i have been a pit bull owner for 15 years and let me tell you this is by far the most intelligent breed of dog in this world , you couldnt find and compare it to any other breed in the world , that speak for itself in all departments , please we need to educate ourselves and not allow the ghetto thugs that have gotten a hold of our trustworthy breed and now it has come to this , we need to bring into light the postitve sides of the breed and Once we do this we will find the positive outweighs the negitives , compare the stories and you will see they all have simlarities , thats the true side of our dogs! our breed that we love so much is in threat of dieing because the goverment wants to kill it off , whyy?? will this solve the problem?? the thugs will only move onto another breed and make that one mean and ruin it and so on and soo forth , what are we going to do? bann all the breeds one by one?? nooo! we need to ban the thugs that have access to the dogs and promote responsible ownership , its always been a people problem , never a dog problem. we have never solved A problem by breaking off a few branches...we need to get to the root of it all , and its the people , never the dogs that we need to focus on...you give someone access to make their voices heard on a national level and if that voice is heard believe me weather there right or wrong , it will make an impact on peoples outlook on it...my point is the media knows nothing about the breed of which it writes about time and time again....PLEASEE WE NEED TO STOP THIS RASIST BSL , WE NEED TO MOVE FOWARD , NOT BACKWARDS....STOP BSL....you want to kill off my dogs?....only if you kill me off with them. i will fight FOR my beautiful dogs till the end. do the right thing fox 5 .
I have rescued and fostered many dogs of all breeds and sizes. My Pit Bull female is a tremendous help in assisting me in the care of the rescues. She teaches manners, patience, house & yard rules, how to be friendly to all, and not bark. She loves all people and tolerates the many dogs who have found temporary sanctuary in our home. She is an extremely reliable and tolerant dog--and she is a Pit Bull. They don't get any better than that!
The apbt was a world war 1 hero. his name was stubby, and he was a pit dog!!! the stability and maintnence of this breed has gone awry since these crazy animal maniacs have attacked this wonderful warrior breed! say the same stupid crap you say about the pitbull and direct it twords golden retrevers and what do you get? a destroyed breed! you will start to see them pop up in ghettos, in crack houses! The pitbull is the all american dog, and he is a warrior just like our troops. why dont you sterio type them? stone them to death! they would die for you and so would a pitbull! do realize this trait came from dog fighting! they love to fight, and ther owners love them. Nobody shoots dogs up with weird shit. they dont beat their dogs. a dog must be strong and confident, not scared to death! if anybody cares about animals like they say, then do your research. the only way to maintain a safe pitbull breed is through gameness. you must realize this. these dogs are not forced to fight. this is what they love, and only crack dealers and imbisols abuse these fine animals! the true dogman is someone who cares about thier pit dogs, and a lot of them are very religous people, and love animals. the problem is not the fighting dog itself, but the sterio type that has been bestowed on them by lunitic animal rights idiots who are blindsighted by what they formed in thier amagination and preached enough to us stupid americans so much that we are unable to make a informed decision because if we hear it enough, it must be true, right? The dogs are innocent....the owners are to blame! Step up the cruelty to animal laws and enforcement, PLEASE! These people sicken me!!! And the same goes for Rottweilers---they are great pets too.
I have volunteered with humane societies and various breed rescue organizations for a considerable amount of time and have never seen an agressive pit that did not have reason [read: prior abuse] to be fearful and defensive towards people. Animals are not irrational beings- if an animal does something that you do not like, there is an explanation for that action. However, people don't like that because it puts the responsibility on them.
How else would animals be treated in a society (the US) which has such a focus on retribution instead of rehabilitation, however?

