Everybody has the righ to play any sports no matter the altitude of the place. There are more risks on other sports, like race cars, cycling and extreme sports.
Soccer is passion, and that shoud not been taken away from anybody, especially based on democraphic location. We Ecuadorians and all the South American countries that share the Andes will always be on high grounds and they should be able to play on them. It is without a doubt the one of the stupiest things I have ever heard, baning some stadiums because they are too high.
for more than i can remember the colombian soccer team has played normally in bogota and also all colombian teams have played there... actually at high altitudes they work more in their cardio..
I am from Bolivia, but live in santa cruz which is an area that the FIFA has not banned and the new FiFa law actually benefits us. HOwever, I believe that it is unfair, morally wrong and unjustified to not allow international games at cities above 2,500mts. Soccer is a game BOlivia loves, and everyone should be able to host an international game.
It will be also very dangerous for the swiss people who also live in the middle of the alps, we will have to evacuate them along with Mr. Blatter.Soccer, an Universal sport?
Hey altitude is part of the culture of those countries, just play the game! I mean heat can also cause health problems, should that mean that there should be a limmit placed as to how hot a place can get in order for it to be dangerous to play? Same with cold and other geographical factors.
How about we ban international matches where the temperature is above 30 Celcius? Heat is much more dangerous than altitude. See how Brazil y Argentina like that...
I think it's not right....you shouldn't just see the sport but also the people that enjoy it....I'm from Germany and I think it's just fair that everybody can play soccer in his hometown.
Como puede ser que despues de 50 años sea peligroso jugar en la altura.Es una falta de respeto con paises y con millones de personas, solo para agradar a Brasil, que es el unico que llora a la hora de ir a la Paz.
If 2500 mts were a problem to the soccer players, any team could not play in this fields.... I have not heard any player die playing in any of this fields.
Football is universal and since the beginning of football people have been playig everywhere and it did not matter where they were playing this beautiful game.
I can't believe Joseph Blatter is so ignorant! I have raced in my bike at 5300 above the sea level in Chacaltaya and there is nothing wrong with it. The world just has to wait until all these people die to start making some progress.
I´m Brazilian and a hate this decision! C.R Flamengo cry's and FIFA accepted his will. I hate Flamengo!! They sucks! FIFA can't do this!!! South America lose with this decision!
Their credibility as a world organization is at stake. With this band they will be looked as major league baseball and major league football for their lack of world competition yet world claim.
