I encourage severe and aggressive prosecution of PEOPLE who abuse/misuse animals. Humane education of the public, including children and law enforcement officers is essential.
Banning the breed is not the right thing to do. Breed specific legislation and other types of discrimination are unfair. Ban the deed, and not the breed. Pitbulls only make up 1.8 % of all dog bites.
The city of Pasco is trying to put a band on the pit bull and or related dangerious dogs. What they need to know is that the dogs aren't dangerious the people that own them are. So what they nned to do is put a ban on the dangerious people out there. BAND THE DEED, NOT THE BREAD If any has any question about my dog and how dangerous she is they can contact me at pit68bull@excite.com This way they can see how calm a pitbull is....
I hope someday to be the owner of a pit bull.. it is not the dogs who are bad, it is the people who buy them with the only intention of fighting them that are.
THE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIOR IS A VERY LOVING UNDERSTANDING AND AFFECTIONATE ANIMAL. ALWAYS FORGIVING AND READY TO DO ANYTHING AT ANY COST TO PLEASE HIS MASTER. THIS BREED IS, IN MY OPIONION, THE MOST LOYAL BREED OUT THERE. I OWN A 3 YEAR OLD MALE RED NOSE PIT, AND HE IS THE HAPPIEST AROUND SMALL CHILDREN AND FAMILY. ALL THEY WANT IS TO BE LOVED AND ACCEPTED. I JUST WISH THE MEDIA AND THE PUBLIC WOULD GIVE THEM A STANDING CHANCE.
I had a Pit Bull and she was the best baby in the world till she crossed the Rainbow Bridge! Please do this report so that we can get the Pit Bull the proper acknowledgement and not the horror behind the name. They are wonderful dogs!
I think that you, the news media, owes it to us pitbull lovers/owners to finally make an attempt to properly represent these dogs. In 99% of news stories targeting these dogs the information is INCORRECT or INCOMPLETE, and the story is presented the way it is only to create ratings because the newsmedia has decided to focus these poor dogs. I know this as a former animal control officer who sees the news jumping on and creating stories about a pitbull if it breathes wrong, but when I was working and a lab jumped out of a moving car and mauled a grandmother putting grandchildren into her car at a grocery store parking lot, no one targeted that dog, no one even cared. Well, not only does your coverage create more and more prejudice, but the stigma around these dogs that the newsmedia has created is why people think it is a good idea to ban these dogs. So, indirectly, you, the newsmedia, promote/encourage breed specific legislation (the banning of a breed)...The consequences; all of these dogs could end up dead because of preconceived, false ideas that the average joe has that they have learned from you, the American media. You think you get good ratings for negative press? How about you finally properly represent the positive members of this breed (which largely outweighs the negative), and I promise you your ratings will be incredible. Pit bull lovers from all over, vets, animal control officers, shelter workers, etc. will ALL tune in to finally see the truth being said about the dogs we love! Look at government temperament statistics, learn the facts! Do a story on non profits like the one I work with (hot water rescue) who battle ignorance every day and try to protect misunderstood breeds. Talk about Helen Keller's seeing eye dog being a pit bull! Talk about pits as therapy dogs, police dogs, etc...There are many amazing members of the canine community that are Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Dobermans, rare breed mastiffs, etc...It is time they were
I went to 4H Dog CAmp this year and we had several Pit Bulls and PIt Bull mixes. Did anyone of these dogs attack any one or their dog? No. Please stop the discrimination and show the truth about Pitbulls.
It cannot be said enough: there are no bad dogs, there are bad owners and bad breeders. "Pits" are some of the nicest family dogs one can own if LIKE ANY OTHER BREED they are treated kindly and trained well by loving owners. I own German Shepherds and I hear all the same nonesense about them, I love to show those nay-sayers pictures of my toddlers crawling all over my dogs :) Everyone I know who owns Pits, even ones rescued from fighting backgrounds, have delightful sweet-natured animals that love their people and are friendly with all new-comers.
