The answer is Dangerous Dog Legislaltion. Education and stricter laws directed to owners and breeders of these dogs are necessary to help with the problem of dog attacks.
banning a breed will not solve the problem, the acts of individual dogs, regardless of breed need to be addressed. Surely dogs have history of poor temperament long beofre escalating to a severe bite.... Lets get to those owners and their dogs before an attack happens..
It's the people who have inbred this breed that are at fault.Instead of breeding to improve the breed, this sort of disgusting individual is only interested in making a few bucks, knows nothing about genetics and really does not care.Pits are in actuality Staffordshire Terriers, they have been identified as pits due to the exploitation by people who were more interestd in blood sports, rather than providing a loving home for these animals. Those that neglect, and exploit these dogs should be punished and not just given a slap on the wrist. Dogfights are still legal in some states, fix that and educate the people! Pits are wonderful, it's the people who neglect and exploit these animals that are not wonderful.
I hope that this helps out to reach the goal...My dog is the love of my life, and has been put through to much to be taken from me now. Sorry won't happen now or ever.
I hope you reach the goal for 10000 signatures!Maybe it can open the eyes for those who think that there are a problem with these dogs.. The only problem with SOME of these dogs are their owners! Good luck. Bianca from Denmark.
I wish you all the best of luck! I live in Denmark, and bsl have been a reality since 1991. I hope you will get across with your message!
regards, Jacob
Responsible dog ownership, of all dog breeds is the solution, not breed bans. The dogs, especially Pitbulls are also victims. It is my very great pleasure, and privilige to be a petbull owner (for the last 23 years)
It would be great for FOX to cover this much needed situation. Pit Bulls are loving dogs and it is unfortunate, that due to some irresponsible owners, they are getting such a bad rep.
Pitbulls are very loving dogs.We have three kids age 10,4 and 2 and they all love pitbulls so much (okay the 2 year old loves all dogs). To have a ban on what kind of dog someone can own is a SHAME
Dog bites are an owner issue not a breed issue. All dogs require responsible dog ownership ,all dog breeds can and have been attributed for at least one recorded death.I say PETA come out of the closet where you hide your hidden agenda ,the agenda of eliminating all dogs from being owned period.
I am a resident of Ontario, Canada. You might have heard there is legislation to ban Am Pit; Am Staff; and Brit. Staff. This is absolutely moronic legislation. I hope Fox does this but unfortunately we cannot get Fox News in Canada--too conservative for Canadian ears! Keep pushing for the preservation of these great breeds and pets and lets vote to muzzle our ignorant leaders who advocate Breed Specific Legislation!
Pitbulls are LOVABLE animals. It is wrong see them as VISCIOUS. own a pitbull and raise a pitbull, then you will realize how much love this breed has to offer. I would not own any kind of breed but this because I KNOW how much love pitbulls have for their owners. WHY BAN the breed that loves you so much? sure you see so much publicity on how viscious this dog is, but that is just publicity, it all depends on the owner, and these days people appreciate this breed a lot and raise it in a different manner, so everyone should understand that BANNING IS WRONG!!! ITS A LIFE!! SAVE IT!!!
Dogs aren't bad, its how they are raised. Don't be biased about a breed because humans are ignorant. Pits are wonderful, intelligent dogs. I am proud my pup is half Pitbull.
EVERY dog, regardless of breed,is the product of thier enviroment. Every dog has teeth. Every dog is capable of biting. And it is EVERY dogs right to be owned by a responsible human being.
I have owned pit bulls for many years now, and not one has ever bitten anyone in my family, or who has came over (public). They love children and love to play. They are really sweet dogs, and are not the bad dogs people say they are. These dogs have a bad reputation because of the people that are irresponsible and have abused and neglected them. What makes a dog bad is it's owner, not it's breed. Any dog that has been aggressive is because of how they were raised. This goes with all dogs, but people only notice it in pit bulls. People shouldn't judge pit bulls if they have never owned one. People only show the bad things these dogs do, but never show the good. Love your dog! Love pit bulls!
With all that is wrong in this world, one would think fearmongering against dogs wouldn't even be on the radar. American Pitbull terriers, like any other breed is a dog. A beautiful, loyal breed that for some unknown reason the media makes out to be the antichrist owned by satan worshippers. This attitude discusts me. I ask a simple question. I know that there are at least 200 people, the statistics tell us, that own Pontiacs, and drive drunk. Therefore, by their way of thinking, all of us who drive Pontiacs must be drunks who drive. Better start pullin' all the Pontiacs off the road!!! Let's hear it people, please sign a petition to ban that make of vehicle. Absurd thinking? You bet, now all you silly media types and polititions head for your time-out chairs and don't come out until you're ready to tackle some real problems.
