My grandson is being raised with an AmStaff who is very affectionate and never gives any indication of aggression toward any human. We have a very small long haired 'chuwawa' who is very jealous of grandson & others & is not predicable near anyone. The Am Staffordshire is treated with kindness and he responds in kind.
We have a pit bull, his best friend is a wheaten terrier they run and play he is my lap dog who love everyone and everything! This is a breed that has gotten a bad rep, because of the lowest form of humans trying to make a buck and think is fun to watch dogs destroy eachother. Maybe the should eat gun poweder and stick themselves into a closet for weeks at a time and see how they are when they come out or escape. LOOK HOW MANY PITTS ARE IN SHELTERS AND NEED HOMES< THE ONES THAT MANAGE TO ESCAPE DEATH..IT MAKES ME VERY ANGRY!!!!
I have a red nose pit, he is my baby and my son's best friend. I also have a cat they sleep together. This is truely the best dog I have ever had. GOOD PEOPLE GOOD DOG BAD PEOPLE BAD DOGS!!YOU CAN ACTUALLY SAY THAT ABOUT HUMANS TOO! We are actually going to adopt another PIT, I wouldn't want any other breed!!!!
Animal behavior (mostly) is a factor of environment and not genetics, although exceptions exist, Pitbulls that were not raised to be mean and agressive will show their true loving and intelligent nature.
Many of my friends have Pits and they are as friendly as can be. They're beautiful creatures and it's time we start seeing them as just that instead of monsters,
This is so true. Once again the idiots out there have taken it upon them selves to get rid of these dogs. Instead of trying to find the source of the problem.
I have a 2 year old pit bull. I got him when he was 6 weeks old. He has been the best dog I have ever had. He is loving and loyal and very smart. He is not agressive at all. He is a very loved part of our family. In fact our cat had kittens 6 weeks ago and he loves them and is very gentle with them. He has never tried to hurt or bite anyone.
My Am Staff, Knight, is a well behaved dog. He was raised in a very hostile environment and went into a "shell" if you would. The owner wanted nothing to do with him and Call the S.P.C.A and told them to come and get him. Fortunitly ( to make a long story Short) He was rescued by a loving Breeder of Am Staffs and was Best in Show in a number of Dog Shoes 1yr later. Now he is with my family and he is considered one of the family. He is like a giant cat who loves to snuggle with my 2yr old son.
People who raise an animal in a negitive way ,must have been brought up in a negitive environment- IT ALL STARTS IN THE HOME-
I OWN ONE OF THESE WONDERFUL DOGS AND WITH IT A PUG, THEY ARE THE MOST ENTERTAINING PAIR OF ANIMALS YOU WILL EVER SEE. MY PIT ADORES MY PUG AND WOULD NEVER HARM HIM OR ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER. PITS ARE MISUNDERSTOOD. I LOVE MY PIT AND WOULD NOT TRADE HER IN FOR THE WORLD, I WILL ALWAYS HAVE A PITBULL IN MY LIFE, NO MATTER WHAT THE MEDIA OR ANYONE ELSE SAYS!!
It is amazing how ignorance can become law, but it happens. My Zoe is the most affectionate dog. She is so amazing with the youngest of children. Law enforcement needs to do thier job!
Cigarettes, Alcohol, Guns, and Automobiles KILL and INJURE more people & cost the insurance companies MORE money than DOG BITES each year. And all they do is regulate, restrict all of these...so what is the difference...Obviously, they thought it through because to ban ALL of these items would put a lot of Americans out of jobs...but they want to take the easy way out with the Pit Bulls. When I ask people about Guns, and their right to own a gun , they go crazy because they say "GUNS, DON'T KILL PEOPLE, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE"... how many times have you heard that.... so what is wrong with gun laws...well, it would take away the guns from the RESPONSIBLE owners...Let's see I think we are getting somewhere...
Yes, and Dog people say... "THERE ARE NO BAD DOGS, JUST BAD OWNERS"...You shouldn't take away the dogs from the RESPONSIBLE owners.
People need to see both sides of the story. NOT just the negative. I own a pit bull mix, and her main goal in life is to snuggle with the family on the couch!
I do not own a pit-bull or any other vicious dog, but most dogs are very friendly and sweet. The reason why they get so out of control is because their owners teach them to be bad and aggressive. If you teach your dog to do certain things and act certain they will. Dogs are amzing animals, no dog should be banned from any state
I have never owned a pitbull, but have known many and they are wonderfuls companions. It is unfortunate for this breed to be targeted because of irresponsible owners.