THE DOGS SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED, THE PEOPLE THAT TREAT/RAISE/TRAIN/BREED THESE DOGS IN INHUMAME & CRUEL MANNERS NEED TO BE PUNISHED AS HARSHLY AS POSSIBLE!!! Just think what they could do with humans if & when they think they can get away with it ... there are statistics on it, and they are sickening!
Pit Bulls, although one of the most gamest and competent K9‘S, they possesses the capability and willingness to be gentle, loyal and even-tempered. A Pit Bull has extremely powerful jaws that APPEAR to lock when biting aggressively. However, as known to man, no! breed is capable of actually locking the jaw when biting!. The belief that the Pit Bull is a killer or is prone to unwarranted attacks is unreasonable, unproven, and lacks merit. In fact, if properly bred, Pit bulls have been used as therapy providers for the disabled and elderly patients due to their affectionate demeanor. Pit Bulls, contrary to uneducated belief, are very loving, playful, protective, and intelligent.
Its breeder and owner’s that drive the character of a Pit Bull. Vicious behavior is LEARNED and not INSTINCTIVE for most domesticated animals. In essence, the owner dictates the type of dog he/she owns. Recognizing the temperament of your dog and determining if professional training is needed is the duty of a responsible owner. Educating YOURSELF about the Pit Bull through credible resource materials should increase your comfort level and appreciation of the Pit Bull. Avoid accepting information given by those who are truly UNKNOWLEDGEABLE and unfamiliar about the breed. Remember, ANY BREED , from the smallest to the largest, is cable of launching an attack. However, socialization at a very young age is a key to establishing peaceful cohabitation with any breed.
How are the behavioral patterns of the Pit Bull with children and/or other animals?
The Pit Bull can be an excellent companion for the right owner. Pit Bulls seek and adore the affection of all family members. They can be excellent pets due to their keen intelligence, trainability and desire to please .
Early socialization and training if needed are keys to responsible ownership of a Pit Bull.
PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED ! PLEASE STOP BREED BANNING .
I have the most wonder Pitty ever. I never would have thought that I would be the owner of a Pit Bull, and happened upon it accidentally, but he has been the best thing that ever happened to me. I had a lot of dogs growing up, and not one was ever a sweet, kind, or as loyal as Maximus. He is a wonderful addition to my family, and I have never felt safer in my life. If I ever get another dog(s), they will definetly be pits, they are just as much of my family as anyone else. Give them a chance!!!
I've known many pitbulls, and all have been good natured and protective of their families.
IT IS THE HUMANS WHO RAISE THEM THAT MAKE A DOG WHAT IT IS. HUMANS JUST SUCK AT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY.
Pits are the some of the sweetest, goofiest dogs I've ever met. The fight trainers need to get a real punishment for what they do and society needs to leave the little sweethearts alone.
ok itz time for the media to stop useing pitbulls to up there ratings cause thats what they do they are not youe steping stones to better ratings. the media knowz people are scared of pits because of all the BS they have already put out .itz like wanting to go and see the latest scarey movie just to get the thrill or get scared whatever it is thats the same method the media use to get u intrested in watching "better rateing" dont be that dumby on the couch buyin in to what they say do some reseach about the breed and maybe when u understand it better u will get one i bet on it. the "american" pitbull is a wonderfull breed.in closein i'd like to say "u have to love before u can hate something".......god bless....
the herrera family
I LOVE PITS!...don't be affaird of them...they sense everything, if you fear, they'll pick it up as a threat. And not all pits are bad, if they're bad, its because of there owners. Bad training results to bad nature. So give your dog some love, don't abuse them (emotional/pshyical/negle ct) because it'll show, and give pits a bad name. So get it together people...aloha..
The sickness of hating and fearing something because you have been taught to is cured through learning the truth of that thing. Please help people unlearn the prejudice against pit bulls. Pits = love. It’s that simple.
Pitbulls are not all that bad. It depends on the owner and how he/she treats it. If it treats it bad.. its gonna be bad...if the owner treats it good...then it would be good. But yea..Pitbulls are not naturally agressive. Like i said..it depends on the owner. But overall PITTBULLS are TIGHT dogs.
