I love the breed and any dog or person if not raised properly can become aggressive! I love the breed and i am a rescue and have rescued many and all where wonderful dogs and they need more of a chance ! Dont discriminate ...educate!!
Rescued and loved an APT named Zippy. I found him on my door step after he had been hit by a car. We rushed him to the vet to see if he could be saved. He was, he stayed with us on this earth and became a part of our family and a part of our business. We lost Zippy earlier this year and I'm still recovering from my loss. Most loyal and loving dog alive.
Two of my god children are AmStaff's I love them just as much if not more than my family XOXO
Let the truth be known about how wonderful these loving dogs really are
I have an american bulldog which is constantly mistaken for a pit bull she is wonderful and has changed my inlaws from only labs to bulldogs with her wonderful personality
I too have been around pits all my adult life,I am 54, and I know first hand for a fact that pits can be be trained to be what you want them to be...nice or vicious. all the dogs I have know were trained not to bite or attack unless given a command. I have seen them push a baby in a swing and then wash his face with kisses or grab him by the diaper and pill him back from being too close to stairs. I would trust my granddog(Harley) with my life!!!
Having previously judged this breed only by what I heard on the news, after fostering a purebred Pitbull, unneutered and 17 months old for 6 months, & educating myself about the breed, I was hooked on the absolutely terrific character trades, so much so, I adopted a pitmix husky/pit this spring. Someone needs to show that they very much deserve to be family companions!!! Just like people most are good, some are not. But.....the sad reality is that PEOPLE are responsible with their cruel way of raising and keeping this breed, for ruining this breed in the eyes of the gerneral public & ther public derserves to know what a terrific family pet "Petbulls" are!
I have recently becomed involved with rescuing pit bulls and have seen firsthand what these animals endure through no choice of their own. I have taken in 2, a male and female. Both are the sweetest most docile dogs I have ever been around. They play like children with my other dogs and are so glad to see us when we come home. I call them "little cupcakes" not killers. These animals need to be given a chance. They are no different from any other breed. They only suffer from ignorance and a certain segment of society that have trained these dogs for fighting. Any animal would react the same way if starved for weeks on to have food dangled in front of them, forcing them to fight for it. It is this portion of society that should be banned, not the pit bull breed. Stop the ignorance and fear and take the time to actually learn the truth about this breed. Laws against the people who mistreat and use these animals have to be quick, harsh and unforgiving!
I have a pit bull that is the best dog a person could ask for. I've seen the horrific abuse they suffer at the hands of peopl - its not their fault but the cruel people out there. If not not the pit, another breed will be thier next victim.
I am so angry about the bad rap and mistreatment of this breed I can't even put the emotions into writing. I own a wonderful american pitt bull terrier and he has been a blessing to our family. I can't tell you the amount of joy and love he brings to us and the loyality is unmeasurable. I hope that one day people will stop being scared and uneducated about this as well as all breeds that are considered to be dangerous so they can see these breeds for the wonderful animals that they really are. I also wish and hope for the day that we can or will toughen the laws against the owners that raise these animals to be what we see in the newspapers and on t.v.
Pit babies come into the world as sweet and innocent as any baby. They are abused, forced to fight, treated horribly. Go after the sociopaths who hurt them and often force them to fight for food after starving them but don't ban the breed. Some of the sweetest dogs I have ever known in my life are older Pits who were treated with love like all puppies should be. They don't have "killer instincts" - just a horribly bad rap by the human race.
PItbulls can be valuable, loving members of a caring family. As President of Doberman Rescue in Houston, I can attest to the damage that ignorance and intolerance can do to the reputation of a breed. Dobermans still bear the label as vicious killers and it couldn't be futher from the truth.
I worked for the Humane Society and many loving pitts were put to sleep because no one wanted them. Its hard to tell people what wonderful pets they are with all the negetive press they get.
I wouldn't have any other dog BUT a pit bull terrier. They are the MOST loyal & loving companions anyone could ever have . I would love for our pit bull the be the "poster child" to show everyone how great they truly are!!
As a Pit owner I now the truth about these wonderful loving dogs. We have to inform the media that the myths are just that MYTHS. We HAVE to show these dogs as they are in day to day life.
It's not the breed, it never has been. It's all about the people who own them.
I am an owner of pitbulls, and before I got them I thought that they wewe vicios dogs because of the way the media portrayed them. I have realized that these are exceptional and loyal dogs, worthy of show and conformation titles.
I own two Pitbulls and they are great dogs. I think a positive segment on APBT's would be good for the breed. Please go to lawless pitbull links and click on MJS Kennels, scroll down and click on the flash movie. You will see that humans are the MONSTERS and NOT the dogs!
I completely agree w/ the individual that said pitbulls are not aggressive- it is their training that makes them dangerous. I have know many wonderful pitbulls that are every bit as loving & docile as golden retrievers. Breeders or other individuals/ owners that train these animals to be aggressive shoould be held responsible NOT the breed.
