we are a proud kennel all our dog's are well socialized and make great family dog's we need to get the word out stand up for the breed we love so much,
I am the proud owner of am APBT and I would never think of having any other breed of dog in my home. The fact that so many misrepresentations about pitbulls in general is the reason they are banned in so many places....the news had a lot to do with this and I feel it is only right that they fix it. Do the documentary.
I have own this best breed for 18 yrs i never had one problem with them biting any body all i see is this breed is love and hard work i go to show all year long and have never seen one attack on somthing. the owner should be band from owning any kind of breed take this to hart this our breed pitbull for life
I have had several pitbulls. They are a wonderful breed of dog. Great with kids and a wonderful family pet. I am currently being harrassed by our local police department claiming my dog is running the streets. She is from Texas we live in Minnesota we can barely get her to go out to pee! She has never left our yard and has not been out for days due to the fact she is in heat.
My dog smiles and is as gentle as she ccan be. Good for you trying to protect this wondeful breed of dog. I will do all I can here if you folks need help!
Sincerely
Dawn Nelson
The media is getting a stupid rating on these dogs lives! pitbulls are the most versitile dog in the planet, these dogs will jump a cliff for you because they want to please you. They'll behave for you , they'll do just about anything to make their master happy. Most of all the love their master FOX and other media can still get a story talking about the good in pitbulls! They could use topics such as Pitbulls saves ...,Pitbull wins agility something.., Pitbull weight pull show involves youth....SOMETHING like this would be a story instead of negative bs! Also and most important, Teach people through fliers, commercials, etc, on the great side of owning these rare -good hearted speciments! Come on ,help save these dogs! Bless You!
Very few dogs have "mental problems" its the owners who do and its the type of idiots that purchase these dogs thinking they want what the media hype the dog to be. Its about time the truth be told about the loveable breed they are meant to be!
I am 50yrs young and have been involed in breeding training dogs from the time I could walk.In those many years I have reared and trained various breeds[setters to basenji]of all of them the most intelligent, loyal and easy to train is the APBT.For the last quarter of a century I have only reared the APBT and will never own any other breed for rest of my life.I just hope that when I do exit and am called before the great almighty I hope that sitting beside him are all my "little buddies".My wife---Yes,My Harley---Maybe,But My Pit Bull--- NEVER.....
My response is mainly directed to Gina G. First of all I feel for you and your son to go through such a thing, but I am glad that you & your son recovered and in the end of it realized that the dog didn't bite simply because of its breed. My son also was bitten by a pitbull "Our" pitbull but not because he is viciuos as some believe. He was trying to pull back on a toy that he and my son were playing with. A complete accident and he barely nipped my son in between his pinky and ring finger but by the end of it.My son had 3 stiches and the Sheriff went out there and"choked"our poor dog into the truck and took him away for ten days. By the time we got him back he was sick,10 lbs lighter, w/ flees and balding patches on his coat.We all cried more when they took our dog away than getting the stiches. He was my sons best friend and our faithful companion and protector. It broke our hearts to see our 'PR'Grand Champ being treated like a mutt. Our hamster was meaner than our dogs...REALLY!
A dog will act how they are treated and trained. Pitbulls are stereo typed, when ANY dog CAN act out. dogs will be dogs, but not necessarily pitbulls themselves. Its all how the public views but that has nothing to do with how they really are.
I own a 100 lb. mastiff/staffie cross he is the most gentlest dog on the world, incredible with children of all ages. People need to be educated about this breed, I have worked for a pet supply store for years & have met some very nasty dogs & not one was a pitbull. I would like to thank everyone who has signed this petition. Its people like you who care enough to save this breed. My dog Max also thanks you.
I find that pit bulls are what you make them. They are not naturally aggressive dogs. I think that they are wonderful intelligent dogs and they do not deserve the bad rap that they get.
I think something should be done to show people that pit bulls are not bad dogs i have 2 kids my oldest is 4 and the only dogs that we have ever owned are pit bulls they are the most loyal dogs no matter what they are nice and protective if responsible people own them its the owner not the dog i've been attacked by little dogs and mutts and never had a pitbull ever try to bite me.
Any breed of dog can be made to be mean. The media doesn't find a story newsworthy if a golden retriever or poodle bites someone, but it's all over the news if a pit bull bites. Responsible pit bull owners know that this is the most loving and loyal breed. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I can't believe your pit bull is so nice and friendly." Pit bulls will react if their owners are threatened, but that's only because they love them so much.
I have a pitbull since she was a pup and i haven't any promble at all she plays with cats and dog and even my 1 year daughter pitbull are not the ones people are the bad ones
Look at the type of people that own pitbulls that are "bad". Once you meet a pitbull that has been treated the way an animal should be, you will see for yourself how amazing the pitbull breeds really are! I know my pitbull has changed the minds of several non-pitbull lovers. Now, Johnny plays with their dogs too!
a dog is only as bad as the person who owns it is. small dog under thirty five pound make up ove 85% of dog bite, so if they should ban anything make it lap dogs.
i own two pitbulls one has been with us since she came off her mother and she is like a part of the family the other is a 10 year old that needed a home and they and all of us ie my mother in law ,wife, two daughters and myself all get along just fine ,even the family indoor cat and the pits get along..and i must agree if you ban pits you should ban all dogs that might bite..these are the first pits i have ever owned and i havent seen a better breed of dog as of yet, the dogs are not killers or fighters it is the people who train them to be as such
I have owned several dogs in my life, the pit bulls that I have and do own are by far the best companions for my children, wife, and myself. People make the dogs, not the dogs.
if your trying to banned then to got to ban all dogs that may bit. poodles all the way down to mutts. i own 2 pitbulls both which play with may two year old dauthger. a pitbull or any pther dog is like a loaded gun. in the wrong hands they can be dangerous.
