Dear Readers, I myself have a Pitbull, and before him i had a rotty. Which both of these dogs are labeled, "vichous", and "extrely dangerous" and we must stay away from them. Now both of these dogs that ive had have been the best lisning and most kind and gentle dogs ever. People who have came around them too, they say " wow what a well behaved and gentle, and beautiful loving dog, might i ask what breed he is" and i say Pitbull or Rotty, and then they dont want anything to do with them. They just go by what they hear through the media, but if you look into thoes stories even further, there is always more to the story. Owners treat these dogs, so they do kill, and are vicious, because they know what they are capable of. i think these people who cant handle a dog with this much energy and stength shouldnt have one. And people who think this kind of dog is bad and what not, shouldnt judge by what they hear, own one first, treat it well, then judge. You people will be quite surprised.

I think that people don't really know anything about a situation unless they have been in that situation themselves. I think that putting the "pitbull" in a category that is a bad one is not fair. That is just like saying that afican americans are all bad, when they are not. People are just being racist toward a breed when they don't even have a clue. They probably have never even been around a pitbull. people are just afraid & ignorant. Yes, there have been attacks by pitbulls but there have been attacks by other breeds as well and it's not the dogs fault, it's the owner's fault. owners are the ones that need to be responsible. We all know this breed has a bad reputation, but it's not true about the whole breed. Pitbulls have the capability to kill or harm someone with the strength these dogs have and the teeth they have, but they aren't born wanting to kill. If someone wants to own this breed they just need to be aware and have the dog trained, have thier dog in control, socialize the dog with everything possible....old people, kids, other animals that your dog can and will run into so it is nothing new to the dog and the dog can be comfortable with almosta nything. i have had many pitbulls in my past and many other breeds. i have a 2 year old pitbull now. these dogs have been the best. They are the most loyal, loving obediant animals i have ever had. My pitbull, Zowie, she is the greatest. She is so sweet, she is like a big baby. I have had her since she was 5 weeks old and i take her everywhere possible and have her around other animals and she is great. Everybody loves my Zowie and they are amazed at how well she listens and how she acts with others. I had Zowie trained and I am so glad I did. She was a good dog before, but when she came back..she was pottie trained! : ) haha I have people asking me where I had Zowie trained because they are so impressed with how she behaves. "your dog is so well, beh

I bought my first pit sanchez from a friend who breeds, they have five in total and all are constantly with the couples five and three year old playing in the yard and house. My pit is 8mths old and was house trained in 2 weeks care trained by the 2nd day i got him at 5 weeks old. They are just like children they learn what we teach them. They love affection, love to play with kids and I wouldn't trade him for anything he is my baby, my FAMILY. Don't punish a whole breed for the ignorance of others that's just as bad as slavery and genocide of the human race!!!!!!!!

People are vicious. No other animal in this world is as vicious as people. Yet, inocent animals are put to sleep because of what people who are worthless do to animals. Some of these people are greedy, abusive. They torture and kill anything that they want to. We still allow them to live. Everyone needs to be educated about the truth about pitbulls. Vicious, evil people who abuse them to make the pit bulls aggressive needs to punished. People are afraid of these dogs because they are ignorant about this subject. Banning a breed of dogs will not solve this problem because the bigger problem is still out there living a good live. The bigger problem is the people who don't have a heart. This people are nothing more then lucifer himself in a human body.

This is taken from someone who write much more eloquently than I. "77% (approximately) of all dogs pass the temperment test, while a whopping 95% of pitbulls pass. As a breed the pitbull does better on the temperment test than retrievers, labs, dalmations, and almost any other "family friendly" breed there is. Please inform your mother that the german shepherd is bred to ATTACK PEOPLE while the pitbull is bred to attack DOGS. Oh, and expain that the reason that pits rarely bite people is BECAUSE OF not in spite of their selective breeding for fighting purposes. Tell her how a human-aggressive pit couldn't be safely fought and would be put down, so almost every trace of "human aggressive genes" was wiped out from this breed at one point. Oh, and look up that printout on the internet that has a picture of about 15 different breeds of purebred dogs and asks you to identify the pitbull. No one ever gets it right on the first try. Breed mis-identification is one of the 3 biggest problems facing our breed. And in spite of the fact that every flea-bag with a patch on its eye, or some scars, or a big head is labled a pit bull when it bites someone there still aren't numbers to back up the mindless sensationalistic propaganda spewed by our wonderful liberal media."

