I support this petition. Please don't waste all that went into Superman Returns - Routh is this generation's true Superman, Spacey the best Lex ever, and Singer the right man to make them come alive on the silver screen! For the love of Superman and the future of its franchise, please keep Bryan Singer & Brandon Routh on board!
I'm usually more of a Batman guy. When Superman Returns trailers hit my TV, I said, "Eh, it looks cool." Little did I know how amazing it truly was. Brandon Routh played the nerdiest Clark Kent and the most honorable Superman. Ever since my first viewing, I have eagerly awaited a sequel, but now I hear that it'll be rebooted instead? And thanks to the wild success of Batman no less? This is utterly ridiculous. Superman doesn't need a reboot. SR was its reboot. Batman needed a reboot after Batman and Robin, but to believe Superman needs one after Superman Returns is atrocious. I realize that many fans thought the movie lacked action and was boring, but the movie had to set up the story. This sequel is a chance to deliver the action fans missed from the first one. In the end, it's not my call, but I can say for certain that if the decision to reboot is chosen over a sequel, there will be a lot of angry fans to be dealt with.
Before Superman Returns, I could hardly consider myself a Superman fan. SR is what gave me my current obsessive love for the Superman character along with the mythos. Brandon Routh is the defining Superman of out generation and I couldn't picture anyone else in those tights. SR was just an establishment into the Superman universe, and the sequel could put all these characters into the wildest situations that are possibly imaginable. We don't want to see Superman reboot, we want to see it continue.

Bryan Singer did the right thing in anchoring the plot of his film from what was already established by the Donner/Reeve version which would always remain the classic standard to which all Superman reincarnations would be compared to. WB, you do not need to reboot the film. Please don’t shrink away from the challenge of creating a sequel to Superman Returns that would resolve the questions left unanswered by the film and could only be addressed by a continuity stemming from it. Donner & Reeve were able to bring such magic to the big screen in the late 1970’s, and so will Singer & Routh if only you let them continue what they started.
WB, if it’s monetary rewards that you’re concerned about, deviating from the true essence of Superman to suit today’s craving for unintelligent/mtv-inspire d dark material would probably earn you profit, but it would be short-lived. It’s the standard classics that prove to be persistently successful in the long run. (Just look at the video/dvd sales you’ve made with the Donner/Reeve version of Superman.). It would be great to add more breathtaking action scenes in the next Superman film, but in doing so you need to maintain an intelligent script where all aspects of wit, adventure, romance and conflict all compliment each other. Superman is not all about dark nonsensical violence & cynicism. Superman is all about integrity, intelligence, genuine goodness, love, hope, resilience and perpetual morality prevailing even in the worst of situations – the magic formula which keeps us in awe & makes us all feel good and hopeful when we are witnessing his iconic adventures whether they be on comic books, fanfiction, television or on film.
Our family and friends support this petition: “We say no to a Superman reboot. And we support Brandon Routh’s return as the Man of Steel.”
For the love of Superman and the future of its franchise, please keep Bryan Singer & Brandon Routh on board. Also, please keep the John Williams’ theme (Much better, hire him to provide additional musical score for the next installment.). From an intellectual standpoint, it would not have been creatively challenging at all if Bryan Singer & company did a reboot from scratch (But to start the film's plot from where Superman The Movie & Superman 2 have left off was just pure genius -- something intelligently unpredictable that only a few people would have thought of). And the decision to cast Brandon Routh was no mistake at all. We all love & respect Christopher Reeve's portrayal of Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman. We can't think of anyone else worthy of carrying on the legacy that Christopher Reeve has left to the Superman franchise, not until Brandon Routh came along. As for the character of Lois Lane, we do not object to a recast. (Maybe you should take more time and care in finding a better actress more suited to play the role. Just keep in mind the painstaking effort and process they went through in the 1970’s before casting Reeve & Kidder.)
