Protest FIFAs ban on International soccer in Bogot...
Published May 31, 2007
On May 27, 2007, Joseph Blatter, president of FIFA, announced that international soccer was banned at cities above 2,500 mts.
What does this mean?
This means Ecuador cannot play international soccer in its capital of Quito anymore.
This means Colombia cannot play international soccer in its capital of Bogota where close to 7 million people reside!
This means Bolivia cannot play international soccer in its biggest city of La Paz (nor in 6 of its 9 biggest cities where close to 80% of its people reside!)
This means Peru's Cienciano will never again have an international Home game.
This means clubs like Ecuador's Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito or El Nacional, Colombia's Millonarios or Independiente Santa Fe, or Bolivia's Bolivar, The Strongest, and other 6 of its 12 First Division teams will not be able to play home games.
This decision by FIFA alienates over 10 MILLION people in South America alone and is completely against FIFAs mission of ensuring the UNIVERSALITY OF SOCCER!
This group is for all those people who think that:
EVERY HUMAN BEING HAS THE RIGHT TO PRACTICE SPORTS IN THE PLACE WHERE HE OR SHE IS BORN
It is a basic right of humanity.
