both me and my son a 3 year old own pit bulls if they were realy bad dogs would i let my son rais them i think not you wana see the real pit bulls come do the covrage at the pit bull show in higginsville mo in may you will see how pitbull owners frome all over the country come to gether it is a all adba show after you spend a day there then you judge my dogs
I used to be scared to death of pit bulls, but that was before I met some! People just are not informed about these wonderful dogs, and they don't know what they are missing.
Pit Bulls are great dogs, you always hear the bad but never the good. Other breeds are more likely to bite than pit bulls but you never hear about them because they aren't a pit.
I was raised around PitBull's, and they were all very obedient and loving dogs. I've never been given so many kisses in my life ! I currently have a PitBull and a beagle, if anything my beagle is the most dangerous of the two! :)
I have 2 Pit Bulls that I rescued from bad people who were fighting and abusing them. Come and meet them before you publish another story about "Evil Pit Bulls with locking jaws and a taste for human blood".
My 3 pitbulls are part of my family, their the biggest babies, so loveable and spoiled. The aggressiveness of the dog depends on the aggressiveness of the owner. It's how you bring up the dogs that make the difference.
ypu have NO idewhat a true pitbull terrier is all about. The little dog on the old RCA records was pitbulland the dog petey on the little rascals was a pitbull also. to have a dog this calm to be seen as a wild uncontrllable dog is just plain wrong. Get the story straight.
Stop trying to treat the symptom by punishing innocent dogs and responsible owners. The punishments need to be aimed at those who intentionally create agressive dogs. Animal abuse and dog fighting should be a felony offense!
Until May of this year, I had the same opinion of Pitbulls as most Americans. But my opinion was formed by the media, not through any first- hand knowledge. In May we adopted two famale APBT. I have had many, many dogs in my life of 53 years. These dogs are, without a doubt, the most loving, obedient and intelligent dogs I've had. They are man's and our cat's best friend. The cruelty of people who fight dogs is what should be banned. I invite you to my home to see how these dogs play with, love and protect children. There is a reason that these dogs were chosen to represent the USA during the world wars. They are trustworthy and unfailingly loyal.
What a shame that such a wonderful dog has received such an unjust reputation because of the cruelty & ignorance of people - the proper thing to target would be the ones RESPONSIBLE for fighting, etc.
People need to be educated on the type of animals that they have in their home and bring to their communities! I love this breed and hope the bad rap will soon be cleared up.
I have owned APBT's for years now, & would not own any other breed. I would trust my 5 year old with a "pit bull" before i would trust him with any other breed. They are kind, loving animals always willing to please. They will do anything to make you laugh. It is time the reporters made things right, & show the positive side to this breed.
I too, was leary of Pit Bulls until I fostered one through our local rescue organization. I have fostered several dogs, but the only one I've ended up keeping was the pitbull. She is the sweetest and most comical dog I've ever know. My grandchildren absolutely love her! It is definately time to stand up for this breed and tell both sides of the story. Mine is a loving family dog and so very tolerant of even small children.
IT WAS THE MEDIA, THAT MADE THE PITBULL THE SCARY INDIVIDUAL, THAT IT IS NOT. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PIT BULLS, THAT WERE BROUGHT UP AS FAMILY HOUSE PETS, AND BROUGHT UP CORRECTLY, WERE ABLE TO LIVE WITH OTHER PITS, AND PETS AS WELL. ITS TIME FOR THE MEDIA, TO OWN UP TO ITS RESPONSIBILITIES, OF CORRECTLY REPORTING THE NEWS, AND SHOW THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PITBULL. THE LOVING FAMILY DOG THEY EASILY CAN BECOME, AS LONG AS THEY BELONG TO OWNERS, WILLING TO TAKE THE TIME TO RAISE THEM CORRECTLY.
These are th emost loyal trustworthy, and gentle animals there are. Instead of all the "pit bull" attacks (which are usually not even pits) they need to be showing some of the "Family" Pitbulls, Or here lets try this, how about do a story on the ignorant mean people that make these dogs mean. People need to be educated on this breed desperately!!
It is wrong to discriminate against a breed of dog who once stood as America's watch dog in World War II. For so many years, Pit Bulls were one of the most loved dogs ever. As time went on, the media came into play and completely destroyed the image of all Pit Bulls. As a highly watched news show, I think it would be kind, brave, and caring fpr you to truly show the people what Pit Bulls are really like. The message of "Punish the Deed, Not the Breed" really needs to be put out there. It would be nice to actually show footage of families with their Pit Bulls and the lives they live. Everybody knows that the media only shows big-headed dogs chained up in terrible environments, which is usually headline news when someone has been attacked. What about the loving, green-eyed, handsome American Pit Bull Terrier who rides around town with his shades on? Of course I am speaking of my very own 1 year old puppy, but I know that there are many others just like him out there. I only wish that someone somewhere would really show what this breed REALLY is. Please help us protect our pets...they are family.
