Pits arent for everyone. We need responsible owners to have good dogs.My Pit "Bug"loves my kids and our pet rat as well. Pit bulls are just as good as there owners. They act more human than they do a dog. Entertaining to watch. There the clown of the dog world. And i know dogs, my mother has breed dogs for 30 years. You never hear about the poodles, or cocker spaniels that bite. now there a nasty dogs.
Raise them right and they will be the most loyal dog you have ever owned. Not to mention their funny, sensitive personalities!! They are THE best. the media needs to focus on the good and not the bad.!!
It is a shame that the media sensationalizes the negative stories on pitbulls.Pitbulls are one of the most neglected and abused breeds. My boy, King is treated as just that...a king.
Pit bulls are misunderstood because people are not given any positive feedback from the media on the dogs. If people would take some time to actually get to know the breed they would see how great they really are.
The National Canine Temperament Testing Association tested 122 breeds, and Pit Bulls placed the 4th highest with a 95% passing rate! Most stories of dog attacks are not even pitbulls, please do your research. Pitbulls are the sweetest dogs I have ever met
I love my pit bull mix. We brought her to a home that already had 4 large dogs, and she blended into our family like she had always been there. She had never been petted, or brushed, or loved. She knows what love is now, and she loves us as much as we love her. I have never seen a sign of aggression from her, only a desire to please. It's time for the laws to punish the bad owners, not the dogs. They aren't born mean but people can, and do, make them mean. It's wrong to punish an entire breed of dog because there are bad people. It's time to enact laws that will protect the dogs, as well as good people and good owners.
Pit Bulls are like children. When raised improperly in horrible environments the end result is sad. Until the law puts more teeth into its punishments both pit bulls and children will forever go improperly protected.
I love my pit bull. They are great dogs. Any dog can be a wonderful dog, the owner is the one who has to be great. My pit just wants to be up in the mix with the family just like a human. She loves to be loved, like any other pet or person. I wish people would educate themselves more about the newer ways of training dogs that emphasize positive reinforcement. Its great to see dog owners who are patient and willing to work with their dogs.
I was a proud owner of an apbt which had to be put to skeep due to old age. She was 1 of the last legal ones in UK.There is no such thing as a bad dog its how they were brought up. Mine never went for anybody or bit anybody and she was brought up with 4 kids. Till they day she was put to sleep at 14 years old...
I am proud owner of 5 great apbt and i am 70 years old and i have 32 grandchildren and they all play with them and ride them and none has ever been hurt my pits are the best dogs i could ever own.!!!!!!
Pitbulls are amazing animals. People like to be so close minded about them and they need to be showed the truth about what a great dog a pitbull can be if raised properly by caring people.
I have a mix puppy, she is half pit and half siberian husky. And, you want to know something, it is the husky you have to worry about. The mother is a full blood pitbull and she is the sweetest dog on earth, she would never hurt anyone or anything, ever. My dog is very sweet, the vet told the owner of the father(siberian husky) not to have any more puppies, because of, the husky is too wild and unpredictable. I know for a fact, and have seen the way people treat pitbulls and it is wrong, I always thought pitbull's were raised to fight. But why, they are so smart, and so beautiful. They deserve a wonderfull life. You see the reason these people feel this way is because they only see what the news shows them, the drug dealer's dogs, what about the others, your gonna ban them because the owner, just want to make money off their dog. I've been around alot of pits, and it is the way you train them. There was this one dog, Tasha she was gorgous but she had been bounced to so many homes, and she had been taught to kill. I'm sorry but dogs don't teach themselves to kill! I loved her, but she was raised the fight, and I've seen other pits, that love people and want to be loved. My friend had a pit named King, and he loved me, he always licked my face always stood right by myside when he was around. Stop being so mean to these beautiful dogs, and start loveing them, they are no different then any other dog. You can make any dog a killer or a lover, it is on the human being not the dog!
The breed is the first registered breed in AMERICA, and has our country in its name, how the #$@@ can you ban a noble and sturdy breed like this?I guess a country whose national bird is on the endangered species list can really speak for itself. I am disgusted at how you stereotype this breed of dog,who has become a national hero in times past. Its because of irresponsible breeders and owners that makes the media blow stuff out of porportion, and if thats what this country is about, im leaving...with my AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER!