We have a 3 year old Pit Bull who sleeps with us at night and is the most docile of our 4 dogs (lab, golden retriever & pit-bull lab mix) and so loving, but she has been brought up with nothing but love, you can make ANY breed mean!
In 2001, the Pomeranian killed double the number of people the American Pit Bull Terrier did. Poms killed 2 people, Pits killed 1 person.
Should the media do stories about the ferocious and vicious Pomeranian?
at this point, i think the irresponsible owners should be the ones put down, not the beautiful dogs that had no choice then to be raised in these terrible homes!!
It is a known fact that these breeds are the best to raise with children because of their high tolerance/threshold to pain. Therefore allowing the children to rough house them, pushing, pulling, and playing with them, forming a wonderful pet/child bond!!!
Iam an owner of two pitbulls and I think my dogs are some of the best dogs personality wise and I can"t believe how some people let their mix dogs run around free in the neighborhood some of them are real aggressive andchase kids and also try to bite them.Is what really pisses me off is you call the humane society on the mix dogs they don"t come out but bet your ass if it was one of my bulldogs they would be right over and. In oklahoma the dog pounds only hold pitbulls for 3 days and then they put the dogs down and I think that is abunch of crap. Pitbulls if raised with responibility are the best damned dogs in the world.Where people make mistakes is going in somebodies yard without permission and not knowing what is in there.With any type of dog if they don"t know you they will protect their territory.My mom had a little yorki and that dog would attack for no reason I think people need to look at the personallity of each individual animal before judging if it is vicious or not cause they cantest my pitbulls any day of the week I love the breed of dogs in my yard . I am an owner of a 1 year old female American Pitt Bull and i feel so bad for this breed. My dog loves anyone that comes to visit. By no means is mine pitt or any other pitt born aggressive towards people they are what people raise them to be. OWNERS ARE RESPONSABLE FOR WHAT THEY MAKE THEIR DOG DO AND BECOME NOT THE ANIMAL. I think its time that people see the real pitt bull! See the lovers they truely are!
I have a 2year old Amercan Pitbull Terrier and she stays at my parents work while I am at school and work and there are customers coming and going all day and she is always very nice and people look forward to coming in just to see her. You really should inform people about the true nature of this breed.
We are older adults w/a 5 yr. old pitbull. She works everyday with us and is a goodwill ambassador to our business. Everyone loves her. Don't ban a breed you know nothing about!!
I'd love to see a responsible, researched and non-biased news program for once about "dangerous" breeds. I think you'll find that more often than not, the owners are more to blame than the dog (any breed).
pit bulls account for less than 2% of all dog bites each year in the states. Labs and retrievers account for far more: why don't we see news headlines in these instances? It's about time pit owners started a petition such as this one. As with a child, all that dogs need and want are time and love. In my observation, pit bulls have been some of the greatest responders to love and affection I have ever seen. Best dogs on the planet, period.
we have three pit bulls and have had them for three years and have never seen any signs of agression from any of them. i dont think the breed should be punished for irresponsible owners.
I work at a vet clinic, and we NEVER have to muzzle any Pit Bull patients. Neither the Center for Disease Control nor the American Veterinary Medical Association endorse breed-specific legislation and they say there is no evidence at all that supports the myth that Pits are inherently dangerous. I have 2 Pit Bulls who love everyone, especially children. My dogs are sweet and gentle and pose no threat to anybody. Pit Bulls excel as therapy dogs and there is a dynamic duo who are licensed search-and-rescue dogs in Sacramento, CA. Because Pit Bulls are strong and have a bad reputation, they sometimes fall into the wrong hands. Any dog of any breed can be made aggressive if starved and beaten. A lot of Pits are dumped because people cannot make them mean. An abused dog should not be banned. People are the problem, not the dogs!!!
I have a 3year old son and a 9 year old pit bull, that has NEVER scared me nor my son. My pit bull is the best dog in the world, no dog could ever compare. Stupid people say stupid things.

I'v had my Pitbull terrier for a long time never had any problems with it at all. Aside from what stories say and what people want to think, most people who make judgements on the Pitbull terrier dont even own them.I for one can vouch that the pitbull like any other Dog is a great pet, it does well with children and other animals. The very few handful of irresponsible people who dont care for their pitbulls and abuse them, and when thier horror stories hit the news everyone and there mother decides that they know for a fact that pitbulls as a breed are blood thirsty killing machines. People's ignorance of the APBT breed will never cease to amaze me. The media (and others) have created such a rotten image of these dogs and it's truly unfair and undeserved. Please show the real FACTS about the APBT, not just the extremely lopsided opinion that we always see in the headlines.
I wouldn't trade my APBT for any other dog breed! He is a wonderful, goofy companion and incredibly affectionate, but is also a good protector. I plan to adopt another pitbull or pitbull mix as soon as I can.
Stop making our dogs look bad on tv. We have alot of good dog owner out here. And we need to stop supporting show like Animal Cops, because all they do is hate pitbulls without giving them a chance. And thats how others learn to hate our breed without being around them once to see how they are. Loyal and loving animals.
After my experiences working as a veterinary technician and a great deal of research, I deliberately CHOSE the pitbull as the best family companion-BSL is a complete disservice to the breed that has an often-ignored history as the "ultimate companion animal" I'd personally feel safer in this city if more effort was spent on gang activity and dog-fighting than cracking down on responsible pit owners. I am the VERY PROUD owner of an American Pitbull Terrier. ANY dog can be aggressive when an irresponsible owner or breeder is involved! The breed itself is not vicious, they are very loving and loyal. And they have more HEART than most dogs! I, for one, would hate to see the breed banned due to mis-representation.

I have raised pits for over 20 years. I raised four kids with my pits and always knew I could leave the kids at home with my dogs and know that they would be safe. You could not ask for a more loyal friend. They will die for thier owner.

I work in a shelter where I see pit bulls brought in all the time. People use them for fighting and they give them a bad rep! They are really very sweet and loving dogs.

I have 2 pitbulls and I have two 4 years old girls and I would never buy a different breed. My dogs treat my girls like they are one of them. My pitbulls are the sweetest dogs and most gentle dogs I have ever known or been around. I have also owned a lab.
BSL simply is not an effective method for reducing dog bites. The real solution is to stiffen penalties for dog owners of ANY breed who go out and bite someone. The breed of dog is irrelevant, it is the bite that matters.
I adopted my pitbull 2 years ago, he had been abused and was shy and afraid. After two years of love and a proper training, he's become the sweetest dog I have ever had in my life.
To be useful, legislation must be effective, enforcible, economical and reasonably fair. The legislation that is before the Province of Ontario right now fails all of these tests. It is motivated by fear and lack of relevant knowledge. It is discriminatory, impractical and unenforceable. Worst of all, it will not solve the problems of dog bites or attacks.
My girlfriend and I own 1 pit bull mix and 1 pit bull. They are both rescues and are the most wonderful dogs. They were both severly abused before us and they are still the most loveable, sweet dogs EVER!! I believe its the owner not the dogs. Don't punish the dogs for something or someone that is not their fault.
