Working in a shelter I can tell you that they are the breed that LOVES belly rubs the most. They are smart and silly..if given love an a safe place. Our dogs are cast off's, but they still love and trust people. they are the inocents, and people make them what they turn out to be.
The problem is the owners, not the breed. Let's stop punishing the victims and start dealing effectively with the offenders! How about SUBSTANTIAL penalties for these abuses-instead of the wrist slapping
laws we have now. How ridiculous-an owner abuses his dog or has dogfights and the solution is-not to arrest the abuser; but, to take the dog and kill it! What a civilized society we are...
I agree a show is way over due. I am so tired off all the stories on TV being about bites, and fighting. Its no wonder people are so scared. Yes if u havent seen the video it was done great i have it on my profile and my site.
Look I strongly suggest that everyone go and take a look at this web site it has a great word about the so called pitbull problem!! www.deviantart.com/view/1 1454716
It is well worth viewing!! We raise and breed pits and they are all like our children we spoil them all the same and treat them with the same respect you would any other animal just give them all love and they will naturally be good to you!!!
Punish the people not the breed. Why is everybody sterotyping. I was attacked by a black lab and she almost killed me. But I own 3 pitbulls and never been hurt by them. They are such kind genttle soles. I have given my 3 year old neice a puppy who is now one big dog and she can do anything to him.ANYTHING!! How about people just look at the pros of the breed insteed of just saying kill them all. They are as much part of the family as any other. And I will not give up my babys. PITBULLPRIDE!!! Lets all do what we can to fight for our beloved breed.
I own a pit and he is one of the best dogs on the block vocal train by his name there smart dogs if somebody would take care of them instead of fighting them.
I could go on an on about how great my pits are with my kids or all the great rescued pits we have fostered but I wont. Isnt it important to get truth to people. Education is so impotant and lets hear both sides of the pit issues for once.
media focuses on attacks, they need to do a story about the loving, great family pitbulls that are out there
the public has a bad image about these dogs-no fair!!
DON"T PUNISH THE BREED, PUNISH THE DEED!!! I have never owned a pit, but all my life I have always wanted one. I have talked with people that have pits and reading what the other people say on this, I can honestly say I never heard any one tell me that there pit was aggresive, they always tell me that they are like big babies if raised in a good and loving home!! Everyone lets help save these babies!!!
While working with Pit Bulls, I have found them to be a wonderful breed. I hope you will do a segment on them. Show the public that bred and raised correctly, these dogs are some of the best in the world. Thanks for your consideration of this project.
i have 5 pitbulls and 4 grandchildren who run and play with all my dogs at any time.including my 95 pd world wide producer boo boo the king of realdealpits, they are the best dogs the most loyal need your attention
I have 3 pitties and they are the most docile and loveable animals around. It is time you show the real dogs and the responsible owners, not just the negative and irresponsible idiots this world is made up of.I have plenty of pictures and you are more than welcome to come view not only my dogs, but many of our pittie neighbors, and thier interaction with other dogs and humans.
I have recently purchased a pitbull puppy and I am going to treat him as a sweet dog for his life because I know many people who have them and so far I have not meet a mean pitbull yet. Its just all in how they are raised.
No puppy of any breed is born mean, unfriendly, or too aggressive. We need to look more closely at the behavior of the humans around ANY dog accused of ANY inappropriate action.
I've owned the PitBull breed all of My adult life and from the first time i layed eyes on one it was the only breed of dog for me . My current little girl Nena I saved from a guy who had no business owning her in the first place. If I Urge everyone out there to adopt a Pitbull save a life .Sure you can go out and spend money on a pup but there are so many great Pits out there looking for a home Look through the rescue sites and find your forever friend.
I got my Pitbull "Queen" at the age of 2 and I have a 4 year old son. They are just the best together pitbulls make great family pets. Sometimes its harder to make a pitbull a good guard dog. Naturally vicious my butt.
People always think my Dogo is an American Pit Bull Terrier. Just because it looks like an APBT doesn't mean that they are.Alot of these so called "Pit Bull" attacks are not even true APBT.
Pitties are as sweet and snuggly as a stuffed teddy bear. It pains me to see that they, as well as a few other breeds, get a bad reputation because of a few bad apples. Now If only we could muzzle certain humans...........
i was against pits til i began wking in local municipal shelter...since then i have come to love the breed--give me a pit any day! trust them more than many other breeds! they r very upfront type of dogs. once upon a time they were just about our national dog--what happened? bad ppl! as in all the messed up dogs (and cats) who come thru the shelter system. rotties and dobies have gone thru the same discrimination...it is the ppl who should b hung, not the dogs.
