I have NEVER met a Pit Bull I didn't fall in love with.I love all animals small medium or large.I have rescued them all.Of all the breeds I truly have to say Pit Bulls are the sweetest, most gentle, funniest,
affectionate and probanly the most intelligent of all.
Please lets all hold hands and help these wonderful beings who are so strongly discriminated against
My pitbull saved me from a home invasion 4/2002 when 3 crack addicts tried to break in my house. (They picked the wrong day- I was home asleep.) My pitbull ran to the window-and they got in a car outside and drove off! This dog stays inside with 3 cats while I work. They are fun playful dogs. A few people abuse and neglect them and are making it bad on everyone.
Adults and children are attacked or bitten by dogs everyday, yet it does not make the news. If it looks like a "pit" it must be a "pit" which continues to give the "Bully Breed" a bad rap. Education, training, understanding the breed or any other breed is essential in responsible ownership. Why are there so many dogs in the pound, humaine society, or rescue? Could it be irresonsible owners? There has been so much negative media it is time to show the positive atributes of this breed.
It is the best breed! They are so sweet, great friends. Pitbulls might be naturally agressive to other animals, but that is waht they were bred for. THEY ARE NOT AGRESSIVE WITH PEOPLE, unless trained otherwise. PITS ARE THE BEST!!!
Breed-specific legislation isn't the answer. It doesn't fix the real
problem, and it unfairly punishes many innocents. Unless we want to live in a sterile world where no other animals are allowed to exist, we'll never eliminate risk, but we can do a lot to minimize it.
What is needed is an attack against the actions and behaviors that are at the root of the problem, not an attack against specific breeds,
particularly since specific breeds are often difficult to prove for dogs
that lack kennel club pedigrees, as is the case for most of the problem
dogs. If you successfully outlaw specific breeds and do nothing else,
those who want to own vicious or fighting dogs will just switch to a
different breed and you'll have to outlaw that one.
I have owned pits and
trained pits. Also and ACO.
we need to stop blaming the breed and making the owners more responsible.
Dogs behave by the way they are treated
Any dog, just like a child, needs a loving home free of neglect and abuse. Banning a breed will NOT make this happen. Look at irresponsible owners and the truelly sick "people" who train their dogs to fight. Look at rescue organizations and the dogs they have rescued. Enduring horrific cruelty and brutal mutilations these dogs overcome and can live in family homes. How many people, after enduring the same could become whole and loving again? These dogs, or any other breed, do not deserve to become extinct because of the sickness of some "people".
I have more than one pit bull and they should not i repeat, they should not be banned. They are wonderful dogs: fun, trainable, and all the wonderful adjectives can describe any of my dogs (pit bulls). If anyone has any problems with pit bulls, please consult with me. I can help change your mind on your negative views of this breed. A dog is a family member, not an animal to me. If fox does a documentary on these dogs, they should first start with the negativities and the truth, then go into homes, my home if applicable, and see how closer pit bulls are to family, than just a dog. The public should see the history of how the pit bull was bred, and its purpose because fighting dogs were entertainment for old tymers, then now, they're not. seperate history from now. It is a misunderstanding that has poisoned the minds of dog haters or plain and simple society. i've included my email for anyone who is against or for the pitbull ban. Be prepared to make your stand. gangstaboogy2004@yahoo.co m thank you!
I think it would be great if you did a honest program on the American Pit Bull...forget the hype but tell about the history of the breed. How they went to war for this country and how they won medals. Remind people of the role they played in the Little Rascals. Showed the public instead how this breed is very loyal and very trainable for things other than fighting. For example they are therapy dogs, they can do herding and are great companions! Thanks for considering this show
Had a sheldy and had to give him away do to the fact that he keep barking also had a english Bull dog that tryed to bite my kids and that's the biggest NO,NO he had to go. I never had any problems with Pitbulls, that's the only dog that I would Keep around. It's all in the breeding.
I have 4 pit bulls and they are all wonderful and loving and very friendly. Everyone I know that heard bad things about pits have become to like them after seeing my 4 and how well trained they are.
Anything you can do to help educate the public about the true temperment and disposition of Pit Bulls,American Staffordshire Terriers etc.
IT IS THE OWNERS NOT THE DOGS THAT ARE HARMFUL TO SOCIETY!
Pleae, please help us spread the news!
As a owner of (2) Pitbulls I beg you...Please save this breed from anymore inhuman treatment!!! They are the most loyal and loveable dog I've ever met!! I wouldn't have any other breed.
This is a wonderful breed of dog. We need stricter laws to protect them and education for the general public. The public needs to know what the real problem is.
I have had many differnet kinds of dogs but the Pit I currently have has proven herself over and over again to be the most loyal, trustworthy and loving dog I have EVER had! If you look at the real statistics, you will see that Pits are NOT mean by breed. Any dog can be trained to be vicious! Lily is always around babies and children. She loves them! It's all in how you train them!
Pit bulls are great with kids. My dog loves to play with kids & will always protect. We need to stop blaming a great dog breed just because there are some people out there that make the dogs fighting dogs. My dog has learned to get along with our cat too. My PITBULL is the most loyal dog i know.
I have owned many breads of dogs large and small, never have I found a more loving, smart and devoited breed, They are very easy to train and their only downfall is the want to always be buy your side. Please help ing protecting a great breed.
I have two Pit Bulls and they have turned out to be the very best dogs I've ever owned. I will never own another breed. No other dog I've ever had could match the love and devotion these two dogs show.
