I'll sign, but unfortunately knowing FOX, they'll take this idea and turn it into a negative story on Pit Bulls, which is something we absolutely don't need. Maybe a more reputable station should be petitioned...just a thought.
My pittbull Cinnamon is the sweetest and by far the best dog i've ever had, she's great around kids, cats and other dogs, if everyone could spend time with her they'd never have bad thoughts about a pittbull again, this side of the breed should definitely be seen.
My son and daughter-in-law own a pit bull. "Frankie" is one of the friendliest dogs I have ever been around. All she ever wants to do is play. There isn't a mean bone in her body.
Any animal will bite when provoked, even a human. With all theae media stories about vicious pits we never hear what was being done to the animal to make it attack. Has anyone ever thought that the dog was being poked by the "innocent" child that it bit?
I agree with Susan Frye. I have a pit and this is my second one. They are wonderful dogs but not for everyone. They do require special understanding. I don't think it is that they bite people more than other breeds but when they do there are larger consequences for everyone involved. As owners we have to be more responsible than other breed owners.
my pits are my life. if i were ever to loose them i would die. i dont think i could live without this gentle animal in my life. they are great dogs to keep you company. Please dont kill the dogs because of what the owners did.
i have five pitts and i love all of them. They live in complete harmony with each other. I was bit by a pitt once but like Heinzel said it was my fault i was turning on a light and i steped on her baby's i didnt get mad either. I felt bad that i almost hurt her babys.
pit bulls are kinda like guns its not the dogs fault that it was trained to be super aggressive it is the owner.like guns they dont kill people there is someone there to pull the trigger just like the dogs they will do as they are trained
My 2 pits are my children..my life...don't punish them..punish the as*holes that abuse them! It will never stop until people are more aware(educated)..and the laws get tougher!
I have two brothers and each of them has a pit bull. Both dogs are also brothers they are a year and a half. they are the best dogs in the world. It is time that we heard the truth about this breed.
As someone involved in rescue and with the breed for over 20 years I can say with all my heart that in the proper homes a well trained and well cared for pit bull is a dog above all others. However, I do think that the point that many people miss is that this is not a breed for everyone or just anyone. Owning a pit is a huge responsibility and not every John Q. Public is the caliber of owner who can care for a pit - or any active, intelligent, busy terrier for that matter. By all means I feel the breed needs more positive press but it also needs INTELLIGENT press. Encouraging people who really should own a lab to adopt a pit instead is not helpful either. 100% of dog bite cases can be traced back to owner responsiblity in some way or another. Responsible owners are what's needed!
I have a pitbull.
She is a beautiful & well tempered dog. I would never give her up. When are people going to see that it is ot the dog but the owner of these dogs that are responsible to teach them right from wrong! Do not blame the dog, blame the people that abuse them!
I agree with Ben. Punish the trainer/abuser not the poorly trained and abused. I have two wonderful loving snuggly girls who long to please my husband and I. It's too bad that selfish and uncaring people use this stong bond for unsafe and inhumane profit!
I have the most loving English Staffordshire bull terrier. He has the sweetest nature. He is six years old and has never shown any aggresion so much for Michael Bryant and his ticking time bomb. What I think about Michael Bryant cannot be printed what an arrogant *** he is. I just hope that Clayton Ruby can do something as my poor dog will just die with a muzzle on. He will not know what he is being punished for. I will never vote for the Liberals again.
I have been around pitts all my life and its the owners who make them crazy, and someactually use them as hunting dogs and those are not agressive, protective but notjump the fence kill you type.bad owners make bad dogs and it can happen to any breed even to mixed breeds.if any dog is beat ,starved and the like they tend to be aggressive towards humans.the last red nose pitt I owned i saved his life from a crack head and was very good with my kids and hewas almost 1 when i got him he wouldnt hurt a fly.The pitt also at young ages dont realize their own strength but can make excellent family dogs.
I used to be one of those ignorant people who were afraid of the breed on account of the hype. Then one day my daughter found a male pup in a box about 8 wks old which had been burnt all over his body with a cigarette. We tracked down the litter, and I have his sister too, who was burnt with battery acid. They are both 2 yrs old now, and the best dogs I've ever owned. Rocky the male loves my 10 month old granddaughter and loves to kiss her all the time. I have no fears about my two pets, only that I can speak from experience how ANY breed can be vicious, put in unloving hands. I cried when I looked up pitbull fights on the pc. If we as humans were treated the same way as these dogs, we'd bite out of fear too!!!
This is just ridiculas. Why ban a breed of dog??
Why not just ban *a certian race of people*, since we do a lot of bad things??? Think about all the bad and disgusting stuff the human race does. If they want to eliminate *attackers* they should start with majority who are doing and tht forsurely not a breed of dog!