I have a pitbull mix and he is the sweetest dog I've ever owned the only dog I trust my 16month old around. People need to realize that these dogs are great with kids and people and can be with dogs if they aren't trained to be aggressive.
I've worked at vet clinics and animal shelters for years, and I have never once been bit by a pitbull. They are the best dogs and remain one of my favorites. I even grew up with one for 16 years as a child. She hepled raise me. They should be exposed for the truly gorgeous and smart animals they are.
Pitbulls are the nicest dogs anyone could own. It is sad to see people raising animals to be fighters. My boyfriend's friend owns a pitbull and at first i was really scared, but once you got to know this dog you learned that this dog would do no harm to anyone.
I am 38 years old and have been handeling Pit Bulls since I was 10 my hole familey has owend them.I have raised 3 childern around these dogs the oldest pit biull that I have is 15 years old and the best dog I ever had.Her name is Rena. my daughter at the time was 3 years and had stuck her finger so far up the dogs nose that it started bleeding. When I went to stop my daughter Rena the pit bull growled at me. She was verey protective of the youngest in the familey. The dog would never bite any one. What this tells me is for a child to cause excessive bleeding to a dog and that dog dose nothing about it but love that that child and try to stop me from corecting the child. That is loyalty. Do not band the breed. Band the deed that the owner has caused not the dog Hogan
PitBulls and all other dogs are whatever they are trained to be. I would rather license people to be allowed to have pets (to treat and train the animals correctly) then ban a breed based on some poorly handled animals.
My stepmom has a pitbull and so does one of my ex-friends. The only time I have ever seen a pitbull get fiersome is when it's provoked, like any animal. It's not right to say that because we train these dogs to be violent that the entire species of dog is violent when most aren't. I have seen the difference. Animals we bring into our homes are like children and need to be treated the same. Otherwise they will turn out violent just like people. I don't like dogs myself, I'm a cat person but I would never intentionally hurt these creatures who are sweet and loyal because of selfishness or greed and neither should anyone else.
I thnk most of what i read about a pit is true, but the one thing that you dont read about is what started the fight or provoked the dog into what it did,see peolple who dont like the dogs are the only ones that try to ban them, lets ban the people not the dogs..i got 13 by myself,i got a litlle boy thats 3 and he can go around any of my dogs having no worrys..Mybrother has 26 pits and 2 lil boys and not one of his dogs are harmful to people...and th spca is a crock of shit when when it comes to pitbulls..
I have never owned a Pittie but my best friend has and it is the most adorable, selfess, loving dog ever! I hope that this petition helps to make people see how great Pit Bulls really are.
I truly believe in everyones comments that the problem is the owner not the dog. my dogs r wonderful animals loving and down to earth. I am also tired of the seeing this breed drug through the mud on t.v. would really love to get some positive exposure out there.
the problem with these dogs arent the dogs it is the owners who abuse them and make them crazy a dog who is treated well does not turn on people for the heck of it
I have five amstaffs. We have never had a problem in our home or outside. They are the friendliest natured dogs I have ever come across. What a shame that anyone would think of banning a dog because of irresponsible owners and backyard breeders. It is time we start banning bad owners and not the dogs.
It's nice to see a view being presented other than the typical "vicious time-bomb" that is generally presented. If more people did their homework about the breed, they would realize what great family dogs they are.
In 40 years of owing over 100 dogs and cats, only one has been a pitbull. I managed to rescue her before her ears and tail were clipped. She turned out to be the best foster mother to the many abandoned puppies and kittens that passed through our door I ever had the privilege to call mine. The neighbors loved her - perhaps they thought she was a small Boxer, I never told anyone she was a pitbull. I truly believe that it is the OWNER who is responsible for the behavior of the dog and if the dog does something that creates a disturbance or worse, then it should be the OWNER who is held responsible and settlement made accordingly. Should the situation be such that the animal must be destroyed then the OWNER should be not only fined substantially, but also disallowed to ever own this type of breed again.
I dont have a pitbull or care much about the "breed". But I think it is disgusting that you could "ban" a dog, it is true that some animals have more aggression or different instincts. But no animal will act a certain way unless that behavior is encouraged. All I know is that if you raise a dog to be hostile and let a child pull on its tail, there will be a bad result. Dont blame the dog, its the owners fault.
Pits definitely have a rather tarnished reputation, but I know a couple that simply do not fit in that category. Give them a chance - let's see the bright side.
Pitbulls are awesome dogs; Just like any other dog you have to raise them the right way with love and treat em like the gods they are. There like little kids, how they turn out is depends on how you treat them. So don't ban them.
Punish the deed not the breed. My two pits have never caused a problem and i had a by law officer show up at my door and fine me $1500 just because of what they are.
As with most everything, look to the owners/parents and how they care for, supervise, train, monitor, reward and give consequences. Any animal, any child, any person, can be made to be aggressive and mean - and visa versus.