These dogs are the most loyal and protective dogs I have ever owned and I wouldn't trade 1 of them for the world. They are so friendly and eager to please their owners it makes them the #1 breed in my book. I couldn't ask for a better protector to watch over my kids when I'm not home. I don't trust anyone more than I trust these dogs.
Pit Bulls are no different than any other breed of dog. When they feel threatened or provoked, they defend themselves. Unfortunately, Pit Bulls tend to inflict much more damage on other animals and people than different breeds of dogs. It is OUR responsibility as pet owners to be cognizant of the damage our animals can inflict. Banning pit bulls is simply a case of passing the buck. If the public is that concerned about them, people should be required to be trained in handling them before they are allowed to own one. Go after the backyard breeders and dogfighters, don't make a sweeping judgement that will negatively impact more people than it benefits.
You can likely make a Toy Poodle viscous more easily than the APBT. How many other dogs in history have been bred as intensly to NOT bite humans??
It's all a matter of responsible ownership.
I am lucky to have my Pit Bull still after 11 years. He is the kindest, most gentle dog. He was raised with an toddler, he has been around 2 cats, he has been around several Pit puppies, he has been around all types of other dogs and not once has he attacked or bitten any of them. I know small dogs that are more vicious and aggressive then he. I love my dog and i would not trade him for any other breed. Its the owner, not the dog. Dogs do what they are trained to do. Those that attack without provocation lack training and love.
I agree with most people, it is the owner, not the dog (or Breed) for that fact. You can train any type of dog to be vicious. Pit Bulls just seem to have a bad rap, becuase that is all the media ever says about the breed, you never hear the good stories!
I just hope all those who wish to destroy our breed with laws, and death will open up they hearts and see that they the real killers. Stop the politics, and let us keep breeding and making these dogs better. If you kill one breed you will kill all breeds one day.
I have a pit bull and am fostering one at this time. This breed is a good family pet and is loyal to their family members. The love the attention and love to play all day long. The problem is not the breed; it is the bad owners that make the dog mean. And dog, cat, person and/or other animal can be made to be mean by not socializing them with others as well as just treating them bad. The fighting dogs are trained and made to fight by those who do not care about the breed. I know all dogs have it in them to fight but what I mean by “trained” is they put chains on these dogs starting from a small chain and gradually taking it up to large chains. Next time your driving through Detroit, Pontiac and other large cities where dog fighting is a problem look around and you will see someone walking a dog with a big hugh chain around it’s neck and about 4 to 5 feet of chain trailing between their leg’s. Then ask yourself, why would they be doing that to that poor dog? What kind of person would do such a thing like that to their pet? The answer is they are doing to get the dog conditioned so it is stronger and have more stamina in a dogfight. The kind of person is someone that want to place their dog in a blood sport that not only morally wrong but also illegal. Not to mention you will see a lot of the people walking these dogs are young kids, which is also illegal in some cities. Stop blaming the breed and start looking into the history of the bad owner’s. Yes I said breed instead of pit bull because if and when the pit bulls are out of the daily news some other breed will unfortunlaly take the place. When I was in school I was taught that we must study history so to not repeat it. I ask that you do some history work and look back and see what breed of dog the news has reported only the bad stuff and not the good.
i have never owned a pitbull but i know plenty of people who do and i,ve concluded that any dog including a pit bull will reflect it's owners tendencies. if an owner is irresponsible an encourages agression the dog will reflect that, and if an owner socializes their dog and scolds them for antisocial behavior the dog will reflect those sensibilities. From my experiences with various pit bulls they have proven to be sound and sensible dogs and the few dangerous dogs i've seen were abused by irresponsible owners who don't understand the breed and only know what they see on the media. these people are attracted to the hype and treat their dogs as objects and not as an animal that requires love attention that all dogs crave. the media has portrayed the pit bull unfairly and needs to approach the subject objectively instead of cowing to the emotional and irrational aspects of our society
Trying to take away my right to own APBT'S would in my mind be no different than to take away my right to be an AMERICAN and that is something that I AM PROUD TO BE!!!
It is so sad to see ignorance deprive us of our right to have a magnificent friend, yet what is done about those who break the law? I currently have two pits/AmStaffs - both came from abusive treatment, one was stolen and then was being trained for fighting. It has been a long road for her, but with love, care, training and holistic methods, she has defied the odds. She will be taking her Canine Good Citizen test next month. The fact that she could go through what she did, yet still be able to love and trust is a testiment to the breed. Without a doubt, these are the most affectionate and loving dogs I have ever had the honor of living with. The law should go after those that break it, not those of us who live by it and in fact, clean up after the lawbreakers. You can bet nothing happened to the person who stole her - I tried to keep track but was unable to obtain any more info when the case was turned over to the State Attorney's office. So the perp gets off with nothing, and now they want to make the victim illegal? What kind of justice is that? The city is now considering a breed specific ban, yet what have they done about those criminals that ruin these animals lives? Nothing....too much trouble. Much easier and sounds good politically (to all those who don't know any better) to ban the breed. And this is civilization?
I feel that it is wrong to condem the whole for the actions of a few. I am the mother of two small children and an APBT owner. I can honestly say I wouldn't own any other breed. I would defend these wonderful animals to the end.
As an owner of 3 loving, gentle, and friendly pitbulls, I would defend to the end this breed. We, as a society, need to take a strong stance and make the irresponsible owners accountable for the actions of the unsocialized APBTs since it is the human owners, and the human owners alone, that are the caretakers of these dogs. The dogs are the product of their owners.
I haven't been able to find a good home for my terminally ill sister's sweet pitbull due to all the bad press. There are those they would take her to fight or live in a horrible situation. Please help.