In order to be "fair and balanced" as is the FOX news motto, I urge you to run a positive story on Pit Bulls as a breed.
I have a pit who is 12 years old and has never once hurt anyone or anything. He has two cats that terrify him and loves to play with my niece and nephew.
Please tell the story of the responsible pet owner who knows how to raise a dog properly... it isn't the breed who has a problem, it's the irresponsible owners.
Thanks!
FRANKLY I THINK IT IS THE OWNER AND NOT THE DOGS FAULT. WE HAVE RAISED PITBULLS FOR YEARS AROUND KIDS, DOGS, CATS, HORSES, COWS, CHICKENS...YOU NAME IT & NOT ONE OF THEM HAD AN EVIL BONE IN THEIR BODY. MAYBE WE SHOULD BAN STUPID PEOPLE FROM HAVING PETS....PITBULL OR OTHERWISE.
I have a beautiful, loving, American Pit Bull named Aidan. Out of all dogs I have known and owned I have never had such a loyal companion. It is horrible that owners of these wonderful dogs, are mistreating them and turning them into these out of control animals that the media loves to exaggerate. Any animal at any time if mistreated or abused will react in a aggressive manner. It is horrible that all Pit Bulls are getting this rap. I hope that this will shine some light on what wonderful dogs they really are. And to those that mistreat these animals, give me a break.....pick on something or someone that is able to fight back. Quit making these wonderful dogs look like predators.
What can I say about the media, especially FOX News, that any intelligent person doesn't already know? They don't care who they hurt, just how their ratings are doing. They should put the dog owners on TV and then let everyone know what a crime it is to use one animal to harm another, or a human. They should be punished. Too many people get away with this abuse and it makes me sick. Our family owned an APBT, who was without a doubt, a phenomenal example of the best of the breed. He was hit by a car and passed on, so we rescued an Am Staff, who is a true example of proper breeding. Unfortunately he was raised by a man who tried "turning him mean", and failed. He gave the dog away, and we got him. He was so scared of people but after time he warmed up. We had a baby after he had been with us a while and has been absolutely perfect. I would do anything for this dog, and spend a ot of time trying to educate the ignorant masses! Please be kind to these sweet souls!
I have a 10 month old pit bull who is the best pet anyone could ever have. He is loyal, fun and loving. He is never mean and loves to play with all kids, adults and dogs he meets. He is part of our family and he is completely spoiled! We recently purchased a king size bed to accomadate his sleeping between us.
We love our pit bull and would love to see a positive show on them.
I rescued a pitbull who was used as a bait dog. How she could ever trust a human again is beyond me, but she turned out to be the most wonderful, gentle dog I had ever had (and I'd had many). At first, I was afraid of her becasue of all the negative things I had read about the breed. But all that was wrong. Please don't stigmatize these dogs any longer. They are fabulous pets with the right owner.
I am involved in animal rescue and have fostered and trained numerous pit bulls over the years. Each and every one of them have been the sweetest most wonderful animal a person could want in their home. It's a tragedy that this breed is misrepresented by the media and those who don't know any better. It's bad PEOPLE that abuse and train these dogs to be vicious. Consequently, there is legislation trying to impose a ban on the breed in some parts of the country or strict guidelines to follow such as keeping the dog muzzled in public. We have to take a stand against this discrimination of the breed. They cannot speak for themselves.
I've owned 2 pit-mixes and they were sweet, gentle, lovable dogs('cause that's how I am). Any dog can be trained to be vicious - they're not born vicious. When you see a vicious dog, take a look at the owner!
I recently rescued a pit bull mix from a local shelter. She would have been killed later that week if we had not adopted her. She had been abused as a puppy. We are in our 5th week of dog training with her and she has become the most loving sweet and obedient dog I have ever owned. She sleeps with my four year old daughter and is best friends with our 6 year old Chessie. It's not the dogs fault that humans are idiots.
The media focuses on the bad stories of pit bull attacks. They leave out the part where the pit has been trained to fight, beaten, tortured, neg lected. The good stories they report a line or two. They dont elaborate on what great dogs pit bulls are when they are not abused. That hey look this pit bull didnt eat someone it saved someone.
I agree with the creator of this petition, hiding is not saving our dogs. Let's put them back in yards of loving and educated animal lovers. Let's take our dogs out of the getto, slums, drug dealers hands and fight pits and bring them into our hearts and loving homes again where they originally belonged. While we are at it, why doesn't anyone reading these send $25.00 to an Pitbull Rescue Group today!
