Ellie exemplified what a professional athlete should be on and off the field. He was a true class act.

Let's start recognizing human beings instead of stat lines. But, if it helps, Ellie had the lowest ERA in Oriole history.

Ellie was a true gentleman of the game of baseball and someone I am proud to have known both on and off the field. I treasure my memories of Ellie trying to sneak up behind me on the field and hug me. Ellie was sorely missed last season - by both friends and fans alike. Peter Angelos should be ashamed for having ignored Ellie's passing. Will Angelos do the right thing and retire his number? Probably not - there's no money in it for him. "Peace" Ellie (that was his way of autographing things to me and countless others).

My son is a college catcher. I hold Ellie Henricks up to him as an example of all that is good about being a ball player and also all that's good about being a man. Ellie deserves this honor.

Elrod represented all that was good about Baltimore Baseball.

Do something special to honor this wonderful man. Retire his number, for sure. Put up a statue or monument. Don't rename the bullpen the Ellie Pen. That's silly. Mr Hendricks was a warm, giving person who was always a bright light in this world. He deserves a fitting and lasting memorial.