Pitbulls are not naturally agressive. The pitbull is a dog..a dog is a dog...if u raise any dog to be mean its going to be mean. They are grat family pets and are good guard dogs. I have a pitbull n she loves people shes still a puppy. Its sad how the news only portraits the bad side of the animal, when in reality golden retreivers labs cockerspaniels and a number of other dogs are more accountable for dog bites. Pitbulls are not vicious killer dogs. If ya ask me chihuahuas are alot worse. The media seems to only focus on the "pitbull attacks" alot of the time its not even a pitbull. If anything we should put the owners to sleep instead of the dog. Humans get away with murder in prisons and what not but a dog bites someone and its killed. makes sense eh.
When I first got my pitbull, my mother refused to let "that thing" in the house, because of the fear that it would turn on one of us. I was attacked by the family German Shepard when I was 3 and almost bled to death, and ever since, my mom has had a serious fear of large dogs. She bought into all the negative media about pit bulls, and it wasn't till our frisky little pup who refused to let my mother dislike her grew up that my mom realized how amazing an animal Jinger truly is. Now, 11 yrs later, my mother is an outspoken advocate for the breed. She babies Jinger, who is old but still got it, and shares her love with other pitbulls who have not been so fortunate by working with a rescue organization in the South Bronx that specializes in pitbulls. If after almost losing me, her youngest child, to a dog attack, my mother can let go of her prejudices and ignore the hype and believe her own eyes, then other ppl can let go of their preconcieved notions about the breed as well. They are loyal, tolerant, and gentle animals. They are no more natural born killers than children are--no animal, like no child, is born a killer. They are shaped by experience and changed by abuse, neglect, and torture to become the vicious stereotypes too often portrayed in the media. Don't let TV tell you what to think. Give pitbulls a chance.
I am a pitbull owner, and I have to say that the people who think pitbulls are bad, are the one's who have never been around one, and do not know what/who they are...I would really like for you to do this, because I love my pitty, and don't want her to be taken from me, because of someone who thinks that she is a bad girl. I have already been threatened by my neighbors, and they don't want anything to do with her...They won't get to know her, and they prefer to stay away from her,"just in case"! So please, please do all of us pitty-lovers and the pitty's a favor, and do a brodcast... I would be honored to have you use my pitty if need be...Just email me. Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Caroline
We have a pit bull and my wife mom and dad have 7 they are all good with people and one thinks its my 4 year old sons best friend and won't let him play unless hes sitting on his lap.. Now does that sound like a danger to anyone
If we ban pitbulls I guess we have to ban golden retrievers too? THAT IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I HAVE EVER HEARD. ANY dog can be trained to attack. I worked in a shelter with tons of pitbulls - even the ones that were previously fought were still the sweetest little things. Just because not all bully breeds like other dogs doesn't mean they don't like people. They are one of the most loyal breeds out there and have been for hundreds of years. Look at the RCA dog! She was a pitbull. Many of them are also used for therapy dogs because of their gentle nature. People who have bad opinions about this breed need to go to a shelter and do some volunteer time and see for themselves.
i also have two pitbulls that werebeing trained to fight by there previouse owners they are rescued puppies one is 7 months the other is 8 months and they now get along great with eachother and other foster ,puupies, kittens and a rabbit and they adore children and adults and brg for attention for everywhere we go
We have two very sweet pit bull puppies whom were both being trained for fighting. Now they only play and love their new family. They love babies, and are very affectionate.
My pittbull is sweet, friendly, and loves to meet new people and dogs. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe I just raised her well! It's a huge misconception. They are truly great, smart, and loyal dogs.If you neglect a dog, It's like neglecting a person. Thats where the problem lies and there are many owners of theese dogs that do not treat them right.I know many people who own one and they are all very good dogs.
these dogs are like people. they love, they feel, they show emotion. true, they are muscular dogs and when they attack can do damage, but they are like any other dog, you give a puppy a good home from day one, it will treat you like any other dog would, but it will be more loyal and loving. i would trust my life to a pit before a human being.
