My parents had a pitbull and a toy poodle around when I was a baby and I was bitten by the TOY POODLE! The Pitbull was the dog that never hurt me I pulled his ears and his tail but he sat there and still loved me. PUNISH THE DEAD NOT THE BREED!
I have owned miniature pinschers for 20 years and Ihave interacted with different breeds as I do dog shows and training. My minpins have openly played with pitbulls in several ocasions and they get along great!! They are very sweet and loving, if given them the proper training and chance. I am more than willing to provide any information possible to help this noble cause!!
I work at a foster home for dogs and have seen 4 different pitbulls there in the last two months. They are all sweet and love people. They all love to sit on your lap and play with you. None of the pitbulls that I've ever met have ever bitten anyone. In my opinion pitbulls are one of the most gentle, loving, playful and loyal breeds that you could find. They're really big, cuddly couch potatoes. They are and will always be my favorite breed of dog. It's not the breed, it's the people. It's about time there was something to help defend the pitbulls.
I am a dog groomer with about 3000 clients and have never been bit by a pit, never seen one that was bad. On the other hand I have seen many that have been Beaten, neglected and abandoned.Look people there are 2 reasons the pitbulls have a bad reputation..(1)DOG FIGHTERS (2)MEDIA. In my personal opinon these are the ones that should be banned.
Any dog can attack a human being...it's not the dog, it's how the dog is raised. The laws should be tougher on people who fight these precious animals!
I am a d.c. resident and i take my dog to dog parks and we have a ball with other dogs and owners, without insident EVER !!! Stop making laws against the breed make tougher laws againts bad owners. Know the history of the animal before passing judgement, these dogs are not pets they are family members.
You are 25 times more likely to be struck by lighting than to be a victim of a fatal dog mauling by any breed. Dogs will never compete with other humans for being the most dangerous. Aggressive pit bulls are the victims of humans.
I recieved a pitbull for a early christmas present from my boyfriend and i was surprised to see that a pitgbull was the kind of dog he chose for me. I had only heard about pitbulls being mean and vicous but that was before i spent time with Dallas...Dallas is my 3 month old baby pitbull and i love him to death...no law or band will not keep us together...
ok dude you are an ignorant peice of crap! pit bull arent muts! you are sick to want to eat a dog! mans best friend! they arent ugly they are the most beautiful strong intelligent dogs alive! it will all come back to you in the end....have fun in hell. its buttholes like these that hurt this breed ! SAVE THE PIT BULLS! punish the deed not the breed
I believe that banning a Pit Bull is like banning a race of people. It's wrongs, and most pit bulls are extremely gentle, and eager to please the owner. AND NOT AGGRESSIVE TO PEOPLE. They, just like ANY BREED of dogs, could be aggressive if mistreated. These dogs are for loving owners, for they are very loving dogs.
This is an extremely great idea and hats of to who ever started this petition..I am part owner of PITFALL KENNELS with my brother Big Boi of the the group OutKast and we have a beautiful pitbull farm in Atlanta with houses about 35 dogs. They are trying to past a bill down here in Ga. to ban and destroy all pitbulls. We are trying to fight this along with some members from the a.d.b.a to prevent this from happening. These dogs are like children and are the results of there suroundings.I am always willing to help bring a better light to all the ignorance, mis judgement and stereo types that these dogs carry publicly or privately...www.pitfallke nnels.com... check out the satisfied customers page to see who owns these so called viscious animals..
How about imposing stricter penalties on those who fight and abuse Pits?Punish the deed not the breed.I have a half breed & she is the most loving animal ever.My Jack Russell is more aggressive.
It's amazing how many known "game" breeders are signing. It is good to know that those who profit from the suffering of these dogs are so in tune with the animal welfarists. But then, you know that saying about bedfellows . . .
me a 2 friends found a pitbull on the side off the road that escaped from a fighting ring her ears were cut off down to her head and we took her in and without our knowledge she was pregnate and gave birth to 7 healthy babies and we have keep all in our circle of friends and they have become healthy well-trained dogs that never would attack anything so forget who ever is trying to ban them because they have never had one.
It's about time the media stops showing pitbulls in a negative light and shows that it's not the breed as a whole, just the morons who choose to make the dogs aggressive.
Regards,
Todd B.
PS
Great idea on this petition, hopefully Fox will do right by us?
When i was young i was told that Doberman Pinscher were bad and dangous dogs until i own two, which prove to be untrue. Now i own a pitbull and was told the same stoies, which prove to be untrue. My buddy is a big baby and what's only to be loved.
It's about time that the media shows another side to these dogs, instead of catering to the media-induced hysterics who propose bans on dogs instead of holding irresponsible owners accountable.
My boyfriend has two pits , his mother used to breed them.Pits are very lovable animals. Its not the pitbull that has the issues , its the idiotic "owners" who mistreat pits and make them into fighting dogs , thus making it attack for no reason. I love pits , they are beautiful dogs and everyone deserves to know the truth!
my wife and i ,cindy, have 2 male bullys...living together in harmony...i could never invision my life without my two friends, meka and podunk...who we got from amanda at pibull prints rescue...they are the best...i have had a variety of animals...bullies are the best...i love to watch people's faces when they learn that these are pitbulls...all they can say is wow...they r so sweet...when i respond that this is the way the breed truly is...it changes the way they see the dogs..i also laugh at the people at petsmart that r having a ruff time with their animules...and mine are just being nice and quite...my dogs are my best friend next to my wife..