When once asked why would you ever adopt a pitbull I replied that she is the smartest and most affectionate dog I ever owned. Now she has our twin boys that she looks after and has been very well behaved around them.

The "banning" of this breed is senseless. It's not the breed, but the "breeder or "individual" that is the problem. Put a program in place that punishes the sense owners and breeders, no the dog. We own an "American" Pit Bull Terrier and Mr. Pete is by far the greatest judge of charater and loving family pet one could ever wish for. Words like loyal, trustworthy, courageous, attentitive, loving and unconditional can only scratch the surface of describing this breeds personality traits. It's just like today's society to kill or terminate anything we do not understand or want to understand. Get to know the breed and stop stereo typing. Fear society's senseless acts of destruction, not the breed.

In fact, if someone were to be bitten, it would be by our chihuahuas before our pitbull. It's not the dog that is mean, it is how they are trained. "Bad dogs arent's born, they're made!"

If u own a gun and u shoot someone... who is t balme the gun or the person triggering the weapon? The person of course. The same goes for pitbulls. Bad ownership is the cause for agressive behavior among this breed. Because of the dogs' keen nature of obediance and loyality it is so often used as a disadvantage. The dog is biologically programmed to respond to any command by its owner whether it be good or bad, the dog has no revalent understanding of the nature of the command just that it must act upon what the owner inflicts upon the dog. We must ban the cruilty and abuse of this breed. Not the breed itself. This battle has been going on much too long its time we end it. I encourage anyone who feels the way I do to contact your local legislators and ask for their support. To make a difference in your community for the dogs sake. Ban the discrimination. Ban the abuse and end the battle once and for all.

Banning any specific breed is only going to have those who wish to cause mischief and mayhem to search for a 'better' target. The problem with this type of legislation is it targets those owners who attempt to lead a good life with a wonderful family pet. This is unfair that innocent individuals and dogs are punished because a few criminal-type persons cause mischief for all. Create better animal cruelty laws and better dangerous dog laws. On top of that, educate the workers of shelters and animal control to *correctly* identify different breeds - when it comes down to a mix it can be downright impossible, though!

Banning any breed is not going to solve the problem. It only punishes the innocent dogs and the responsible owners. The real problem is the criminals. Go to the root of the problem - the horrible people who are training dogs to be people aggressive, using dogs as bait, training them to fight; promoting, attending and gambling on fights. Crack down on the real problem - enforce animal cruelty laws and you won't have to worry about banning any breed of dog.

Breed Specific Legislation of any kind is just a bandaid on yet another situation created by "humans". It has been proven ineffective and punishes countless innnocent dogs and owners while the real problem of irresponsible ownership, abuse and neglect, and backyard breeding continue. Dog attacks/bites will continue as well - overall "pit bulls" are responsible for a small percentage and all I have known have been lovebugs.....

Most people don't know this but pitbulls are the least dangerous breed on earth. We are the ones who trained them to kill at first. How could you punish a sweet, lovable dog for doing what it was trained to do? So judge the deed. Not the breed. Lots of people love pitbulls. Lots of people don't. Most dog bites occur to children under 13, the majority are boys. APBT's are in the bottom 1% of all dog bite statistics. Dogs cannot make moral decisions, they only want to make their 'person' happy. PEOPLE are to blame for most dog bites...well, and bad breeding. Spay and neuter your pets no matter what breed unless you are a licensed and inspected educated breeder who health tests (CERF, OFA, etc.) and have learned about the genetics of your breed...other than that - Parents need to have more supervision and teach children about safety around dogs. The AKC has videos, which teach children (and adults) about this. The videos show the work the AKC, and responsible dog owners do to educate people on dog safety. They are FREE!