Just a few weeks ago as my 15 month old neice was sitting on the Pit Bulls head, bouncing and having a great time while the dog just lay there, completely unconcerned, I couldn't imagine a more precious site or a more undeserved reputation for these animals. Work needs to be done to shed the stereotype for not just Pit Bulls but also the other breeds currently black-listed by many insurance companies.
I think all this media stuff about pitbulls is sad. Pitbulls are GREAT dogs and the only reason people think they are evil is because some bad people out there hurt there pitbulls and make them aggressive and let them loose. Pitbulls (if you get them from a great breeder) can be the greatest dogs ever!

Its so easy to say its something simple like a breed and ban them. ANY dog can be nasty if provoked, misbred or mishandled. What's next? Banning all dogs based on breed?
I love all animals, and if they ban one or say they are dangerous when they are not, thats cruel. I dont own one, but thats because I have 5 pets and mom wont get me more. but pitbulls arent dangerous! its the owners who hit them yell at them, and make themselves beleive pitbulls are bad.
I love my pits to death. But I do know one thing about them. Some of them are naturally aggressive towards other dogs. It is something you cannot take out of them they are born like that. As much as i love and are devoted to the breed it is something that people should know. With people....they are the best dog to have ever!!
I am a water well svc. tech. and the son of an honored UKC judge and P.bull breeder. I have encountered many Pits.[pets, champs, and so called 'ghetto' dogs] I have seen them to be cosistently predictable, and a reflection of their environment and upbringing.
I own two pit bull mixes and they are so loving. I also own 6 cats that they treat like their babies. They are fabuluos pets and not aggressive towards anyone or anything.
Like children raised in violent environments, pitbulls reflect the values they are surrounded by. Gentle, loving homes create gentle loving dogs and kind empathetic children, violent and vicious environments create the opposite.
Please show the wonderful quailities of the breed. Make the owners responsible. It's not the dogs fault they belong to idiots. That's like blaming a car in an accident instead of the driver.
I will stand up and be counted when it comes to my family pet!! Fix the law that cannot be enforced "Dog Owners Liability Act" Stomper/Blue and I thank you!
i agree with the fact that these dogs have been used to fight due to the sick minds of a human.. it isnt in the pitbuls nature to be violent, but if taught that is the right thing they will do it, and they do it to please the owner.. these dogs look for alot of attention and are very affectionate towards humans, i will never give up my baby for anything in this world!
There are many who criticize this breed, and discriminate against American Pitbull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and similar breeds such as American Bull Dogs, and Bull Terriers. Many of the same people who do this, are merely regurgitating out of ignorance, the media induced, sensationalized hype that created the animals' bad reputation in the first place. I for one, won't stand for anymore irresponsible reporting, regarding these naturally affectionate, affable, intelligent, highly trainble dog breeds. These dogs have so much to offer. Origionally revered in colonial America as the favored family pet, as much as the Golden Retriever is today, the media has degraded these highly personable, social animals to vicious man killers. Because these dogs present such a strong, athletic physique, pitbulls and other similar breed types are targets for this kind of bad publicity. I am a young mother, with four young children, (all girls) ages 7, 4, 2, and six months. Last year I set out to purchase or adopt a dog to become our family pet. Originally, I researched many types of smaller house breeds, such as Pomeranians, Papillions, and Jack Russel Terriers. I considered many types of medium sized breeds, including Austrailian Cattle Dogs, and Border Collies, (which I have owned, trained, and brought to the show ring, before I was married)I never considered owning a pitbull, becuase I did not know much about them, but one day at a farmers' market, a family was giving them away. After observing the parent dogs for an hour I formed an opinion that these are highly sociable, trainable dogs who like to be with people. I took one of the 8 week old puppies home and immediately began my research on the breed. Much to my delight, I learned just how much these compassionate animals have to offer society. Because of their exceptional loyalty and intelligence, these dogs are capable of serving the communities they live in in a number of ways. They hold such jobs as
I am dating a man who owns a pitbull and like many other people, I was rude and mean to this breed of dog because of the bad publicity. I reliezed in a short time of knowing the dog that he isn't what people make the bread out to be. Not only did my perception of the breed changed , but so did my families and friends. The only thing I have to say to people who believe that this breed of dog is born with a violent trait is, People who grow up and become criminals must be born with a violent trait, because of course we wouldn't want to put the blame on the people who raised them. The truth hurts and that is where the problem lies, it doesn't lie in PITBULLS.
My "5th child", Ruger Henry, is an incredibly, loving, staffordshire terrier. He just lost his best friend, Buns Marie- a great dane, to cancer; he feels the pain of missing her like a human would. His human family members offer only good words; he is loyal, loving, friendly, and most of all he gives and gives and gives so much more than we can give back.