It would be nice, for a change, that the news industry would be resonsable and show both sides of a controversy. Everyone knows that the news agencies report either the left of the right, but never report both sides. Every time there is a "DOG ATTACH", the media always blames a "Pitbull"...The public never finds out the real breed of the dog nor is anyone interviewed that ever says anything positive about and APBT. Is it really in the best interest of the public to be afraid of a breed? I know of several APBT teams that are either involved in search and rescue, requested by NASA, and or in PT. Be responsible...show the other side...the real side...Start making up for all the years of being one sided>Mr. O'Rilly!! P.S.
I own 4 APBT's they play with the nieghbor kids and dogs. They even helped a friend of mine recover from double knee surgery. When was the last time you heard that on the news?
The APBT is the only breed that I trust 100% to be a faithful, loyal and loving companion for my family.I detest all of the negative media hype against this breed and hope that more people will educate themselves regarding this wonderful breed. It is up to us,the responsible owners, to represent our dogs and inform the uneducated about our dogs.It is a tremendous responsibility to own an animal and even more so if you own a dog that is being unjustly persecuted.PLEASE people look at the real facts and statistics before condemning the entire breed by a few bad dogs/owners/breeders.Anyt hing with teeth can be taught to bite and any animal that is abused can become aggressive. If a dog is human aggressive it should be put down{ no matter what breed} but in the same regard.......the owner and breeder should be carefully looked at.Punish the deed and not the breed!I wish that more people could think for themselves and discover the truth that the media has in the past hid.The APBT is not only a trustworthy breed but a friend to all for life! The neighbors children knock on my door and ask if my dogs can come out to play.....not my kids, but my dogs. Some vicious breed huh?I hope that a positive story is told about the breed and more people realize that this breed is not a hazard to the public but indeed a true friend!
Anyone can show the propaganda--someone needs to show the truth. Even people that work with animals daily have a better chance of being struck by lightning than of being bit by a pit bull.
I have 3 pitbulls, and everyone who comes in contact with them loves them. All the neighborhood kids know them and play with them when they see them. If the critics would do their research they would see pitbulls are very family oriented dogs.
Punish the deed not the breed. I have a few APBT's.My friends come over play with my dogs my kids friends come over and play with my dogs. You couldn't ask for a better breed.
I WORK AT A SHELTER AND SEE MANY PITS AND MIXES. MOST ARE INCREDIBLE WITH PEOPLE HOWEVER THEY ARE ALSO THE FIRST TO BE EUTHANIZED BECAUSE MOST OF THE PEOPLE THAT WANT THEM ONLY WANT THEM TO BREED OR FIGHT. IT IS HARD TO GET "NICE" FAMILIES TO LOOK PAST THE HEADLINES AND EVEN INTERACT WITH ONE OF THESE INCREDIBLE PETS. THE SEGMENT WOULD BE WONDERFUL IF THEY COULD IMPRESS ON PIT OWNERS THAT THEY DON'T NEED TO MAKE MORE FOR QUITE A WHILE AS THERE ARE PLENTY AT ALL SHELTERS AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
I think that along with a program that tells the good side of these awesome dogs, perhaps they should include a segment that tells the actual dog bite statistics. How many dogs attack children and other animals every day that aren't pit bulls? It's about time the stigma was lifted.
I am a dog trainer from D.C. These are great dogs, ive been working with them for five years now. I will never own another breed of dog. If you need me or my dogs for a demo or to sign anti BSL just let me know.
i have owned and bred pit bulls for several years now.my kids love them and they love my kids.they have never shown aggression towds any of us.pit bulls have a bad rep because the media gives them 1.please show that theese dogs are what they truely are.a asset to any family.
Beautiful dogs that have received negative attention due to some unscrupulous owners. It's time to end the common stereotype that all pits are nasty fighters out for blood. visit your shelter and spend some time with one, you'll change your mind.
All dogs CAN be mean, if you don't work with them. Unfortunately there was a time when pits WERE bred for fighting, and now even with proper "parenting", we have to fight the stigma that our baby is a vicious killer. When my puppy was 8 weeks old people would ask if he was dangerous! Sure, just as dangerous as your 6 month old baby!! Word needs to get out that it is completely unfair to judge these beautiful animals based on things that happened decades ago.