I have had Pit Bulls as companions for 30 years and they are the BEST breed of dog imaginable. I will never go another day in my life without one. I am sick and tired of the bad rap and abuse that these dogs get. My Pit Bulls have lived with children, cats and even DUCKS! Ban the MORONS at the other end of the leash! NOT THE PIT BULLS!!!
Please correct me if you think I am wrong in saying if ALL PITT BULL TERRIERS are DANGEROUS BREEDS, then should we then start to BRAND other things for example.. People on death row and in prison around the world for Murder and child molestations etc.. If those Murders and child molesterors have children does that make their children instantlty murderers or child molestorers too???? So if this is the case then may be we should look at uthanasing all prisioners and people that have been charged with an offence that offends some one so that we can irradicate this problem ... That way we can live in a fucking "BOB CAR" perfect world. What do u think ??ps.. I am sure I have some blood line in me that says my ansestors were aboriginals ohh fuck! Does that make me an alcholic? Get a grip Bob Car u have no idea what your on about.. may be u should have a look at ur own ansestry... are you and aboriginal or child molesteror or may be a murderer? PSS.. please have the balls to look at this link .. and stop judging a book by its cover..

Knee jerk reaction! Bob Carr and the other poodle lovers who really want all large dog's banned, have not got a clue, as to what is a dangerous dog. The problem i have mentioned to you half wits before, lies with the owner's. Circumstances: 1: What was the child doing on private property. 11: Where's the parent's. Not watching their children. obviously. 111: Why are those children teasing that dog behind the fence and where are their parent's. 1V: The women's fault for interviening in a dog fight. You never hear this side of the story. Give me a break, Bob Carr you clown. There is no such thing as a dangerous dog. Sorry, Scotch Terrior's. Many people are weary of these dog's and for good reason. Many children are frightened of these dog's. It has to do with the animal's upbringing, as to what nature the dog's gona take. What utter rot, to say Pit's are dangerous dog's. I have been savaged by little terrior's and many people i know can vouch for their savageness. People that own these dog's by right, let them do what they want. Nothing is ever said about these dog's. O' sorry Bob. The Pit's must have interbred with them at some stage. (You Idiot)I challenge anyone from the media or pound, (not you Bob, you are an Idiot) to come to my place and see my so called savage dog's play with my six and seven year old children in the back yard. O' sorry, they are not Pit's. One is a Staffi cross, who's jaw and head are bigger and probably more powerful than a Pit. I also have a bullterrior cross, who has a powerful lock jaw. Both dog's get the best care and love my family can give. They are the kid's dog's. The Staffi is so dosile, you would not know his there half the time. To say Pit's are savage breeds, is a bit like saying all Aboriginal's are alchoholic's (I have Aboriginal friend's. An Example only) It is the owner's, of the dog's and people tha
I have 2 pit bull mixes. They are the best dogs. They couldn't be better with kids. My friend's kids love them. Some people freak out when they find out they are pits. They are fine until they ask the breed. Proving it is not the animal itself, but the bad name they get from the media.
I have rescued Pits that have been abused and have personally seen how love and patience can turn them around. I have also seen and know many Pits that have been raised by resposible and loving people and they are fantastic animals. I have a Pit right now that shows the lie in these dogs being vicious by nature. I'd be proud for anyone to meet him. He's a great dog. He's also a rescue that has been abused!
I own a pitbull and I also have an eight year old child. My dog has never so much as showed his teeth. Pits are incredibly great dogs. they are very smart and with the proper training, they are very well behaved. Pitbulls are abused all to often! If some one kicked the $%#@ out of you, you would be pretty mean too. Pitbulls take care of thier owners as good as the owners take care of the pit-just as any dog would. DONT BLAME THE BREED, BLAME THE DEED.
It is all on how the dog is raised and treated. There needs to be tougher laws on the abuse of animals. If a person can mistreat an animal then there is no doubt in my mind they will do that to a person.
I have fostered pit bulls for several years and seen some truely terrible cases of crultely, this breed is so resilient and so loyal. I would never own any other breed. It is time for some positive media coverage on this issue.
I never knew what a pit was until we fostered one, then adopted him. We got one of his siblings a year later, who is also a pound pup. We most recently adopted a tortured, mutilated pit to live with my 88 year old mom. These dogs are the most loving of any we've encountered in our 7 years of volunteering at our city pound. I can honestly say that I would never have any other dog. It's time for Fox to expose the REAL truth about the breed!
I think this pitbull issue is ridiculous i cant believe how narrow minded and stupid a man could be someone who doesnt even know what a pitbull breed looks like i have a new pitbull puppy after growing up with them and knowing there personality and what beautiful intelligent dogs that they every dog can attack with the right care and home with educated owners this wont be a problem .!