I work in a vets office and truthfully I've been bit by more chihuahuas and rat terriers than any breed.Society believes that pits are aggressive b/c thats the way the media portrays them as. I have owned many dogs in my life and currently own 4 pitbulls that are house dogs and the most loyal friend that an owner could ever have. The media feeds off of these ignorant owners that buy a dog and chain it up in the yard throw it a couple of bones and believe that makes them a responsible pet owner. Bottom line is that any dog if placed with the WRONG OWNER can become aggressive.
I've known many pitbulls who are not the least bit aggressive. It is the ignorant owners that train them to be aggressive that should be held accountable.
I THINK THE OWNERS NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. ANY ANIMAL CAN BE MADE TO BE AGGRESSIVE. IT IS ALL IN HOW THEY ARE RAISED. WHY ARE PEOPLE LEAVING THEIR CHILD UNATTENDED WITH A DOG THEY ARE WORRIED ABOUT MIGHT BE AGGRESSIVE OR THAT ARE NOT EVEN THEIR OWN PETS.ARE OUR RESPONSIBILITY THAT IS WHY WE ARE THEIR OWNERS.
Pitbulls are the best dogs that ever walked this earth. Sadly, some politicians who DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT DOGS try to ban this awesome breed. Statistically, which dog breed gave the highest percentage in dog bite incident? I'm sure its not the pitbull, but have you ever looked at the stats of retrievers, mastiffs and sheperds?
Pitbulls aren't bad, its their human companions that makes them look and act bad. Those who say pitbulls are ferocious dogs are those who did not have the chance to own one, thus missing more than half of life's happy moments. I have three pitbulls at home and they all act as if they were lap dogs, more affectionate than my black labrador
No dog is born mean. The dog becomes what it's owner turns it into. If any kind of dog is raised to be mean then it will be mean. If it is raised with love and affection, then that is how it will behave. I own a Boxer and when people see him they tend to cross to the other side of the street. He is the biggest baby. All he would ever do is kiss someone to death. He loves people.
In the 1950's the pit bull was the number one family dog in the US. In the right home a pitbull is a wonderful family friend. My pit bull would throw himself in front of a car before he would attack anyone. He was actually attacked by another dog (lab-shepherd mix) and he tried to make friends with it later.
PLEASEfind the truth and let the viewers make their own decision on the Pit Bull. FOX NEWS is about reporting facts, not distorting them. We ask for your support.
i breed pits and have owned them for years..they sleep on my kids' bed ,they live in my home like they are my kids,id never get rid of them ..the people that breed vicious animals should be shot not the dog..i have a ferrett and she and my pits have grown up together and play all the time..they have been abused by ther press..big surprise there..chas.
My Cora is the sweethest dog I've ever met. Everyone who meets her can't believe how friendly
and loving she is.
When she gets scared, she hides behind our Bichon Frise. He's 11 years old and blinded by cataracts due to diabetes, but she still looks to him for protection.
Our neighbors have a black Lab that has bitten twice that I know of, both times unprovoked. Cora was bitten three times in her life. Each time it was by a Lab and each time it was unprovoked.
Does that mean we should ban Labs as well?
Banning breeds is pointless as the evil element that uses the APBT as fighting dogs or "guard" dogs don't really care about the law anyway. If one breed is banned and unavailable, those who want fighting dogs will just choose another breed. They'll inbreed and abuse and mishandle their new hosen "bullies" until that breed also earns a rep for being dangerous. Remember the big deal about Dobies and Rotties about 10-15 years ago?
Punish the cruel and irresponsible owners, not the dogs.
PUNISH THE DEED..
NOT THE BREED!
I have an American Staffordshire Terrier and he could be mistaken for a PitBull. These dogs crave love like any other dog, it's all in how they are raised. If we pass any laws, lets pass one that prevents these loving dogs from getting into the wrong hands. There should be stiffer penalties for people abusing these dogs and involving them in dogfighting. THAT'S what should be done, NOT outlawing the breed itself. Let's get it together folks!!
I was once afraid of pitbulls because of the bad publicity. Then I volunteered at an animal shelter where unfortunately it is the predominant breed. I quickly melted and fell in love with this breed. I now have one who has been with me for 5 years and she is the best dog I ever had. My dog can be dog agressive but loves people as most pits do.As a responsible owner I am aware of this breed characteristic and am very careful about introducing her to others. Most she does play well with and overall she is just a great dog with great manners!
