My husband and I own two Pit Bulls, and they are both loving and loyal animals. I previously owned a cocker spaniel and had to get rid of it because it tried to bite my 3 year old son several times. On the other hand my Pit Bulls have never been aggressive towards anyone, and I would never own any other breed! I think that a "positive" news segment would be a wonderfull idea to help clean-up the APBT name. A lot of my friends own pitbulls, and these dogs only behave in the manner in which they are taught and/or bred, because some breeders breed for money, and not to better the APBT as a breed. They dont care about the temperment of the dogs they're breeding. DOGS DONT CREATE BAD DOGS, PEOPLE DO!!!! PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED!
If Pit Bulls are raised properly and not kept on chains, they can be a loving member of any family. A dog is a product of his surroundings, any dog kept on a chain will eventually become mean. Pit Bulls are no exception. Chains should be against the law for any dog, especially Pits. It is truely a sad and pathetic sight to see these magnificent animals persecuted.
I love pit bulls, and I'd like to see you do a segment on them. Please show people that it is abnormal for a pit to show aggression toward people, regardless of its tendency regarding other dogs.
Please investigate the effect of pit bull bans on illegal dogfighting.
Pit Bulls, as with any other breed, are a product of their environment. As a shelter employee I see lots of Pit Bulls in our facility. I am thankful we do not discrimate against the breed and allow them to be adopted out if they become available.
Let's not punish the breed, but educate those that have done a disservice to this breed (along with other breeds) by only showing the negative sides to this breed.
There is a need for stricter laws against fighting and cruelty. Citizens need to put pressure on local law enforcement agencies and representatives to bring to light these cases.
How many more good dogs must be put to sleep because of ignorance by the media and general populous?
I'm an owner of a mix pitbull and I would love to see someone show the public that pitbulls are not aggresive unless they are raised that way. It's the irresponsible owners who ruin and give this breed a bad name. Pitbulls can be loyal and affectionate if raised by the right owner.
I have been around many Pit Bulls which are family pets. They are good and calm dogs. With the love and affection that all animals should recieve, They grow up loving and afectionate dogs!
The way you trat your animal is the way the animal will behave. Cruelty begats cruelty. You show an animal love and affection, and that is what you will get back
Never have I seen such a great breed as the American Pit Bull. I have owned all types of dogs from a schnauzer to a doberman and my pit "Lady" is the sweetest, most fun loving and affectionate animal I have ever owned. The truth about pitbulls needs to be told. They are affectionate, loyal, good tempered dogs. It is the wrong handlers that take good pitbulls and turn them into agressive creatures that the media and local governmant like to prey on. Air the segment! Let the truth be told before BSL legislation takes away this phenomanal breed!
We have a number of APBT's in our rescue and they are the most loving, sensitive of all our dogs. We all know who the "bad seeds" are in the trials and tribulations of this great breed. Negative media coverage and horrible, cruel people who should be punished. One side of a news story is all people get - no matter the final outcome or how true and fact based a story may have or have not been. These are great companion animals and deserve to be loved and cherished.
I have two pitbulls and they are like my children, it angers me so much to see people pull their children away when i am walking them or have people make me put them away before they wal;k in my house. Its ridiculous- they no more harmless than any other breed. My yorkie is even more viciuos. I am very happy to see this petition go out. Its good to see there are people out there who know the truth about this great breed.
i have 4 pits,,they are as sweet, loving, caring as any other pet,,very affectionet..if given the chance,,they are not born aggressiv,,,mean people make them that way.
I am a Pitt bull owner breeder and care taker and i have owned over 500 pitt bulls and never had any one of them that was natraly agressaive it was the owners i had got some of them from that make them mean if you give the dog the right life and care for it and love it like you do your kids it will grow to be the best companion you have ever had or will have i have never had a dog bite or attact with out good reson never had one of my dogs attact another dog ever and i had 33 pitt bulls running a house loose together and never once had a problem
Pitbulls are extremely sensitive and loving animals. I have numberous pictures of a pitbull and his newley infant (human) sister laying together. As well as the pitbull playing and being poked at by a 5yr old. The pitbull has never attempted to bite or harm those kids! A dog or anyone at that matter, will respond by self-defence if abused!!...it is as simple as that!