"Punish the deed not the breed".
I have two wonderful rescued pit bulls and as a result of their unbelievable love, I rescue pit bulls. We need more responsible people who recognize the breeds potential of ANIMAL NOT HUMAN aggression. Most breeders and shelters as well do not provide education about the breed and the breed suffers as a result. They need our love not our hate.
I've owned a pit bull through many years of childhood until that dog ran infront of a car and died. I understand how dog abuse leads to mean dogs. Some people intentionally make their pit bulls mean by doing cruel things to them. You can make any dog mean with abuse. Maybe people should be educated rather than put the blame on one specific type of dog. Of course, other dogs attack people without making it on the news. It's up to you, the news, to educate the people rather than spread the hype.
I am the proud owner of two pitbulls, and the father of 2 children. My kids are 3 1/2 and 4 mo. old. My dogs as well as my children socialize just fine along with other dogs. I'm an active member of my local club and am always trying to educate the public as to the many myths about the breed. I think it would be a great moment for you guys to do a positive story about this breed and would say alot about your news station's understanding that there is always two sides to a story. I'm not fingerpointing but alot of the misrepresentations are coming from news agencies. Thanks
"Fair And Balanced"
My pitt is my best friend and everyone who initially scoffed at me when I told them I had gotten a pitt bull is now jealous of my dog ( including my mother). They are so misunderstood. All they want to do is make you happy and they have such big hearts full of love.
I have rescued several pitbulls that were considered aggressive and have successfully rehabitliated them. These intelligent dogs aim to please, they just need the right direction. One of the pits I rescued I met when she viciously attacked me in my neighborhood. I rescued her from animal control and we became fast friends and was placed in a loving home without any problems since. These dogs just need the right guardian.
I have been around dogs of all breeds my whole life. They are like children, they learn from thier "parents" how to behave. Pitbulls that I have been in contact with have been sweet, kid friendly, obediant and trust worthy. The owners of the dogs that go out and attack innocent people are not pets they are natural bred killers who's handlers/owners raise to be vicious and destructive.
I have 2 pits and my older dog Kracker is one of the best dogs you could ever find he is great around anyone dont get me wrong if he feels threatened he may growl but what dog dont? The pup I just got and so far he is great also.I think it is the way the owner has raised the animal on how the animal will act this goes for any breed!! I also work for a vet's office and we see dogs daily and the ones that have scared me tha most are NOT the pits and rotts it is the german shephards and the smaller dogs and it is how you socialize your animals that makes or breaks them as far as their attitude towards other people or animals!!! Come visit my dogs I gurantee you will find loving and friendly animals.
Save the dog, do not punish good owners. Inforce stronger punishment to neglectful owners, abusive owners, and bad breeders. Save the dog and hold owners responsible.
Ban the irresponsible owner's not the breed. I own two beautiful Boxer/Pit Bull mixes. They are both very loving and affectionate. I rescued Baby from MCAC. She was labeled very dog aggressive, a cat killer, and not good around children. She has proved MCAC's negative labels to be wrong. She plays with my Rottweiler/Lab mix, Rocky, and my lab, Honey, both rescue dogs. She is also around three cats, and loves children. Tulsa was rescued from an irresponsible backyard breeder. She too is very loving and affectionate. Help prosecute people who breed these beautiful loving dogs to fight. Stop prosecuting the breed.
My 3 pit bulls sleep in the bed with me at night and enjoy playing with my friends' small children. I have never had a problem with any of them, which are, by the way, all rescues. These dogs are protective and they're supposed to be. If something is threatening their family they are going to react in a way that's going to make that threat go away and stay away. It's not the dog that's the problem it's the people who think that the dog is a status symbol and not family.
i own 2 pitbulls that have always been very calm and wonderful around children and other animals. the meanest dogs i have ever encountered happened to be little dogs!
I believe it is your job to be a good and accurate reporter. Please make sure you give both sides to every story. Please do an investigative report on the owners and how the dogs lived their life day to day. I have just recently adopted a 6 month old pitbull because he was given away 5 different times. He is our 4th pitbull we've owned 2 have since passed away and not one of our dogs have ever bitten anyone. But they are our kids and they sleep inside w/ us and go for rides.
By the way the only reason no one is upset about the other dog bites out there is because the journalist are not putting it on the news everytime a golden retriever bites a child.
Parents need to be held accountable for what there children do and when there children hit at fences and make a dog go crazy then do something w/ the parents.
These dogs are totally misunderstood by the general public and the media has not presented the truth about these dogs. You are in the position to make a huge difference in the lives of many of these brave and beautiful beings. Thank you.
