MY step-dad has been raising & breeding pitbulls for like the last 10 or 15 years and I recently got a puppy from him well i went to his uncles for july 4th and took my new puppy with. His neighbors had there black lab that was akc registered well they got to talking about how viscuos pitbulls are about the same time they where talking about this there lab attacked my 5 year old little sister and tore half of her face off needless to say their champion bred lab had to be put to sleep its sad that they had to put down there great dog but it goes to show that if that had been my dog it would have been all over the news but being that it was a lab the cops where even reluctant to write the report on one officer even made the comment as they where walking away that he would have expected this from the pit pup before that dog. Pitbulls Need a new start with positive backing from the media not negative every time some stray mutt bites someone they just say it was a pitbull
I'm horrified by BSL. Whatever happened to accountability and responsible ownership? Too many politicians trying to make a career for themselves on this issue...and largely an incompetent and lazy media individuals
My sister has pitbulls they are so cool when i get my own place im going to get a puppy from her and show all this bad media what an ambassador really is
My brother has 3 or 4 pit bulls all are abda or ukc registered dogs I work closely with coastguard and Border patrol where they mostly use German shepards as their dog of choice. The Way my brother Derek has his dogs trained makes there dogs look like rabid wolves with no dicipline its not the dogs fault they do what they are trained to do. they need to pass harsher legislation on the people who fight the dogs not the dogs
Also in addition to other posts in this petition . Its all about selective breeding and socialization for temperaments and responsiable ownersship . These are beautuiful animals and there are plenty of other breeds out ther ethat could go threw the same if this country isn't careful !!!Just shameful what this world is coming to and the carelessness of others that this breed is being punished and hopefully not banished forever !
I have met many breeders that breed pitbulls. The breed is very smart, loving, and sweet.
Pitbull's are a great breed, they are use for therapy
weight pulling, also for showing, I love the breed. I own a pretty girl her name is PR'Kc'z Dutchess of Espinoza
She is my lil baby .I am planing on becoming a breeder and also showing them in UKC dogshows.(love them, but dont fight them)
I have had occasion to deliver a litter of "pits" to an abandoned and malnourished mother. She was the sweetest girl and never once offered to growl when I was causing her pain in helping her puppies into the world. She had never met me and yet she was willing to let me help her when she was too weak to deliver on her own.
I'm a dog trainer that used to teach obedience classes for people and their pet dogs. In classes I never met a pit bull that wasn't outgoing and friendly. Of course the only pit bulls that I met where the ones that came to class as part of a pet dog family who like everyone else in the class wanted a well trained family pet. The pit bulls that I never got to meet often belonged to male macho types that didn't take the time to train their dog, and where also from the school of not neutering them cause that was in their mind cruel. These dogs like other unsocialized, untrained and unneutered dogs often ended their life at the shelter. People are responsible for raising a good dog or a bad dog.
Both my dogs are second hand from someone else who never took responsibility for their needs. In the right home with training and socialization they turn out to be great dogs dispite having some quirks from their previous life before me.
It is bad owners that give breeds their reputations not the dogs themselves, at the end of the day the dog is only doing what it's natural instincts are and that is to please it's master, ban bad owners!
As a photographer at several Pit Bull shows, I received many, many kisses from the dogs as we took their pictures. And no, I do not have Pit Bulls, I have Irish Setters.

We own a 4 month old pitbull, and my mothers chihuahua would be more likely to bite you...lol My dog is extremly friendly, looks gorgeous and no one has a problem saying hello to her, except the uneducated dog owners who have no clue what to say about them. One thing they should do is ask vets what they think, they are the ones who treat them and have seen it all, My dogs vet is against the ban, and thats who these people should be asking. We treat my pitbull like one of the family... literally! Pitbulls show no evil, stupid owners do!
I have a beautiful 4 year old son, cats, and 3 well behaved pitbulls. My son acts out more then they do. We even take them to his school to play with the other kids. My pug is a much more dangerous dog then the pits.
I work at an animal shelter and have seen many more vicious jack russels and cocker spaniels than pitt bulls not to say these breeds are bad either but any dog can become aggressive regardless of breed.
Every pitbull I have met has been the sweetest dogs ever. I have seen how smart and easily trainable that they are. It's
sad that we want to ban a breed that we think is mean.
I adopted out a dog in our shelter...she passed the evaluation with flying colours...Guess what she was a pitbull, Sweetest dog ever. very smart too. I think if there is going to be a ban I should be on dogs that have bitten!!!
use common sense, once you ban a breed, it will be replaced by another. You people are in power to make sensible decisions, not rediculous ones that wont put a stop to anything other than passing the buck to the next breed. Hold owners responsible...investigate the circumstances that lead to a bite...make sure because it looked like a pit bull, it actually is a pit bull.
Let's take a step in the right direction for the sake of wonderful pits everywhere. They have been mistreated by horrible ownership as well as the media.
I am twelve years old and even I have enough knowledge and sense to be able to tell you that pitbulls are only aggressive when the owner or other people get involved with training them to be aggressive. There are other dogs who attack people like that not just pitbulls so when someone who's scared of them hears the words I have a pitbull, they shouldnt be scared unless the owner is the scary one! I have two pitbulls and they are harmless, they need to pick on another breed because pitbulls rock!
I have 2 beautiful pitbulls who are very friendly and excellent with kids. I believe the ownerships who make the pitbulls the way they shouldn't be. Leave the breed alone!!
I saw an estimate on the news for the number of reported dog bites in Ontario.....691 reported bits, 90 of those bites were from pitbulls......this should tell you all something!
I am in an animal control officer, and have come in contact with many different breeds of dog. What I have noticed is that most of the pitbulls that I have been around have been very loving dogs and not aggressive in the least. In an animal shelter dog are often in kennels with strange dogs and pits are no exception they have to share kennel space very often and most of them get along fine. I have owned many pitbulls that I have rescued from the shelter. They are great dogs and they deserve to be loved and have a family that loves them instead of exploiting them. These dogs really love their owners and will doing anything to please them ....... unfortunately there are some IDIOTS out there that should never have any dog, it is not the dogs fault it is the owners and always will be. A Lab can be made aggressive it it's owners teach it to, and so can a Golden Retriever.
Through history God's cretures have always paid a heavy price due to human inresponsible behavior, not just pitbulls, but also circus animals,etc..I pray that humans open their hearts to God and see the beuty of nature not prison
Amen
Like everyone else before me has said...."There are no mean dogs, people make them mean" I have worked in boarding kennels, and never did I have a problem with a large breed, let alone a pit bull, it was always the little ones that were the first to want to grab me. :)
Punish the deed, not the breed. it is not a dogs falt that the owner is too lazy or ignorant to train and socialize he's/her dog. Just like children, they need to know what is expected of them and taught right from wrong.
I've owned many different breeds of dogs in my time... 7 in all. The 2 I now have ARE pitbulls, and they are amungest the kindest hearted, sweetest, loveing, and most loyel dogs I've every had the foruten of being my pet.