I own 7 American Pit Bull Terriers, and have never had even one of them show the least bit of aggressiveness towards me, my family, or anyone else who has come by. They absolutely LOVE everyone. I have a 5 year old son, and they are great with him. I have bred 2 litters, and even during motherhood, my dogs are not aggressive towards people. I have also had occasion to visit with many others' American Pit Bull Terriers. I have never once felt threatened by any of these dogs. Even when coming into someone's yard as a complete stranger, their dogs were always welcoming. With all the bad press these dogs get thanks to unscrupulous breeders/owners, it's about time the breed had some good press. If FOX were to air a story showing the true nature of this great breed, it would do immeasurable good. Take a look at my website and see my dogs interacting with my family and son. www.spencerpits.com
I just got my second pit bull yesterday, and contrary to popular belief, they are very kind, affectionate, loyal dogs when raised properly. Any dog can be mean if trained to be. Please get the word out that in most cases, the problem isn't the dogs, it's owners with bad intentions.
I am a volunteer for my local animal shelter. The majority of the dogs that come in are pitt bull terriers so I get to work with this breed regularly. Some of them are abused and neglected so they come in scared. This is a wonderful breed. Despite being mistreated I must say these dogs are some of the kindest dogs I've come in contact with. They are loyal and friendly, very affectionate. The pitt bull breed has a bad reputation because many news channels only run negative stories on them. The public would enjoy seeing what this breed is really about and how wonderful these dogs can be with proper care and training. They are very quick learners and aim to please their owners. They just need owners who can return all the love they have to give.
i have three, and three kids.. i have never had a bad time with any of my dogs, they love my kids and sleep with the children every night..
i wish people would give them a chance to redem there reputation as killers...
I have owned and raised Pitts for over 20 years.. My dogs have never been mean or turned on anyone.. Its all in how they are raised as with any dog when raised to be aggressive they will be.. I have a brand new grand baby and feel confident that he also like his daddy and uncles can be raised with my dogs.. I have owned up to 20 at the same time and they are the most loving dogs around.. I have owned from Pitts to chows, Doberman, labs, chulua poms, its all in how any dog is raised... Branding your dogs to be hateful is MANS way to not accept that HE has raised animals to be aggressive and these Pitts don't deserve to be branded dangerous.. Please show a show of the other side.. the gentle nature of a Pitt.. the loyalty to his family.. I would watch it and would ask others to also watch..
I am a breeder in FL and all I can say is Thank You for giving these loving dogs a voice. Man is the only one capable of creating a problem like this, and if no one helps these great pets, They will be gone and the process will start again with another breed. Thank you
We own 2 pitbulls- Scarlett is 2 yrs and Mojo is 10 mos old. These dogs are the sweetest and most loving dogs I have ever seen. They like to meet new people and are very friendly. We also have an 8 yr old son, and he and the dogs get along very well. Little boys play rough, and these dogs take it in stride and lick him as if saying, "Thanks for noticing me!!"
Pitbulls are not inherently aggressive. When treated well, they are incredibly sweet and loving dogs who only want to please and to get love and affection.
I have owned and rescued pitbulls for 7 years...they are the sweetest most loyal dogs you'll ever know. I have a 3 year old and a one year old, and my dog just LOVES her. This breed is just so misunderstood due to irresponsible owners and breeding. I take my pitbull everywhere with me, and everyone she meets cant get over how much of a sweetheart she is, with people and animal alike.
This breed is not born aggresive. Any animal abused, given illegal drugs, gun powder, withheld food from, chained will become aggresive. I know this breed and they are a wonderful loving intelligent breed. Remember they were once used to protect children. How many attacks did we hear of ten years. NONE. Think about this. Pitbull fighting and the abuse of these animals is what makes these animals attack. STOP THIS RIDICULOUS BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION.

My daughter has a pitbull and she is just the sweetest little girl. She loves everyone. I just left their house and for the past hour & 1/2 the dog was sleeping in my lap, while I was watching TV. I had to crawl out from under her to get up and I felt guilty for leaving her.
These are great and very loyal and affectionate dogs. It is the people who raise them, as they could do to any dog, to be vicious. They are like any other dog- if they are raised with affection and love they will be that way. In the 1930s and 40's these were the dogs most people had-remember the dog on the Little Rascals. He was a PitBull and around all of those children. Give them a break and if you are aware of any which are being mistreated help them out if you can.Eradicate dog fighting- make it a priority and this will really help the situation.
Pit bulls are awesome dogs and deserve all the help that we can give. I just wish that you picked a better network that is concerned about animals instead of their political agenda.
