We adopted a 60 lb. pit bull from the local animal shelter not too long ago, and since then he has bonded with my four other dogs, as well as the many children and animals that are parts of our big family. After the temperment of this sweet, loving, intelligent, awesome dog sparked my interest in the breed, I have done extensive research and worked to spread the news that pits aren't bad. We need to get people to understand that pits aren't the problem, but the "owners" are. If any other breed had to withstand the tortures and abuse that alot of the "bad" pit bulls have, you would get just as aggressive of a dog. But unfortunately, nothing can be done about the dogs until something is done about the people responsible for their bad reputations. Help stop over breeding, crack down more on animal abuse, and for goodness sakes get rid of those monsters that promote the death of innocent dogs by teaching them to rip eachother apart in a dog fighting ring!
We need to get it out that this awesome breed has a bad name and nothing else. I am tired of hearing about people losing their dogs because of stupid people. Luckily I live in Texas where that will likely never happen. I am willing to be contacted through email to help with whatever I need to do. GET THE TRUTH OUT.
will will never find a more loving and obedient breed of dog. I have a 37lbs pit who does nothing but lick you to death, she also sits on my couch all day and watches t.v. with my wife and two kids. keeping in mind, my pit is outstanding with my childern. I have a two year old and a four year old that pick on her all day and she does nothing but lay there and takes it. She loves those boys and if any body tries to harm them, look out!!!
I have learned from the founders of Pawsitively Pittbulls that these little dogs are sweet by nature. They are never inherently dispositioned against humans.
I am a proud companion to my sweet pitbull Lucille. She is very well behaved, gets along well with other dogs, cats and horses. 99% of the time, it is the beast on the other end of the leash who is the real problem - animal cruelty, neglect, lack of appropriate training, socialization and exercise. Those people who would seek to exterminate a breed of dog are the ones with the aggression issues, and perhaps it is those folks who should be put down in the interests of public safety. I see the need for measures to deal with dogs that really are dangerous, but that does not include my sweet poochie. Banning breeds is not the way to go as it does nothing to address underlaying issues of animal cruelty and irresponsible ownership.
I have a little staffordshire terrier and she's the sweetest little thing ever, but to she all this bad publicity towards these dogs are incredible to see. it all comes down to is the owner and how the dog was raised and socialized. I have seen the the meanest looking dog of the pitbull breed be the best protector of the children in its life, and im taking about six month old baby and this dog would only let the people the owner allowed to see the baby , now what more could you ask for. I pesonally would never own any other breed
all of us true animal lovers should take the same approach the feds do when they are trying to stop a heartless, unmerciful gang. we should join the spca and humane society and work from within to shut those ignorant cold blooded bastards down.
My sister is a pitbull breeder and am posting here to support the view that pitbulls are, in fact, gentle, loving and loyal animals. The thing that distinquishes whether an pitbull or ANY other animal will be kind or aggressive is entirely in the manner you raise and discipline your pet. I have raised several different breeds of dogs myself. I know for a fact, that pit bulls are some of the smartest and most obedient dogs you can own. People get caught up in the bad publicity that this particular breed of canine receive, but they are never recognized for being a loyal family companion. If people would stop using these wonderful animals for inhumane, and not to mention ILLEGAL dog fights, these gentle-natured animals might someday receive the proper respect and recognition that they deserve.
Recently, there has been 2 separate alleged pit bull attacks in my area. One regretably resulted in death. Although my heart breaks for the victims, I DO NOT blame the dogs, but the owners. Any animal is only as good as it is treated. I have a wonderful American Staffordshire Terrier which is commonly mistaken for a pit. I would hate to think that a ban could take a away a loving family pet because of publicity. Has anyone stopped to think how many other animal attacks are never reported in the news because it was not a pit or a rot? There are many onwers/breeders who love and care for their pits...sadly the only time pits are in the news is when it is bad. Maybe reporting the good IS in order.
The media is responsible for the bad rap for pit bulls in the first place...Id bet the public majority who are against pitt bulls have never even had contact with one...definately not ours thats for sure! (by the way is the target goal for signatures 10,000 or 100,000?)
My pit bulls (5)are my children. They are the most gentle and loving animals that I have ever had. They are so good with my 1yr old grandson, 1yr and 4yr old nephews. They give constant love and are so eager to please. At certain times in my life, they have kept me up and give so much unconditional love. They are not a threat to anyone. The only problem is irresponsible owners. Please save our loved and cherished pitbulls
As a 17 year veteran of Animal Control, I KNOW pitbulls get a bad rap. It's most often the owners who are at fault, not the breed. Let's stop blaming dogs for what we humans are most often at fault for...ignorance and irresponsibility.
The pits that I have known have been playful, friendly, smart and eager to please...Just like most other dogs. They will behave as they are trained. I really worry about the fighting and abuse these poor dogs endure.
It's about time to spead the positive word on this breed! Pit bulls are the most loving, trusting, loyal pets when raised in a nurturing environment. Time to acknowlege that the responsibility of raising a good pet falls on the owners.
The public is in need of a balanced perspective on this issue. Will Fox News take the lead and present a fair and balanced view of this issue? I hope so.