I remember when my grand-daughter brought home her pitbull. I'll admit I stereo typed and was scared of it at first. But after awhile I realized that there was nothing to be afraid of. And now, to this day, I have my very own pitbull who sleeps at the bottom of my bed.
Pits rock... I wouldnt own anything but a pit. Not to fight them.. but to have someone to love and care for... and have them feel the same for you. Its a great feeling comming home and having your pitbull talk to you.. and doing flips because he waited for you to come home. Great dogs :)
I've owned one pitbull and a few mixed breeds and they never showed any aggression. They are best friends... who will do anything to make you happy... just some of them end up in bad hands. They try to make those people happy.. but end up having to pay for it. Its so Sad and depressing... poor dogs. I believe they are the best bread you could ever own :)
bad owners? Bad dogs. Good owners? good dogs. That goes for every breed. I just read a story about a tiny pomeranean that killed a child. Pit owners, please be responsible. I love my pit and we are both fed up with the stigma
I have 2 beautiful male American Pitbull Terriers that I can not begin to express the joy they bring to mine and all my family and friends. They are the most loving breed I have ever been around and I am digusted by the misinformed publicity they recieve by the media.
People need to educate themselves better before passing judgement on a creature that is at their mercy. I own two rescue Pitbulls and they are the best companions one could ever wish for. Why is it that humans give each other chance after chance, and immediate trust? Whereas, Pitbulls are automatically damned?
I've introduced many individuals to my wonderful pit that goes just about everywhere with me. I am thanked ALL the time for they were scared from false reports of the breeds temperment.
I wish the media would stop describing pit bulls as vicious, it's almost as though a "pit bull" is an adjective to decribe a vicious dog. As lots of dog bites are from sheperds, labs, collies, etc, yet they are always labeled as "pit bulls". They are not vicious biting dogs, they are a registered breed. I am the guardian of two and as per the breed temperment, they are exceptional loyal dogs full of love and kisses and hugs for everyone they meet. I wish the media would show the real dog, and not the stereotype. It's about time the truth was revealed! Signed Sheryl Jones from BC Canada.
The pitbull is a clown, comedian, child, companion, confidant, and by far the best breed of dog I have ever owned. They have character and personality and it is a shame that anyone would discriminate against them because of it. If you look, ALL breeds of dogs have attacked people. Discrimination is discrimination no matter who/what it is aimed at and by hating, you are just as bad as you perceive them to be.
Like always, the media tells the bed side of the story. I have had a pit for years and never had problems. No one that has come ino contact with him has ever complained or has even been afaid of him. As with ANY pet if they are raised correctly then you would not have any problems.
I have had a pit bull for almost a year and would not trade him for anything! He is the most loyal, friendly, affectionate, and energetic dog. All of our neighbors love him as well. He loves children. In fact, at times he will even sit in front of the window and watch the children play in the yard as he wags his tail. I, myself, am an elementary teacher and would never want to see any harm come to children. I know some unfortunate incidents have occurred. Unfortunately, there are some awful people who take advantage of a pit bull's strength and loyalty and train their dogs to be fighters. This is what I do not approve of in any way! The act and the person should be punished, not the entire breed just as Chris Justice said on this very petition.
Did you know?
*The Pit Bull was used to represent the US in WW1 and a pit named "Stubby" became a highly decorated WW1 hero.
*President Theodore Roosevelt and Helen Keller both owned Pits.
*Popular companies like RCA and the Buster Brown Shoe Company used the breed as their mascots.
*A Pit Bull named Petie starred in the popular children's television series, Our Gang (The little Rascles); *Pit Bulls accompanied pioneer familes on their explorations for protection, hearding, and hunting.
*Laura Ingalls Wilder of the popular Little House books owned a working Pit Bulldog named Jack.
*And until the late 80's the Pit Bull was reguarded as America's sweetheart breed, admired, respected and loved.
What happened? We honor men and women who fight for this country or perform extraordinary selfless acts for others.. And yet legislation is being passed to kill off a loyal, loving friend who help our forefathers to build and protect this land?
WHY?
Breed specific legislation needs to be stopped now before it is too late. This bill is absolutely absurd... Punnishing a breed of animal instead of the owner makes no logical sense. Harsher punnishments should be put in place to take any animal from those who violate the law or mistreat their animals. I have 2 loving pits one was a rescue that would never hurt a living soul (except with a barrage of kisses). Thank you for putting this site together and please contact your local legislator to stop this bill from becoming law.
PLEASE do consider a "fair & balanced" news piece on the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) breed. There are so many well-known advocates for the breed (Kris Krawford and her search and rescue dogs; Diane Jessup - a well-respected trainer and published author, the folks at the United Kennel Club (UKC) and the American Dog Breeders Association (ADBA), rescue organizations like Bad Rap (www.badrap.org) and Pit Bull Rescue Central (www.pbrc.net) and the list goes on and on. Thank you for your consideration. . .
Pitbull stereotypes are amazing! If I even remotely thought either of my pitbulls could harm my child or anyone I would have them put down today. Instead I've learned they're just loyal, playful, loving dogs!
The only way to be "fair & balanced" is to show both sides of a story. Please show the real side of these wonderful, loyal, beautiful dogs. We promise you'll be pleasantly surprised!!!
Pitbulls aren't born thinking... mmm, i think that human will taste good. They learn aggression. Either they were the victim of abuse, neglect, or any kind of mistreatment. I have owned a few different dogs and i have never seen a more loyal, loving, and all around wonderful dogs, then the pitbull breed. And as for those people that maliciously raise your dog to kill, you deserve the punishment.
