If Abdul Rahman were to be put to death simply for becoming a Christian then it would be a serious violation of Afghanistan's constitution which states, "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance." This action would not be fair.
I am a secular humanist. I was free to make this choice at the age of 13. Abdul should also be free to make the choice that he dis. We are all born free, it is only the evil in others that puts us in chains.
What did the military and subsequent humanitarian actions in Afghanistan amount to, if this kind of barbarism is still ALLOWED by the Afghan judiciary and IGNORED by western governments?
I support this petition. A believer under penalty of death is no believer at all. What you are enforcing is not faith, it is submission. Make the right decision.
I have long been a supporter of Massoud's dream for a just Afghanistan. Please do not shatter the hopes of people united the world over in their support of the New Afghanistan.
I support this petition wholeheartedly. Mr. Rahman is one of countless persecuted Christians worldwide who suffer under the tyrrany of Islam. We in the American church support his faithful struggle to serve God, even in the face of death.