Our pit has been part of our family for the last 3 years and adores my teenage son, who has numerous friends coming in and out of the house. His friends adore "Miss Pitty" and can't believe she is such a sweet dog. He also races motorcycles and she goes w/us on our racing trips and everyone at the races adore her and make a special trip to the motorhome to see her every weekend. The public needs a education.
With so far nothing but negative media coverage, the APBT DESERVES something honest and positive from the media. They are smart, loyal, and loving companians that want to do nothing but please people. All people.Even the ones that abuse them. It is the dogs who get punished because of bad ownership. What I see and hear today is EXTREME PREJIDUCE against an entire breed of dog from people who not only know NOTHING about them, my guess would be that most of them that hate pitbulls so much, have NEVER EVEN MET ONE. Their hate being fueled only by what they see on TV. That to me is a disgrace. Please give our dogs, the pitbulls, the positive, unopioniated coverage that they deserve. Thank You!
I have a 5yr. amstaffX. I adopted her from the humane society when she was 3yrs. She is the best dog I have ever owned. I trust her more than my great dane
All riht lets just get this one out there eventhough the breed was made for fighting doesnt mean that there a bad dog doggs are just like children they all need dicapline and love and as long as treat a pit right and show it disapline when it needs it it will be just as loving and loyal as any other breed it all comes down to the owners if the dogs has negligent owners and hasnt been raised right it will be a menace just like kids will be but you dont see nyone stoping people fom dicaplining their dogs . i have seen all types if pitts but it always comes down to the owners and its not just pits it any breed most people wouldnt keep a wolf for a pet why (savage animals basic killer intic to survive can not be tamened right ) WRONG Ihave a wolf and he is the most loving and caring ,loyal pet. As long as the dog comes from an untanted blood line so that it doesnt have any mentl problems and this can happen with any breed not just pit bulls (this means absolutly no inbreeding)and the dog is love and taken good care off just as long as you feed the dog and train it the you want it trained the dog will not turn . this doesnt mean that unlike any other breed the dog will fail to come to its owne o owners protectionif they thinks they the owner is in danger even if the owner is playing witha freind dog dont see policman fireman of paramedics they just see people uniforms and flashing lights mean nothing and the sierens just scar them this is just another case of you cant judge a book by its cover.
A pit bull takes after his owner. IF the owner is mean, the dog will be. Mayber we need to require people to pass some kind of aplication before they are allowed to own a pit bull. I am a breeder and do not sell to anyone that doesn't pass my wifes scrutiny.
Why is it we get to chose what lives and dies? We act like we are God. Pitbulls are creatures just like us, what if they chose to exterminate us for treating them the way many of us do? All this talk about their blood line and how evil it is. How far off the blood line do you think a boxer is? Pits and boxers share a lot of the same features and trates. The APBT is the only dog I have ever wanted. I never wanted one b/c they were supposed to be killers. If you will take the time to actually look into a pitbull's eyes you will see is doesn't want to cause harm. All they want is to be loved. All they are is another innocent dog, just like a mut that isn't pure of any breed in our eyes, it is still a dog, which is still a creature. want to cause a problem? Take a mother poodle and breed it with her son, now let the pups do the same thing or similar. You now have a highly unstable and squirly poodle. Do you realize how many PEOPLE inbreed pitbulls? It's cheaper, or it was a mistake and now they want to try and make money from it. Some things are just not supposed to happen, and killing this breed off for what PEOPLE often do just isn't supposed to happen. I hope that more can understand what I have just written. Michael
In a seven year study, Pit Bulls accounted for 1.89% of all reported dog bites. I own one and never want to own a different breed. I have to lie and tell people she's a boxer mix to keep them from running away from a dog that might get some slobber on your face. I think this petition is a good idea.
Jack Mayhoffer has a blue nose pit bull and he loves it. It attacks kids, with it's tongue. It also attacks cats, with its jaws and picks em up and carry em around like it was his baby. Jack Mayhoffer thinks pit bulls are beutiful and nice.
Proud owner of a 3 year old red nose.
Its all on the owners shoulders. No dog is born with hatred, hatred is learned.A dog of any breed will always try to do what its tought, Last week my neice was bitin on the head by a husky. The
dog is being put down on friday. The dog has no idea what he did was wrong becouse he was not raised properly. It seems odveies that It does not matter the breed or age its the upbreing and traing that A dog does or does not recieve. Iam a father of two and my dog has had of family oreinted upbring,he is like one of the kids they all play together ever day, they are the best of freinds they are family.
PUNISH THE OWNERS NOT THE BREED.
i love pit bulls, i own one myself, an 8 month old pup named scooby. My friend breeds and trains pits, and my moms friend trains them as well. its not the breed thats bad, its the owners. too many younger owners of pit bulls think pits are supposed to be mean, so when they get them and find out they aren't, they beat them and torture them til they are mean. don't ban pit bulls, punish the horrible owners.