Great idea. I am tired of defending the APBT true personality. The truth needs to be heard. APBT discrimination has to stop just like human discrimination is not right. All dogs cant be pits but the general public thinks so. It is time for the truth. i have great all around best in everything dogs and I would love for my APBT to be known for the loving, loyal and very smart companion personality.
Ignorance is the killer of everything. Dont be ignorant and destroy this wonderful breed. Punish the bad owners, not the good owners. Stop listening to the media and meet some pitbulls that are responsibly owned. We responsible owners love our dogs and take care of them, we do not abuse them or torture them.
bryant, what is wrong with you?why do you have this arrogance and iggnorance towards pitbulls and dog ownership in general?your agenda is what?getting your party kicked out the door.i can assure you sir you have done that already!when clayton ruby gets a hold of you sir pardon the pun,"hes going to chew you up and spit you out like a broken tooth!your narrow minded all bent on destroying the pit bull and their owners is not going to work.we are not going away, either is the pit bull breed!muzzel forget it so now my dog can be attacked and now able to defend him self against a off leash animal!we have a leash law bryant, why are owners whose dogs are attacked while off leash, why are these people not charged??do you not know we have a leash law,i guess not you can not even identify a picture of a pitbull
but you sure as hell want to ban them and any thing that looks like a pit bull!all animal lovers and dog owners better step up and fight this!this is not just about pit bulls1
the only dog that we should be getting rid of is
michael bryant
slime ball!
It is about how you choose to raise your dog! I have an amazing sweet rottweiler. I fear for us losing our rights! This is discrimination!! And we need to stop it now!
As a proud owner of 5 pit bulls, I urge you to show the positive side of this breed. There is enough bad press out there on them. Most unjustified. Please show the public that it is the owners to blame and not the dog.
APBT is the best breed around. They excell at everything. They are very smart dogs and learn quickly. A news special would be a very good thing for the breed. as once said...punish the deed not the breed.
It is all on how they are raised. You can have a lab go bad.Its the owner not the breed.I love pitt bulls and if a person who doseint just owns one or spends the day with one im sure they would love them just as much as the next person im sure.
I have been around rescue pit bulls all my life and have two right now. About time their name got cleared and people understand that pit bulls are not all evil creatures that many have made them out to be. Glad to see people are trying to educate others.
your newsbroad casts always show the negative side of a breed but not the humans who possess them.therefore, I do not watch your channel anymore. Research fully before reporting a storyline.
My pit, Chelsey, is sweet, loyal and smart. Few people know the truth about Pit Bulls and there background. The media is a great way to inform the public that dogs learn from their owners. Don't punish the breed. Most of these pups are as friendly as can be.
I have an incredibly sweet, intelligent and amazing dog who would never harm anyone. It breaks my heart to go to a park and have parents not let their children pet my dog because she is a Pit Bull. We need more education. Stereo types are the beliefs of uneducated misinformed people. It has been the case for stereotypes towards not only people but now affecting dogs. We need to change that and promote awareness. More people are attacked by German Shepherds every year than by Pit Bulls!
If this news story will be accurate and with out prejudice, this can bring the truths about these wonderful dogs to the public light. A positive news story from a respected broadcaster can provide a great influence and allow the public the see the truth about the American Pitbull Terrier other than the lies that make "headlines" ..
It's how the pitbulls are raised. The ones that I have encountered were as gentle and loving as could be. If you raise it with love that is all it will show you.
As with other "agressive" breeds(or any breed, for that matter), it is the responsibility of the owner to insure a well behaved dog. Unfortunately, it is the dog who gets the bad rap, and not the people behind it. I am graced with the companionship of a sweet and loving pitbull rescue dog, as are a few of my friends. Please people, educate yourselves before you judge.
