During the past three years there has been incredible developement in the Meat Packing District which borders the West Village. As a result of this developement, the transgender prostitutes (that formerly slithered along the Westside Highway) have made Horatio Street, Little Hudson and West 13th their new stomping grounds. Corporal Serevelli park (Which borders these streets and acts as a playground for Young Adult Institute for Retarded Citizens) is now infested with Transgender prostitutes that ply their trade openly from 9:00pm-7:00am. Despite, several phone calls per day to the Sixth Precinct, NOTHING, is done. If the cruisers even respond to the call, they drive right by. They do not stop, they do not attempt to move them along, they certainly do not arrest them, hell they dont even turn their heads. They drive BY!!!! Captain Fitzgerald and Sergeant Griffin have not made the efforts that are required to rid our neighborhood of this infestation. Aside from the health hazards, ie.....defecating in the streets between cars, dirty condoms strewn about the playground, needles....our security is now being threatened by the element that these prostitutes draw in. Robbery's in our neighborhood have sky rocketed. We are forced to replace our broken locks bi monthly and chase hookers and their Johns out of our vestibules and garden.

Quality of Life STINKS in the sixth precinct and civilian complaints are being ignored flagrantly by those who could implement change.

We want our neighborhood back and we will fight to get it. There is a community board meeting on Monday, August 9 at 7:30pm at the New School. This meeting will be attended by Mayor Bloomberg and Commissioner Ray Kelly. We will present our petition and publically demand that they ARREST, CONVICT and REMOVE this scurge from our neighborhood.

Our apartment faces Horatio, right across from the park. The noise from their fighting, bottle breaking and calling out to each other wakes us up many nights. When they hang out on the stoop, the cigarette smoke even wafts up into our apartment. One early morning we heard screaming and crashing trash cans and we were afraid that someone was being attacked. We called the police - they never came! Turned out to be one of the prostitutes fighting with his/her john but the police never even bothered to check things out. This is a disturbing, disgusting problem that really deserves more attention from the police.

please help us clean our neighborhood up major. it's embarrassing bringing our loved ones to the village to visit our homes, especially when there are young children involved who are at the age of asking questions. i want my home to be a great place inside and out. i live on 30 horatio and this is the street not only the hookers walk but the car drive looken for them. also there pimps who watch over there money makers. it's scary if i have to leave my apt. late at night, with these transgender prostitutes yelling at each other and their johns. they disturb the beautiful village reputation. thank you.

I am a teenager who plays in the park and lives directly across from it. Prostitution is illegal and it is not a victimless crime. Pimps are scary, their guns are scary and the mess they leave on our playground is DISGUSTING. I just want our neighborhood to be safe again. Where are the police?

As a new member of the west village community and a supporter of historic preservation, i find this element to not only be intrusive on and dangerous to the daily routine of the residents in this area, but completely contrary to the charm, character and importance of a historic district. We are not living here only for the glamourous nigthlife and proximity to the river, but more importantly for the rich and unique history of our community. The lack of a response from law enforcement only furthers the disrespect that currently exisits, to us as residents and those who visit...

There have always prostitutes in this neighborhood(firts hand knowledge of the last 40 years). It would be a change for the better not to have any on the street corners when I go to work in the morning.

I have lived on Greenwich St 16 years, and there was always some prostitution problem, but the last five or six years have been dreadful! Why don't the police make it stop? I just don't understand.

I'd also like to point out that gay and STRAIGHT prositutes ply their trade up and down 14th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues as well! I too have called numerous times and note when the police do drive by, that's all they do, drive by. The "girls" just laugh at them and so do their johns.

they are very loud, scary and sub human. i dont understand why they would pick a children's park to service their johns in. shouldnt that be reason enough to remove them? If not for us, do it for the children! do the children need to play in a park riddled with needles, condoms and human feces?
