE NOW A DAYS IF THE ANIMAL HAS 4 LEGS THEY CALL IT A PITBULL...HALF THE SO CALLED PITBULL ATTACKS I SEEN ON THE NEWS DONT EVEN LOOK LIKE PITBULLS
live and let live, how long will the human race look to blame or scapegoat the earth nature and animals for the problems we keep creating for ourselves....please show the documentry
Please, yes do this. People only seem to believe what they see on TV, and it seems like the only kind of press our dogs can get is negative. FOX should definitely step up and be brave enough to show the other side of the coin.
I know several Pit Bulls who are sweet & very gentle. They only become vicious by being raised to be that way. We should not condemn an entire breed because of bad breeders & owners.
pitbulls are great dogs. Just like every other breed of dog there are some more aggressive than others. I have owned two pitbulls from different bloodlines and have not experienced violent aggression out of either one. Pitbulls are loving and the best at home protection. Breed specific legislation is against everyones constitutional right.
Don't blame the animals for the bad training and behaivor of the owners, punish the owners for the bad training..even a teacup poodle can be taught to attack, it has nothing to do with the dogs and everything to do with WHO trained them to behaive this way.
i believe that it is the owners are the ones to blame in the case of the pit bulls...they are loyal and want to make their owners happy and if that means fighting then thats what they will do.. There should be stronger laws regarding owners of ANY dogs, the pit bulls time as a hated member of society will soon change to another brred.. Just as it did in the 70s and 80s with the rotties and dobies..
i think instead of focusing on tghe pitbull they should be worried about real human attackers such as your rotty's and sheppards pitbulls are not naturally agrresive towards humans thats why they are always being stolen
Breed-specific legislation will not eliminate the problem of biting incidents. The problem lies with the irresponsible owners who allow and/or encourage their dogs(s) to get into trouble. Everyone should not be punished because of the misconduct of a handful of people, nor should the dogs suffer due to ignorance and a lack of compassion. Obviously, it's far easier to go after the dogs who cannot speak out and defend themselves in a court of law, then it is to impose penalties and restrictions on the "sub-humans" who are ultimately responsible for their dog's actions. Until dogs are considered to be more than just personal property (i.e. car, tools, lawnmower, etc.), this problem will continue. By the way, I have been involved with APBT rescue since July 1994. I share my home with 7 wonderful Pit Bulls, who all have one thing in common - they were all previously neglected, abused, and unloved in varying degrees. Despite all their suffering, they are the most forgiving and loving breed I have ever encountered. We must defend them with all of our might against those who seek to persecute and condemn that which they do not understand. For all of the joy they bring into our lives, it's the least we can do to repay them for their loyalty and affection!
These are beautiful, gentle & loyal animals. Statistics show taht a person is far more likely to be bitten by a labrador than a pit bull. An ignorant public is a terrible thing.
pits are just like any other dog, i agree that its not how they were born its how you make them. if they're mean then they were made that way, not born like that.
Pitbulls have been cherished members of my family for 29 years. In all that time I have not had one dog that has harmed a human or another dog, which would seem to confirm the thought that the people who raise the dog ARE directly responsible for the majority of their dog's behavior. The laws should focus on the owners and not the animals who have no voice in how they live,or no choice in their training.
i've owned a rotweiler and a pit bull in the past...neither one of them ever harmed a fly....this bill must not be passed!!! dogs are like people...they're not born that way...they're made that way...it's up to them to punish the people who make them that way...not run in to every single person's home and take what could be the sweetest dog on earth and kill it...just because it's a certain type of dog...ignorance is not bliss, it's proving to be very dangerous with stupid bill like these even being considered
Les pitts ne sont pas plus agressifs, plus sanguinaires que les autres races. S'il faut punir quelqu'u, que ce soit les maitres et non la race!
Punish the deed, not the breed!
I have 3 Pit Bulls and they are the best dogs I have ever had the honor of sharing my life with. This media hype and hysteria has got to stop. Fcus on the lowlifes abusing these wonderfull, loving creatures instead if you want to find the real problem.
I've own two rescued pit bulls for 10 years and have been involved with rescuing pitbulls.
the legislators need to redirect their energy and focus on the real problem...bad owners etc! stop punishing the breed and lock up the abusers.
We lost our Pit; Petie to cancer earlier this year; he was the most wonderful dog I've ever know, one of the family. Ours hearts broke when he died. I totatly agree it's NOT the breed, it's how you raise them.
I am a firm beleiver that dog owners should be held responsoble for the actions of their pets. If it were my son who did something wrong and he was a minor I, as the parent would be to blame.
