I am faced with ignorant people on a daily basis who just love the stereotype about pitbulls, so if signing this will help shut these "sheep" up i am all for it. I adopted my APBT from Amanda Conrad and she is the sweetest animal i have ever come in contact with. If people would only give them a chance!
It is owners who are responsible for the attitudes and actions of their companion animals. The sooner people are held responsible -- and the better people are educated about humane, responsible dog care -- the better for everyone.
I have lived with this wonderful breed since 1989. Unsocialized people are oftentimes dangerous or aggressive; unsocialized dogs are oftentimes dangerous and aggressive. Aggression comes from fear of the unknown and rightfully so!! Both dogs and children depend on their parents and/or guardians for training and learning healthy social skills. All problem dogs are MAN MADE.
Instead of putting the pits to sleep, they need to put the owners to sleep! My pits are the most loveable and affectionate animals I have owned. They have never shown any agression. Blame the DEED NOT the breed!
I have owned 2 pit bulls for the past year and I've had one of them since she was 6 weeks old (little over 2 years now). It is NOT the breed that is the problem, it is the owners. One of my pitties I adopted from Amanda Conrad's Pit Bull Rescue and he's a big LOVERboy! I couldn't ask for more loveable animals! They show nothing but love and affection to me, my fiance, his kids and all of our family and friends. Blame the DEED NOT the breed!
The pitbull is not anymore or any less than any other breed of dog. It is the owners who mistreat these dogs that make them vicious and unpredictable. If these dogs are raised in a love home environment, they will return the love they receive 100 fold.
I have a wonderful Pit Bull by the name of Sally. No matter how bad a day I may be having she is always there greeting me with a big bully grin and a wagging tail. I cannot imagine not having her in my life. Blame the deed, not the breed.
my daughter found a young pit that was being starved and used for bait for other pits. This is the best dog. It's what vermin that owns them not the dog.
I have a American Pit Bull Terrier and it would be great to get the truth out about this great breed. It would be nice to show all the good abilities of this breed
I have 3 wonderful Pitbulls (2 of which are rescues). All of them are considered members of our family and have never shown the least little bit of agression toward anybody or anything. I will always have a Pitbull as a member of my family. If the law should change in my area about banning Pitbulls, we would sell our home and move elsewhere with our babies. They are given such a bum rap. Its all in being a responsible pet owner. FOX, Please help the public to understand "The real truth about Pitbulls"
My daughter got a PITBULL 2YEARS AGO as a puppy 5 months old. I fell in love with Liam so much that I it made me want a dog also. I got a sheppard mix. They play together and are great friends and my dog is more agressive that the PITTBULL. He will steal your hart away, people say his demenor is so great that they don't think he is a PITTBULL because they hear so much negitive feedback on PITTBULLS. We took him to obedieance training and have always been responsible with him as any dog owner should be reguardless of breed. My next dog will be a PITTBULL!
Once you have a wonderful American Pit Bull Terrier as a pet and companion, you will always be the guardian of this breed. They are wonderful pets, companions, and family members! Learn the truth, not the misportrayals.
My pitbull is my loving faithful companion and I don't know what I would do if anyone or any law tried to take him away from me. I have never met a dog with a better disposition. Adopting him was the best decision I have ever made! I only wish people would give this breed a chance. Ignorant and neglegent owners should be punished not the entire breed itself. Education is the key to safety.
never will i own another breed. i will spend my life trying to find homes for this mistreated breed. everyone should have a pitbull and they will know what it means to be loved
I hope if FOX does a story it will focus on the truth about Pit Bulls and not just have a small mention of the reality and facts about this breed while using more time on sensationalized stories based on emotion just to get ratings.
The media has a responsibility to expose the truth, not just report what they think people want to hear....show some compassion for these abused and neglected dogs and tell their story. My pit bull was and is the best dog I ever owned, he was loved by everyone who met him and sadly there are thousands out there just like him, being discrimated against because of cruel and ignorant people. Do the right thing!
The more people realize the how smart and kind these pups are, they will better understand and may be open for new opinions on them. Please educate the public on this! It's so needed!
I've been afraid of dogs my whole life, over 40yrs. My daughter talked us into a pitty mix for her 16th bday and well you know how it goes w/ teenagers and pet resposibilities. He has a private trainer and is sooo sweet, we love him very much. If anything he loves peoples/other dogs too much...Keep rescuing these dogs, they're beautiful animals. y*
Education is essential. I've known pit bulls my entire life. I have spent the last six years rescuing abused and neglected pit bulls. Now more then ever, society is seeing and experiencing first hand the sweet, loving nature of this wonderful breed. None of us will ever give up on these pitties. They are the victims due to irresponsible people. Feel free to contact us when you are ready to do a story on the truth of this breed. We'll be happy to assist you.

ive got 3 and they are very well trained and behaved. they have never attacked anyone except a burgler who got one hell of a suprise opening the front door while i was gone.
I can't imgaine that fox news would every want to shed a positive light on this breed. The truth on this great breed would bring critics against the fox network. Not only Fox but all news networks are about rating generated by bad news and or media lies. Remeber Good news is No News with News Crews.