One of the best dogs I ever owned was a Red Nosed Pit. My 2 year old son used to ride her around like a horse. Not once was she ever a threat! There are NO BAD DOGS just BAD DOG OWNERS.
I believe that all dogs are not mean and it is all the way that the owner raises the dog. Pitbulls are great dogs and I love them and won't own anything else.
we know of 3 Pit Bulls in family situations that do wonderfully. All are from Rescue, 2 badly abused by former owners. For 2 of the families, this is their second Rescued Pit Bull.
I have always believed that after every and each tragedy when a pitbull attacked other dog or person, it is the owner who should be put to sleep and not the dog.
Some dogs to carry a temper, but it is up to the owner to be responsible with this type of dog. My dog is very temper, but I'm very aware and extremely careful with him. So can you! He still my best friend!
pit bulls are dogs that are very loving and caring for every person they come in contact with. majority of pit bulls are PROVOKED to do the bad things that are shown on television.
Pit bulls are the greatest dogs in the world! They're great with children. Very playful and make great companions who want only to please their family! It's not the dog's nature that's to blame for their behavior but how they are trained and raised that makes that difference.
bad dogs arent born. it's certainly not bred into them. bad owners make aggressive dogs. too bad we cant ban the people instead. tons of other breeds are known for attacks.. its not the breed.. its how the dog is taught. i have owned one of the sweetest dogs possible. he was great. he was gentle and very loving. guess what? he was a pit bull terrier. this ban is crazy!
I have been a CKC member, registered breeder, and active dogsport participant for decades. I also have a university education, am a business executive, published journalist and responsible tax-paying citizen. Get the picture?? I also own American Pit Bull Terriers.
C'mon Fox, put your money where your reporting is, and show the RIGHT side of this breed!!
Don't condemn a breed of dogs. Punish the owners and closing down the dog fighting rings and BYB would certainly be a step in the right direction. Owners are the dangerous ones, not the dog.
Pitsbulls are unfairly maligned. Why not spotlight the irreponsible owners, and the criminals who abuse pits and other breeds in fighting, puppy mills, backyard breeding?
I have 2 adult Am-staffs that would die to protect myself and my grandchildren, they are the most gentle dogs in the world. Ignorant owners, that's what ruinins this breed name.
While competing in weight pull competitions over the last two and a half years, I have come in contact with a vast amount of 'PITBULLS'. Ranging in size from 40lbs. to 125lbs. ALL great competitors, with one common thread:
All were very well
mannered dogs!! It is not, nor can it ever be the 'BREEDS' fault, for the ALL TO MANY ignorant/irresponsible HUMANS, that have RUINED and continue to RUIN this wonderful breed. Those same people should be held accountable for not doing the right thing with their dogs and by their dogs. Until the DEED is whats punished, NO BANS are ever going to eradicate the WRONG
type of people who will continue to own these dogs, even if they have to go 'underground' to still have them.
There is a 'ban' on drugs in america. They are illegal. Does that mean that AMERICA doesn't have a DRUG PROBLEM??? I think not! One could do a survey, and figure out which race of man, commits the most murders. Does that mean we enact a 'BAN' on this entire race and rid the earth of them?? Sounds ridiculous, but what is so different?? A life is a life!!!
While some may feel that a 'human' life is 'above' or more 'superior' to that of a dog, not EVERYBODY believes that. I'd defend my dogs, just as fiercly and swiftly as I would my own son. For most responsible owners, dogs are not 'pets' to us, they are 'FAMILY'!!
By and large, the 'MEDIA' has never gone out of their way to search/research the
'GOOD'/'FEEL-GOOD' stories on this breed, but let one negative story happen and it will be plastered from one end of the earth to the other.
To add to that, most people couldn't pick out a TRUE American Pit Bull Terrier out of a lineup of 5 dogs that are built similarily! So now we have people, that are putting bans on breeds, and they don't even know what they are?? Would you let a Nuclear Engineer perform Brain surgery on you?? I wo
The real problem is with owners who are physically and mentally cruel, inhumane, and some murders to these dogs. Living like that, how would most people turn out? We don't ban vehicles because they kill people, we punish the human element for irresponsibility. Dogs of all breeds have been man's best friend since before homo sapien sapiens, so why is there a problem now? Answer: the HUMAN Element!
Think of a dog, forced to fit for its life or die. The horror and terror associated with your skin being ripped off and punctured... Please share that the "fight" in a pit bull is a learned behavior taught by the least of our society. Let the most of our society do what we can to prevent pain for all.
