As a Pit Bull owner, I can say that it truly is the owner and not the dog. My dog has no CLUE he's a pit, and is the most lovable, friendly, docile, snuggly dog out there. He's an 80 pound lap dog!
Altho not a fan of pit bulls, I believe that legislation such as what the Minister is trying to railroad through will harm all dog owners to the extent that we will have lost our basic rights, and so will our dogs, especially those that are referred to as "Menacing".
I have worked with pit bulls and they are great dogs. One of my friends does nursing home visits with her dogs. They also visit the Florida Stste Fair and have hundreds of people pet amd play with them.
I trust my dog with everyone i can leave him in a room with a bunny and all he would do is lick it!... they are the smartest and most wonderful dogs in this world! ppl really need to grow up and learn a lil more about them!
i have a 15 month old kid and they love each other my dog is now 5 yrs old and they said the older they get the more they dont want to be bothered with well thats not true my kid and pet play all day everyday i actually consider Damien my pet one of my kids as well
Punish the people that subject these beautiful animals to cruelty by fighting them. Law enforcement needs to procecute these brutes more thouroughly, not the defenseless animals forced into that miserable life.
I love APBT i go no where without my macky. I own 7 of them as of today they dont fight and they worship the ground i walk on. I treat them with full attention ALWAYS. Its the f ed up owners who neglect their pets so y are they even owning a pet?
Pitbulls are great dogs, i have a friend with one, and it doesn't matter who goes up to the dog, it will not bite or bark or show any kind of agression. It is up to the owner to how any dog will turn out.
Pit bulls are one of the most loveing dogs I have ever find I have one now and had one before that past way. both of then never bit or gowled at anyone or anything. The one time my male had gowled is when a guy broke in to my home and my son was in the same room I Got to say i am happy cause who know when the guy whould of done if My pit didnt do anything. My pit did not bite the guy just gowled at him and let me know he was there. I love my pits let sohw people Pit Bull's are great family dogs.
How about featuring the pitbulls that serve as therapy dogs, compete in Obedience Trials, etc., instead of spotlighting the products of man's inhumanity to animals?
dogs are like children. if you let them do whatever they want, they will do whatever they want. the only difference is dogs are more loyal and more receptive to training. pits have great natural ability and great loyalty to their owners. people that raise their pits in the ghetto and encourage them to attack everything that moves are the reason for the pit's bag image. shame on them
There are good dogs and there are bad dogs...of all breeds. Some dogs are born good some are made and the same is true of bad ones. I think it would be interesting if some statistics were done for this FOX special of well-raised "bad" pits versus other breeds. I seriously doubt anyone would be able to find a significant difference. It would also not surprise me if there was no significant difference between the number of poorly-raised "bad" pitts versus poorly-raised "bad" dogs of other breeds. Its an interesting story think about it, FOX.
Pit Bulls are intelligent, loyal, and gentle. Because they have been abused in the past by owners, Pit Bulls have gotten a bad reputation. Let's show the world how things have changed!
You can turn a chihuahua into a bad dog. One of the most visious dogs I ever knew was a collie that someone had spayed too young. As smart as dogs are they are going to emulate the attitudes of whomever they are around. If those people are mean the dog will be as well. And I doubt that the breed of dog matters very much. The only difference then becomes the size of the dog. So what this country needs is a training program for people who own dogs. Just like the training programs people have to go through to drive cars or anything else that is dangerous (like guns). You can't even get married without a license and most denominations have some form of premarital counceling. So why not something like that for dog owners? The way this society is going it seems as if they are punishing the dog for being a certain type of dog. When if fact it is the owner who is responsible for the temperament of the dog.
I think that any breed of dog will be vicious if it is trained to be so. This does not apply only to pit bull terriers, so why are they being punished for it. Pits can be loving and wonderful pets and if they are not, it has nothing to do with the dog, just its iresponcible owners.
Stop the hate towards animals such as pit bulls. I have a rotty myself and cannot believe how many walk the other way when I am walking him. It is discrimmination and pathetic just because some people are not educated! GO FOX!!!
I love pitbulls I don't own one but my boyfriend does, the dog is the most gentle dog I have ever met.
Beccie pitbulls were not banned in the UK in 1991 becuase my bf and my mate have pitbulls and we are from the UK.
In my opinion, dogs' (as well as most if not all animals') behaviors are reflected on how they are treated. My best friend has a pit bull and he is treated very well and he is a huge baby! I have a rottweiler who is also the biggest baby. If you treat an animal poorly, they won't be so nice (and I'm not talking about all animals because I know that sometimes they become scared and timid...not mean). But the more good attention an animal gets, it gets used to it so it's greatly affected by it....in a good way. Rottweilers and pit bulls, as well as some other breeds, just get bad reps because people are afraid of them because they may look like they could hurt you. That is what I think.
My pitbull was my baby, I loved him and he loved me. He was around my 2 and 4 year old until he died and it broke our hearts. He was playful and happy, not vicious
We have 2 pitbulls and they are our kids. Owners are the ones who should be punished...no race can be discrimminated against and nor should a breed...its all how you raise them!!
My Mom's neighbor has 3 pit bulls and they are the sweetest dogs. It all depends on how they are raised. It's the *owners* not the dogs that make the difference.
No animal is born BAD. Most are born GOOD and only do what they do to please their owners. I think its the owners that should banished and not the breed.
I have owned several pits at one time. I know several people that would hate to get rid of theirs. All people know about them is what they hear, they don't hear the good things about these dogs. I read an article about a woman that uses hers for rescues but nobody wants to tell that. I have raised my kids with one in the house, they are the most loving dogs that you could own.

I have 4 pitbulls, 3 other dogs, 7 cats, 3 rabbits, 8 ginaue pigs, 2 lizard and many more. My pitbulls play with all my other animals so nicely. I see no reason to ban the animals. The owners of them who don't treat them with respect should be banned. I can't wait to see the documentary!!!
The general public, unfortunately, believes that all pit bulls are viscious dogs just waiting to snap and attack someone because that is the only image of the breed that the media presents them with at this time. The truth is that the majority of pit bulls are incredibly friendly dogs and would never dream of biting a human. How original it would be for a broadcasting company to show THIS side of the breed.
As a Veterinary Technician I see first hand what wonderful animals pitbulls really are. They are gentle loving dogs and make great family pets. I can't wait for FOX tv to air this and educate the country as to the true nature of these amazing dogs.

I am from Japan and when I lived there I had a pitbull but when I moved to Cincinnati I had to get rid of my little pitbull. I would hate for others to go through the sadness I went through when I had to give up my dog Yingo.

Our good friends have a pit named Jasmine, and she is a wonderful dog. I fully trust her with my son, who is three. She's so sweet and gentle, I have no doubt that she would never hurt him. They should work harder to ban and prosecute the people setting up dog fights, and those that train them to do harm. Really. That's where the issue is.
Dogs for the most part are civilized. People bring out their aggression so I think the problem lies with owners becoming responsilbe and accountable for their actions. If provoked enough anythig/one will growl/bite.
