I have owned 5 pitbulls in all my life and currently have one living now with me and he is the sweetest thing on earth and my gosh he is GREAT with my KIDS!!!!
Punish the DEED not the Breed!!! It is the owners behavior that makes the dogs aggressive, they are like children if you show them respect they give you respect, if you show them love they show u love, if you show them violence they will be violent
Pit bulls are a terribly misunderstood dog breed. The media has turned them into vicious aggressive animals while in reality they have a heart of gold and are willing to please their owners whatever the cost.
The APBT is only as bad as the person who trained him. The problem is not the breed but some of the people who have them for the wrong reasons. In the correct hands, they are wonderful dogs.
I have a 14 year old german sheperd and a 9 month old pit. My pit is such a big baby. All he wants to do is lick me to death. He sleeps with me, watches TV with me, he has to be touching me at all times. He is the most loving dog I have ever had. My other dog is more aggressive then my pit. My pit loves everyone, Kids, elderly anyone that can give him lovin. He's a sweetheart.
I own 3 pitt bulls and all of them are silly and don't bother guests in my house. They bark but that is about it when someone tries to come in or knocks on my door that doesn't belong. they would rather play with a stuffed toy or a ball than do anything else.
Having 3 young grandchildren I would have to say my 2 pitbulls are anything but aggressive. Being a prior lab owner for 20 years I find my pitbulls to be just as gentle and loving.
we have 3 apbt "pit bulls" they are our babys and babys they are. the only danger is getting whiped with the happy tail, getting licked like crazy or them playing like they are a bag of cement when we try and get them to get off our lap or bed. the bark is bigger then the bite with our babys. they have never bitten anyone but they let u know they are here with a bark.
When I was growing up we had pitbull. He was the sweetest thing in the world. He even let my nieces ride on top him like a horse. Now is that aggressive?? That dog believed he was a human and he acted humane too!
I live with probably the nicest, cutest, pitbull on the planet. She's good with kids and never aggressive. I feel bad for all the ignorant people who shy away or cross to the other side of the road when they see us coming.
My friends have two beautiful APBT. The only issue I take with them is that they won't stay off my lap, and they use my face as a salt lick! Of course I really can't blame them if I encourage it :o)
We raise our dogs around our kids. We are one big happy family.
This, in my opinion, is the BIGGEST upcoming problem we are facing. We are going to let someone tell us what dogs we can own? I don't think so!
I have an American Staffordshire Terrier, otherwise known as a PITBULL. I have a 4 y/o and a 2 y/o child. My Pit is a very loving and caring pet. My children play with him all the time. They climb on him, pull his ears, poke at him and he loves it. I have never owned a better dog. I think you need to woory more about the "Ankle Biting Chihuahuas"
The A.P.B T. is the most abused dog there is. Dog fighting is an ugly part of our society that needs to be delt with. Guys like DMX glorifiy dog fighting openly on MTV, Fighting breeders are selling puppies out of every sundays newspaper...these people are not hard to catch but is there anyone or enough investigators going after them? It is now a felony in Texas to fight dog's (thank god) but very few of these guy's are prosecuted. My dog Peanut came from a fighting breeder, we turned him in to no avail, nothing really happened, he said he stopped breeding...right. She is a 1.5 year old female and is a handful (my house is all but destroyed) but a really great dog that loves everyone. These are great dog's let's save them>
I am sick of the negative connotation surrounding pits. How one moment a person could be petting and hugging it, the next moment after finding out its breed, backing away in fear. People need to be educated about the positive sides of owning a pit. STOP THE IGNORANCE!
I say NO to breed-ban legislation! Look at the actual statistics on breed to breed incidences on dog mauling. The A.P.B.T.'s are no way near the stats on your common housedogs and protections dogs.
A dog only knows what it has been taught and exposed too, just like people..... If a child is raised in a corrupt home or neighborhood, and exposed to the wrong things like stealing, fighting, alcoholism, drugs, etc, then more often than not, they will become involved with those things... It's all they know. The same is true for dogs, or any other animal for that matter - not necessarily in the same areas as people, but the same basic principle holds true. We only know what we are taught - anything beyond is based on that.
I've had pitbulls for about 20 years as family pets and also been breeding almost as long and they are what you make of them.. Bad owners are to blame , not the breed!!!!
We've had pit bulls off and on all of our lives. My dogs are raised with my kids and around other dogs. I have NEVER had a problem with a Pit Bull in the several years I have been involved with the breed. I have however had problems with other dogs....chased by....snapped @ etc....any breed can be a wonderful family pet if you raise them right and socialize them properly!
I have a pitbull and she is just like any other dog. Loving, caring, happy. When I come home she licks me to death. When I leave she cries. When I tell her I love her she kisses me. When my family is around she loves all of them. She kisses stranges and wants to play with kids and other dogs. She sleeps with me and snores at night and i we fight for the covers... How is this a bad animal....????
Please, dont let people think these wonderful dogs are horrible. Its just like any dogs. Its how you raise them!!!! I have a 9 month old pit bull named Al. He is the smartest dog I've ever trained. Shes very affectionate. He plays with kittens all the time, and his best friend in the whole world is a two year old little boy! HOw can you say these animals are horrible, when they are clearly not???
I have had a red nose Pit for 5 years she is the best dog me or my family have ever had. I have a 3 year old rough and tough son who can be mean to the dog he layes on her he bites he he pulls her tail and she doesn't do anything but lick him. She has never ever growled once. I would never own any other breed of dog the are the most loyal and loving dogs the people who fight them are idiots. It's not the dogs fault if they turn aggressive it's all on how you raise them. They need lots of love and attention. They really are a great family dog!!!
Humans, abuse the breeds natural "drive". APBT are a performance animal, which excell in obediance, search and rescue, and schutzhund. We need to respecet this fine animal, not abuse it!!!
I would honestly ever give up my pit for any other dog in the world. Fox news is looking at the image, not the dog. Since your a "news" channel why don't you do some research before you have another segment on pits.
Pitbulls have gotten a bad reputation because of the degenerates that use them for fighting! They are just as loving as any other breed. Tell the whole story...
I have owned a pitbull for 2 years. When I first got her everyone was terrified of her, even my mother! Now my mom cant get enough of her, and is buying her toys/clothes/treats all the time. She always asks me when she can come over and play!
OK Fox News, we are now up to 6,277 signatures. When can we expect the segment on the truth about pitbulls? I think that everyone who has signed this petition would like to know so that we can all tune in!!! I don't understand why the Media and the Newspapers only tell one side. Wow. Pitbulls are loyal, loving and amazing dogs. Come on Fox I challenge you to tell the truth.
It seems that often violent owners are attracted to pitbulls, who then in turn create violent dogs.
This isn't the pit bulls fault, they are born as compassionate animals. Owners are the ones who create violent or dangerous dogs, not the breed.
I fell so madly in love with the sweetest pit bull ever, made a golden retriever look vicious. It is the horrible people that make these dogs mean.Ignorant people who give these sweet babies a bad reputation.
Just like with any pet, if they are mistreated then nine times out of ten they will become dangerous, its not the dogs fault how they are its their masters.
I have 2 male pits and they play with each other and every other dog i've ever introduced them to. I take them to the dog park and people are fine with them playing with their dog until the find out they are pits, the media is giving them a bad name and it needs to be stopped.
Pitbulls are loving sweet animals by nature. It is time that we saw something on the news that reflects this truth. Too many stories are done about the dogs that are raised by violent people. I love my pitbull mix.