I have friends and family with pits. They are gentle and sweet. It is the ignorant and violent owners that abuse them so they become mean!! Stronger laws for them!!
i agree, i have many friends who have pit bulls AND children around, with no incident. the children will climb all over those dogs, and they seem to know to be extra gentle with them. people need to be correctly educated regarding these very sweet dogs. a bad experience with one will 95% of the time be a result of the pit bull's owner not training them correctly, or even abuse and neglect.
seriously, i hate how pit bulls get such a bad rap. i've known SO MANY that wouldn't hurt a flea and are ALL about their owners. therefore, when their owners raise them to be violent, they follow what is asked of them. if they don't raise them that way, all they want is for their owners to be happy with them. it's not fair to blame the dog for irresponsible, idiotic and violent pet owners.
Pits can be one of the most sweetest n loving dogs ever as long as they are trained right n loved! I dont understand why they are the only ones getting the bad name.
My brother, my good friend have pit bulls and they are adorable what a shame they have such a terrible rap, people can ruin them or any breed of a dog if they are abused
My brother, my good friend have pit bulls and they are adorable what a shame they have such a terrible rap, people can ruin them or any breed of a dog if they are abused
I have a pitbull
that is as sweet
as a baby. Because of there repataion
they have my landlord where i use to live would not let me have him.
my boys where hart
broken that we had to give him away.
but we got lucky my mom & dad let him live with them. my brother fell in love with him they are best friends.
I have been around pitbulls more then 1/2 my life and they are the smarts ,loyalist, and gentlest breed there is. My PITBULL is 12yrs old & I have 2 kids. I have never had a problem with my PITBULL.BOTTEM LINE IT'S ALL IN THE TRAINING!!!!!
wtf is this, the owners make the way that the dogs are, any animal would get aggressive if the owner abused them physically or mentally. dogs are the most compassionate animals and are more intelligent than humans obviously. ban pitbulls? that is the stupidest thing ever, wake up how bout u ban idiots
Punish the deed not the breed...
Negative media attention combined with the ignorance and gullibility of today’s average person is ruining the reputation of the pit bull.
It is fear, misunderstandings and prejudice which lead to the unfair presecution of pit bulls. As an owner and admirer of the breed, I make and support every effort to portray these loyal, powerful, happy, beautiful and obedient dogs as they truly are.
I used to be against pit bulls but I started doing some real research and found out they weren't bad animals. It's the humans that own them who are giving them this reputation. Animals are not born with malice.
My pit is a sweet natured people/dog loving pet. He lives to make me happy. He is not aggressive, has never bit, or ever faught. In fact he is the worst guard dog I have ever seen! I hate when people judge before they give him a chance. He just wants to be your friend and kiss you children.
I have raised my first Pit bull puppy for a year and a half now, his name is smokey and he is not nutered. he is the sweetest dog, smartest dog, and loves to play with kitties (that shows you how harmless he is). he has never bitten anyone. the only thing you would have to be scared of about him is the doggie kisses and slobber all over your face...lol. this breed is a wonderful harmless breed if raised as a member of your family, as all dogs should be. the bad eggs are the ones that are fought for money, beaten by owner, or malnourished ones do have temperamental problems and so would you if you were put through that. the law making of this would be taking away our freedoms as responsible pet owners. the dog fights and abuse is what there needs to be a law against...and inforced i stress inforced becuase where there is laws of that, the cops go to the fights or either know about them...and to those cops i say, may you rot in hell, you are the same as a cop who watches two men kill each other!this must get on fox news to educate the ignorant people who think all pitbulls are going to bite them.
I personally have never owned a pit but I have had experience with them and have NEVER had a bad experience. Now my old neighbors dog (blue heeler) was vicious and tried to chew through our fence trying to get to us!
Labs and Cockerspaniels are more likely to bite a person than a pit bull is. My friend had her face almost ripped off by a lab. I never saw a single story about the incident or about what a horrible breed the Lab is and how we should ban people from owning them. Why? Because, like in the incidents with pits, it's an unfortunate incident and is not a reflection the breed as a whole.
