I agree it's not the breed of the dog that is the problem it's how the owner raises the dog. My pit bulls are really nice and lovable and I have two kids.
We got our first Pit Bull in 1981, and have owned one every since then. We have owned many breeds, but find them to be the most people friendly and loving dog we've ever had. This is a breed that really wants to please it's owner, so they will do as their master wishes. The problem for these dogs is that we now have some really sick owners! If we keep banning this breed they will only attach to another, and almost destroy that one too. If we start making the owner responsible for his dogs, things will change. This breed needs protection not banning......We have three other dogs of different breed, and the most trusted dog we have is the Pit Bull, for we are responsible owners.
Pit bulls are what you make of them, with love and gentleness they are wonderful company. Make people responsible for their own actions. it is thyem that molded the dog to be what it is.
I OWN A PIT AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH HIM,I ALSO BRED PITS IN THE EARLY 80'TO EARLY 90'S.ITS NOT THE DOG THAT IS HARMFUL ITS THE YOUNG OWNERS WHO ARE MISLEAD BY THE DOG,THEY NEED TO PICK UP A BOOK AND GET INFORMATOIN ON THE BREED.I BLAME THE OWNERS,YOUNG OR OLD,NOT THE DOG.
Pit bulls do NOT deserve this harsh torcher!!! Humans need to act smarter than that!! We call ourselves the most intelligent species, but are we REALLY that intelligent? not the animal haters!!!!Stop this Hell for pit bulls!!!
Pit Bull's are just as loving as any other "mans best friend". My Uncle had a few for YEARS & they are very sweet, affectionate, loving dogs. The stereotype these dogs have recieved is from they way some PEOPLE train them to be.
Ignorance is the cause of the prejudice, learn the facts and the truth about pit bull breeds..there is NOT a more loving devoted intelligent breed, in my opinion. ANY dog can be mistreated and taught to fight or become mean, ANY DOG CAN DO THIS, this isnt an exclusive pit bull trait, why people act like it is , is beyond me.
i agree that it is not the dog, but the owner that is responsible for their dogs behavior. Dogs are not human beings who can think thingsout on their own....they are taught....or not taught...by their owners, who should be held responsible for their dogs actions. Banning a specific breed will cause irresponsible people to choose another breed to abuse and will not solvethe problem.
DON'T BLAME THE DOG! That's the easy way out. People need to take responsibility for their actions and their creations. Banning any breed is a bandaid solution to the bigger problem.
Lawmakers would be much wiser to invest in the education of humans [on the dangers of improper breeding and on the benefits of sound training], rather than spreading hysteria and bigotry towards whatever breed is scapegoated this year.
I've known too many pitbulls to think they are a vicious breed...most are full of love...and the ones that aren't were made that way by the cruelty of man.
Punish the DEED not the BREED!!!! Dont say that our beloved pitbulls are viscious when you dont know all the facts. Its BAD owners that make the dogs bad, not the breed itself. I have had three pits around my children and they are the sweetest dogs I have ever met.
It's sick that people are even thinking of banning them. No-one has the right to do that. Maybe legally some people do, but I mean...come on. They seriously want to ban them?! It's just bloody stupid.
I myself have rescued a pit from the big world of concrete USA from when the dog was just a few days young roaming rundown abandon areas i took her in and pulled the adorable pup out of the slums and now she is grown to be the neighborhood dog... OF THE SUBURB and all the kids love her except for my neighbor across from me whos kids go to private schools and cant wait to come home to see my dog posted up in the front to greet them, My dog has NEVER NEVER attacked nor bitten any human therfore the stereotype in the breed is a outragous superficial discrimative BS of a bold statemant, i believe the petition should be heard and squashed
If pitbulls are banned because of irresponsible idiots, I consider it a form of communism. What about my rights? I love this breed and it is my right to own one. Descrimination too. Can't get any homeowners insurance unless it's high risk. I can't ever imagine myself without a pitbull. Owned several and never had any problems. They were part of the family..
I don't know what you call it when you look at a few bad examples and call the whole race bad, but around here we call it racism. Every pitbull I've ever known has lived to love people. They're all suckers for a cute kid--or even an ugly one--and the only real danger is that they'll love you to death.
Yeah, some pits are bad--but when we're talking about people, we think of socioeconomic background and the way they were raised.
There are bad people and good people. And most of the bad people were raised to be that way.
Think about it.
I was raised with pit bulls, have rescued pit bulls, and have been saved by pit bulls. My family raised them. Every day, I saw them come into the recuse burned, beaten, starved, anything cruel you can imagine. Every single one had a heart of gold. Banning them is like banning every memory of my childhood from me.
Punish the deed, not the breed!
Save the Breed!!!!
Pitbulls have been getting a bad rap. I have had pitbulls for 20 years, i currently have 3 now. They have been raised around children ages birth to adults. Never once every snipping or biting anyone. It's all in the way you raise your animals, not it's Breed!!!
Pitbulls are Sweet FAMILY PETS! I have 2 kids and have 16 pitbulls plus puppies. my kids play hide and seek in their dog houses. Yes they will protect us but isn't that why we gets dogs anyway? To Protect our FAMILY!
PLEASE DONT ban these WONDERFUL animals. They only do what WE ask them to do!!!!!!!! THINK ABOUT IT!!!!! PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED!!!!!!!!!!! MOUNTAIN CREEK KENNEL
these are great dogs actually PETBULLS not pitbulls, it's all ine the way YOU teach them. It's sad to see healthy, beautiful creatures full of love being killed just because they belong to a specific breed.
I have owned pitbulls and rottweiler for over 15 years and I believe pitbulls are the most stable breed of dog. There have been many notable individuals that have owned pitbulls like past prsidents, athlete, and movie stars. Punish the people who give this dog a bad name not dog.
Banning a breed is not the solution...harsher restrictions on who owns dogs, and educational programs promoting responsible dog ownership would go a long way in stopping the problem.
What's sad is saying mans best friend is bad . What I say is a dog is no different then a gun , it's how a person handles either one . Don't band the dogs keep the wrong people from owning them .
Specific Breed Bans are not the answer. Usually you will find it is the owners and the training the dog has or the training the dog doesn't have. Some of these owners should be banned from having any animals. It is not the Breed that should suffer