I do not own a pitbull, but I do own two related breeds. I own a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and an American Bulldog. These "bully breeds," as they are called, include the American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and American Bulldog. They are all often confused with each other and are not naturally human agressive. In fact they are known to be extrordinarilly good with children and completely loyal to there family and friends. Just like any other dog, or person for that matter, they need to be well socialized. A person who isn't well adapted or adjusted to certain social situations or other people may act out of order and lash out. The same is the case with ANY dog. The bully breeds possess a lot of power, drive, and a willingness to please his/her owner. If this energy is directed in a possitive direction there is no stopping them. If they fall into the hands of an irresponsible owner they can be dangerous. Let's keep in mind that more people are bitten by poodles every year than by pitbulls. BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION IS AN OUTRAGE. Guns kill more people every year than dogs do. I encourage all that care about your dogs, no matter what the breed, to sign this petition. I wouldn't tell you that you can't own a certain breed. So why would it be O.K. for you to tell me the same.
I have raised pits all my life. They have been the best of dogs. My old female recently saved my young male dog by killing the six foot rattler that was in his pen. The rattler killed her. She is a hero and buried in my front yard.
After raising a pit bull and hours of research, I am convinced that pit bulls are the most wrongly maligned dogs in the world today. Unlike the myths propagated by the media, human aggression is NOT a problem specific to the breed. In fact pit bulls tend to do better than average in temperament tests, better than the Golden Retriever. Please visit www.atts.org (The American Temperament Test Society) and find out the truth for yourself. I am a proud owner of a sweet pit bull named, Roxie. Roxie is wondeful with kids and people, she even sleeps with my two cats. The problem is and always has been people not the breed. Please do this story, you will be amazed how sweet these dogs really are. I used to think that all pit bulls were bad dogs (boy was I wrong)

From my experience with pit bulls, I've found them to be an incredibly loyal and sweet natured breed of dogs. I think we need to expose the positive side of this breed instead of only focusing on the negative. People need to know just how mistreated these animals have been and instead of looking at the dogs, there should be more energy spent trying to stop the people that are making these sweet, innocent animals violent. Its the bad owners, not the breed.
Please by all means do this story. I am an animal control officer and I deal with these dogs daily. They have been given a bad rap by people who do not understand the breed. Any dog can be made to be aggressive. Give the real truth on these dogs instead of the sensationalism that follows them.
These dogs are a great breed and wonderful with people...no matter what people say. I live in a college town where everyone has them, and even though all the students are not dog savy, I have not met one aggressive pit bull at all! I have 2 myself and believe them to be one of the most loyal wonderful pets. My dogs haven't been around children much, but are GREAT with them when they are. They also have 2 cats that they love. We've got to get FOX to do this segment! Tell everyone!
I have owned a PitBull ever since i was a little it was introduced to me by a friend and thats been about 15yrs they are one of the most people affectniate dogs you will ever come across if raised by the right people. I have three little girls and my dogs have never given me or my kids any problems.
I have a three year old Pit with 4 young kids. I also have a Doberman which the Pit loves. The Pit is great with the kids and other dog. Oh ya one big problem......she licks the kids alot!
I just got my first Pit Bull Bear 3 months ago. He is our 3rd dog ( other 2 have no pit in them) Out of all 3 dogs Bear is the least of my worries, he LOVES every person he meets and also he LOVES every other dog he meets. When an animal is brought up with love it will show love back! When an animal is brought up with meaness and hatrid that is all it knows,no matter what breed it is! Pit Bulls are the most loving breed of dog, Bear is our first Pit Bull but definality not our last!
I have read that the breed most often reported in dog bite incidenced are labs. No one would think of banning them. It would help to educate the public.
I currently own a 2 year old Pit/Husky mix and he is the sweetest dog I have ever owned! He is very loyal and GREAT with people. Please don't punish the breed - punish the dog fighters and people who train their Pits to be aggressive!
I have owned a couple of Pit Bulls over the past 20 years, If raised correctly they are the best family dogs you could ever hope to own. The media is quick to point out anything negative about this breed.
we just this fall adopted a pit/beagle mix female from a rescue and we are so very glad we did. This is not the first dog we have had but she is one of the best we have ever had. She has become a very special member of our family, we all love her greatly. Shortly after she came to live with us I injuried myself and have not been able to work going on two months, I don't know what I would have done without her company. She has help me to keep my sanity as she goes with me ever where I go in or out of the house.
I have never expearienced more positive interaction with any breed than with the Bull Terrier line. From Staffies to American Bull terriers, you can see a consistant expression of pure emotion. These creatures bring the phrase "man's best friend" to life. Unfortunatley, their dedication and tenacity are often abused by assinine human behavior.
Me and my friend have own many pit-bull and they by far are the best dogs to own and are so beautiful it would be a shame to no longer see this breed around!
I have worked at a shelter for 5.5 years. I have never had a bad experience with any Pit Bull. I think they are one of the most tolerate breeds of dogs out there.