WB, please learn from the past (Just imagine how many brilliant Superman movies we could have had with Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder, if only Richard Donner & Tom Mankiewicz remained as the creative guardians of the franchise.) Superman Returns may not have had so many action scenes that majority of other typical mediocre movies have today, but its collective scenes whether dramatic, comedic or fast-moving make one exceptional film that engages both mind & heart. Bryan Singer did the right thing in anchoring the plot of his film from what was already established by the Donner/Reeve version which would always remain the classic standa
I support this petition. Brandon Routh did a fine job of fitting into the iconic character's role and deserves another shot. Brian Singer should also be given some credit for getting a Superman film, which could not get out of studio development for close to twenty years. X2 was great and if given the chance, I'm sure Brian Singer could make an SR follow-up epic.
The Donner film universe (Superman I & II) created a world and continuity that is as classic as any other sci-fi/fantasy film ever committed to celluloid. Singer picked up that legacy, paid homage to it, and took us somewhere new. Don't reboot. Give Singer another chance to show what he had in store for his favorite hero and ours! Bring Routh Back along with the director that discovered him. Superman isn't Batman. He's Superman. Singer understands that. Routh understands that. That FANS understand that. It's my prayer, that you, the executives at Warner Bros. will learn to understand that too...before you alienate your audience and ruin a young franchise ready to mature.
I support this petition. Oh do I ever! Brandon definitely deserves the chance to play Superman again. His was definitely the most realistic and human portrayal I've seen.
The greatest tragedy here isn't that we're not getting a Superman Returns sequel. It's that we won't ever get to see Routh flesh out the role of Superman to the fullest extent. He deserves to get that chance, even if it's not in a sequel to SR.
Bring Routh back.
I've been waiting for that sequel since I got out of the theater after watching SR. All the elements are there to make it a matture and meaningful movie. Give it the action, keep the heart is already has. And for the love of God, don't recast!
I support this petition and I support Brandon Routh, Bryan Singer, and the continuation of the saga that was begun with Superman Returns! Bring on The Man Of Steel in 2010!
I support this petition.
If the next one is not the sequel to SR, that's one reason gone for me not to watch it. If Brandon is not Superman in the next film, there won't be any reason left for me to watch it. = One less ticket for WB to sell at a box office. Period!
I support this petition.
Superman has very good people working name Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh. I don't think he'd be happy if you got rid of him. After all this movie has Richard Donner's blessing.
I support this petition.
It would be very foolish to reboot Superman! Bryan and co. have created a rich storyline and now is a bad time to just leave it like this.
I support this petition. Brandon is perfect for the role, rebooting the series after it made money is just stupid. People like him, if anything, reboot the writers.
I support this petition. Brandon Routh is Superman now. A reboot is ridiculous and just plain stupid, period. Superman Returns may not have been a runaway hit like The Dark Knight, but it actually grossed MORE than Batman Begins worldwide. Sure budget comes into play a bit, but as far as the general public is concerned, that means it had a wider initial audience. Hardly a failure. It definitely has potential for a SMASH sequel. X-Men 2 anyone? Give Singer another chance. If not, at the very least, Routh IS the Man of Steel. No matter what, don't take him away from the fans. Oh and one more thing, newsflash WB, Superman is NOT dark!
I support this petition. And I sincerely hope that these rumors are just rumors. After all of this with Harry Potter. I'd hope they would have better sense. There are ways to make both the fanboys and the rest of the audience happy. Ways to make a Superman film with enough action to make the boys happy, yet intelligent enough and thoughtful enought to please the rest of us.
Please see sense. Remember the bitter complaints all of you had last year on the money you didn't make (and it did make a good amount of cash, if you're realistic) and be aware that it will likely cost *more* to completely reboot again. If you want the hero, if you want the powers to be 'real', you pay the money.
That and there are some of us out there that want to know what will happy to Richard White and Jason.
As a long-life Superman, I beg you to reconsider any possibilities of reboot this series. I've never seen you do something this foolish (remaking a recent film) and I hope I never do.