Mr. Bryant: You cannot punish an entire breed for the actions of a few. EVERY breed has a vicious dog, it depends on how they are trained. It is the owners fault not the dogs! I believe there were more rottwieler attacks then there were pitbulls in 2004. Get off your butt and do your job, don't hand out easy solutions. MURDER IS NOT THE ANSWER. What makes me laugh though, is the fact that you are trying so hard to have this breed banned for, and I will use your words, "a safer Ontario" If you want a "safer Ontario" stop releasing pedophiles into our communities and protecting them. Do something about that! A man who has molested and bothered young children from the age of 11 to 18 years old for 40 YEARS! he did 5 years in jail and is now being released?? seriously do you think that pedophilia is something you can cure??? sit him down with a doctor a few times a week oughta cure him? Geez, It scares me that the place I live in is run by such dense people. Leave these dogs alone and go for the real problem..the owners! Killing these dogs makes you a killer...We will never have a "safer Ontario" when people like you are in charge, and that scares me
The fight against ignorance is a constant uphill battle. My wife and I have four large breed dogs (including a pitbull, rotty, bull mastiff and hound dog) and five cats that all live under one roof peacefully. Owners are the ones who determine the temperament and behavior of their dogs.
Please if you are going to talk about Pit Bulls that you do not stereotype. Only report facts, I know as I am a military wife that sometimes things are not reported correctly. Pit Bulls are loving, caring, loyal, family pets. Do not beat all Pit Bulls down just because of irresponsible owners. What about the cocker spaniels that bite, or the poodles. Take it from a person that worked with all breeds, call your local vets, shelters, grooming and boarding kennels, ect.
i am not the one that created it but i am asking please that all do not like pits to keep your negative comments to yourself. this is not the place for you to speak your opinion. noone cares how gruesome or brutal you are. if you dont agree with saving the lives of innocent creatures just leave this site.PLEASE. on another note...i am a faithfull pit bull lover. i am passionate and loving to my three pits and they are greatly appreciative
IKILLPITBULLS~~~
You are'nt related to George Bush are you? That would explain alot!
Its jerks like you that screw things up for everyone else. I highly doubt that anyone would sell you an "automatic rifle" Unless you stole it from your redneck Father/Uncle (same person I bet).
yea DOGS DONT BITE PEOPLE..PEOPLE MAKE DOGS BITE PEOPLE..SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT IT..IF YOU SEE A PITBULL ON THE SIDEWALK COMING YOUR WAY YOU THINK ITS GONNA ATTACK YOU RANDOMLY JUST LIKE THAT..NOO STUPID ASS PEOPLE LIKE TO TOUCH DOGS IN THE FACE AND PLAY WITH THEM WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING THE ANIMAL.. SOO THATS ON YOU IF YOU GET BIT..DONT TAKE IT OUT ON THE DOG OR PUT IT TO SLEEP BECAUSE YOU SHOULDNT FUCK AROUND WITH DOGS YOU DONT REALLY KNOW
shit pitbulls are awesome dogs and i dont know why the fuck people gotta b so scared and shaken up when they walk by one or see one..yea they may be bad dogs and have bad reputations..but thats only how we make them..lol it aint in their blood to b bad..soo people need to chill with the pitbull thing..if you dont want 1 dont get 1 and if your neighbor has 1 dont fucking report them for having a pitbull just cause your scared..if you have a pitbull phobia or something just don go near it..youll live and you can handle it ..lol
The fact is that pitbulls are more aggressive then other dogs because that is what they are bred for, and its what many people buy them for. I dont mind if somebody looks after a pitbull and is a responsible owner, but I have no respect for the people who feel they require 100+ pounds of muscle and teeth for protection in the city. Big, strong dogs belong in the country, NOT in the city, and NOT around other dogs and children.
Pitbulls and AmStaffs are completely misunderstood animals that people make bad, they are not bad by birth. The idea that shelters euthanize them all, without hesitation, even the puppies is ludicrous, cruel, and should not happen as it is inarguably unethical. Pitbull kill shelters should be ashamed of themselves.
YEAH MR IKILLPITBULLS WHY DONT U TRY SOME OF THAT SHIT ON A PERSON,MATTER OF FACT TRY IT ON ME,I GAURANTEE U AND UR FRIEND DONT MAKE IT OUT OF THE FIELD,BUT I WONT EVEN CREEP TO UR LOWER THEN EARTH LEVEL...ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT PITBULLS IS THEY R THE BEST BREED OF DOG,THEY IDOLIZE THERE OWNERS,THATS WHY THEY WILL FIGHT TO THE DEATH FOR THEM,EVEN IF THEY DONT LIKE IT THEY WILL DO IT FOR THERE OWNER.DONT GET ME WRONG I HATE DOG FIGHTS AND PEOPLE WHO FIGHT THEM BUT IT JUST SHOWS THE WILL POWER OF THE DOG.I HAVE 2 PITS AND A ROTTWEILER AND THE LOOKS I GET WHEN IM WALKING THEM ALMOST UPSETS ME ..JUST BECAUSE I HAVE PITS AND ROTTS PEOPLE LOOK AT ME LIKE OH MY GOD I WONDER WHEN HIS DOGS R GOING TO ATTACK HIS SON..BUT OH WELL F__K EM...I LOVE THE BREED...SO PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED..