Our pitbull is very protective. He loves and adores our 16 month old son. I would never feel threatened with our pit around our child. They need more attention that most other dogs. They are a very dominate breed.

I am a respectable proud owner of two very beautiful APBT's my brother and father have bred this wonderful breed for 25 yrs.and I know from experience that APBT's are a very loyal and loving breed and always has lots of love give. " Ban the people who turn them into what everyone is afraid of! Not the breed !!!
APBT Lover For Life!
I live in Clifornia, the mecca of pitbull hating...and I am sick of it.If there is a problem with a pit-bull it is usually the owner's fault. So why do people freak out? Is it their name? PITBULL sounds so scary to ignorant people, doesn't it? What about cocker spaniels, or dalmations? They bite people all the time, but nobody cares because they are "cute". I don't believe that people who have never even seen a pit should be deciding if they are good or bad, I on the other hand have had part in fostering well over 20 of these magnificent animals and have never experienced a problem with aggression. People need to worry about irresponsible owners of ALL breeds! Maybe then they could wxperience the joy of owning one of these wonderful dogs.
I am also sick of people in the news media only talking about the negative side of PitBull, tellpeople hte truth.PiyBulls are the most loving dogs there is.No tyey arent a poodle, which is more apt to bite than a PitBull.I have had all types of breeds, everything from muts to poodles;German Shepards, which I alsolove.Too make a long dtory short the heart of the PitBull is love, and we demand to hear it!
I don't even like dogs but I hate the bad rape pit bulls get. My daughter & brother have both owned them and were forced to part with sweet good natured pets. Sure their intelligence and strength makes them a good choice for people looking to cause problems. In a good home pits can be excellent pets.
I LIVE IN SOUTH FLA. AND BECAUSE OF THE MEDIAS MISINFORMATION , HALF TRUTHS AND LIES, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO OWN ONE AND TRY TO FIND A PLACE TO LIVE. IN DADE COUNTY (MIAMI) IT IS ILLEGAL TO OWN ONE.IT'S IRONIC HOW THE CUBANS WHINE AND CRY , SCHEME AND SCAM TO COME TO AMERICA IN THE NAME OF FREEDOM AND THEN MAKE THE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER ILLEGAL.THE PROBLEM IS BREEDERS SHOULD BE MORE SELECTIVE WHO THEY SELL TO AND STOP SELLING TO THESE LOW-LIFE IGNORANT NIGGERS,WIGGERS AND SPICS WHO TRY TO MAKE UP FOR SMALL PENIS'S AND EVEN SMALLER BRAINS BY HAVING A RAP VIDEO PIT BULL. UNTIL THE A.P.B.T. RETURNS TO BEING TO GOOD FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO OWN , LIKE IT WAS BEFORE THE TURN OF THE CENTURY,THERE WILL ALWAYS BE PROBLEMS.IF YOU SELL/BUY PIT BULLS YOU SHOULD READ RICHARD STRATTON'S/THIS IS THE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER.
I have owned my pit bull for almost 5 years and she is amazing! I also have two young daughters and she has never shown an aggresive personality! She listens beter then any dog I have ever owned or met and is very sweet! She loves people and other animals! It would truley be a shame to kill these poor animals because of the life styles their brought up in! The BAD owners need to pay, not the dogs! I would welcome anyone to come meet our dog and see for themselves how amazing she is!!!!!
My Tulsa is a rescued APBT. I've only had her a few months but she has already exceeded in obediance and now we are working on THERAPY and agility. I also have a young son, and Tulsa would die for him. SHe is incredibly freiendly with other dogs and cats , she LOVES children and puppies. Tulsa participates in doggie daycare where i work. I love meeting people that comment on how well behaved she is and then they ask her breed and are "shocked" that she is a "PIT BULL". I explain that that's the breed most endearing trait. These dogs were bred to love people. I am a dog groomer and come in contact with and average of 50-60 dogs A DAY. you are more likely to be bitten by a cocker spaniel or pekingese.
I own a rednose pit bull. My pit wouldn't harm a fly...seriously. No dog is a bad dog, bad owners make them that way. They better show how pitbulls also can be good unless you plan on showing other dogs biteing people cause it does happen you know!
I have 3 pitbulls and they are very friendly. I can't find any reason why anyone would need to ban this wonderful breed. I see the news showing these attacks when half the time its some MIXED breed dog not an AMERICAN PITBULL TERRIER!! I think any dog can bite or attack someone depending on how they are raised.....so I say PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED!!! Please try to understand why we love our APBT's!!
