DO YOU THINK THAT A CERTAIN % OF THE POKIES REVENUE PAID TO THE South Australian STATE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE DIVERTED TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL LIVE MUSIC INDUSTRY THAT THE LEGISLATION DECIMATED SO SEVERELY MORE THAN 13 YEARS AGO?

What price culture? Where for example can young performers in this state hope to further their skills? The gigs are gone. Not only is there no "Apprenticeship" scheme for this business if we're not very careful we may lose those skills.

Perhaps if enough response is achieved and you sign this petition, we may have enough agreement to Lobby one "Anti-Pokies" MP and get something done.

Or if not perhaps we should be seperating the entertainment entitlements. Monty Ruggiero who owns The Cavern Club in Adelaide is trying to get new legislation passed to make it so venues that have pokies can't have bands and stuff too, but pokie free venues can. That way we go back to the big crowds that used to be there for the music, and those venues can afford to have more bands day and night. Because I am a muso of 15 years, and I live in a small town called Port Lincoln, SA. Now that the goddam pokies have taken over, there is simply no places for gigs. What used to be used as band areas are now taken up with these infernal machines. And therefore, it is killing not only my pay, but now there is simply no live bands to go and see on the weekends. Oh, we do have a "nightclub" but thats only for Ecstasy users who listen to doof-doof and no not want to hear bands. And I'm telling you can almost smell the air of desperation in the are in the pokie areas. Death to Pokies!

I support this petition. Obviously I didnt know how to access this well. So a primary comment is due after just saying yeah no pokies! My Mom and a few in my family have had problems with pokies. Its not due to them wanting to spend money. It's an absense of having focus. No hobbies, lack of love in their life. I dont see how entertainment can circumvent that...but more wonderful clubs could. Clubs that include family and entertainment...and even accommodate pokies but at a fleeting level. UK clubs seek to entertain the whole family....with standup comedy, bingo, other games, kids stuff. Why cant Adelaide have a big juicy entertainment centre and make use of its foreshores/beaches as well? Make a new Blackpool or Yarmouth you dolts? Honestly...we have way better beaches than anywhere in the world and we have nothing but esplanades and Glenelg...that is riddled with apartments...get creative. No, its not necessary. Go to Wales or anywhere along an interesting UK coast and freaking DO something that we want to see and enjoy. The seaside is boring....so expand for godsakes! And that should include new music!