I was also one of the people who did not want anything to do with the breed. That is until my boyfriend got me a puppy one year. I love that dog like I gave birth to him myself. One could also say what human qualities that he has about him. He is a character and has been a joy to own. I hope you choose to do this story. I feel they really do need to be vindicated. Last year my cousin was the little girl on Fox News that had her thumb finger bitten off by a pitbull, the dog was euthanized and the finger extracted to try to reattach. Unfourtunatley, they were not successful. I blame the dogs owner, he aroused the dog by making my cousin scream as if he was in danger. The dog only reacted how it was supposed to. Take the problem out of the equation and you get? A loving, gentle, kind, protective member of the family. Please consider this story.
Skeptical also at first. I Did research for 6 months prior to owning my pit. Found out local laws, and asked around to fellow owners. Very happy with the choice I made. APBT the best breed in the world.
Am Staffs,Pits,Bullies what ever you call them are one of the best dogs a family or individual can have. They have a big heart and only want to make you happy.
I was a sceptical at first only knowing the stereotypes the media promotes. I have had the joy of opening my home to "Duke" and he is the best dog in the world.
My girlfriend's half APBT, half Spitz spurred me to do research. My next dog will be a pit-bull. BTW my girl's dog is the most loved dog I know. Everyone wishes he was theirs.
I adopted a 5yr old pitbull from a rescue this year. He is the best dog i have ever owned. i will always get a pitbull before thinking of another breed. my mother believed in the stereotypes and didnt want me to get one. She is now a lover of the breed!!!!!! Punish the Owner no the Breed!!!!!!!!!!
I own an APBT and she is the sweetiest dog ever and i saw an article about how they want to ban pits in the state of New Jersey. I will tell you this the will not take my dog.It makes me sick to sit here and have everyone tell me that pits are bad dogs. So please don't judge something you don't have all the facts too.
I had always heard the stereotypes regarding pitbulls, but after meeting a number of pitbulls, never saw how they could possibly apply. One year ago, my mother adopted a red pit-bull terrier from a dog rescue in arizona (www.valleyofthesundogres cue.com)...the most intelligent, friendly, people-loving dog I've ever come across. Ever since, it just drives me crazy to see the bad press these animals are given. It's nice to see people stepping up to the plate and defending them, since the animals can't defend themselves. It's funny, after seeing my mother's dog, most people will say "Wow, she really doesn't act like a pitbull..." and I think to myself "really? what do pitbulls usually act like? do you really know? Where do you get your information? I wish the best to you in getting this petition through, it'd be a great step in the right direction to correct the bad reputation they've been given.
Owner of a 3year old American Terrior . I agree highly with punishing the owner, not the dog. Any type of dog can be aggressive, it's all in how you raise the dog.
If animal cruelty laws were more than fines and a slap on the wrist, perhaps they would be taken more seriously by those doing the abuse. What is the "real" penalty for dogfighting? Do they even catch the people? Apparently, if you can pay a fine, it's ok to starve, beat, shoot, stab,or abandon a pet....What happens if an animal is killed? Another fine? Pitbulls are trained to be vicious, used as blood sport, and then if rescued, are put to sleep as not adoptable! Amazing! And what of those who've made these dogs a danger? We must tread lightly as we don't want to "accuse" anyone! Give me a break; if dogfighting laws had greater penalties or animal abuse mandated prison time, then you'd see a difference.....if there are no consequences, why stop the neglect? Someone needs to be the voice of those who cannot defend themselves. And people, in general, need to be educated.
Yes, I am proudly owned by a darling pitbull who was used as a "bait dog" for the 1st year of his life. Now, he lives with another dog and 2 cats and he gets along with them famously....The only holdover from his abuse is that he still bolts whenever I reach for the broom!
I am the proud owner of a well bred pitbull. It is not the breed, but those who breed the ones that are not true to the breed. Any dog can be vicious, it is up to the people who raise them as to how they turn out. Pitbulls are not people aggressive unless made that way. Any dog that is a bully breed, mastiff type, etc is mistaken for a pit or pit mix. If you ban a breed, there will be another to take its place. Why not punish those who turn the dogs bad, not the dog who only does what it is taught?
I support this petition 100%. My best friend breeds pits and I am the PROUD mommy of one myself. He dogs are all full grown and well behaved and greet me with kisses and snuggles every time I visit. Unfortunately, it is hard for my playful pup to make new doggie friends in the city I live in because every time someone asks what kind of dog he is, they take their dogs and go home, sometimes even after they have been petting and playing with my dog for 20 minutes or more. It's a sin that my poor puppy has to face the possibilty of discrimination simply for being born. He is the cuddliest little butt wiggler who greets me at the door after work and steals my covers at bed time. He just wants to be part of the family. I would do aything for my pup and will NEVER own another breed of dog. LOVE YOU ROMEY!
We have a 2 year old and an American Pitbull who is great with him..a wonderful family dog. It is the irresponsible owners who mistreat these dogs to give them a bad reputation not the dog itself.
My pit Kaiser is a sweet dog he would never hurt anyone, we are even allowed next door to visit the farm with him because he is good with the other animals
pit bulls, like piranhas, are given a bad rap. It's up to responsible owners to keep and take care of pets. Like raising humans, some people don't know how to.
