I support this petition. Please don't let Freedom of Religion die !! Or we can sit there doing nothing, let the Islam kill a man that have faith in his belief and insist on his right to choose his religion, the world will know Islam is not a religion but a cult.
I support this petition. One may sign a declaration speaking loudly of love, forgiveness, and tolerance for his breathern but without knowing Jesus it can not be so. Pray!
I support this petition. If this man is even found guilty and sentenced to community service as opposed to the death penalty, then what have we changed? What have our troops DIED for?
I fully support this petition. Religious laws have NO PLACE in this day and age; this fuckin' dogma against apostasy should be purged from the face of this globe’s progressive agenda.
To hell with this law, and this filthy tradition, no faith should be allowed to dictate the harmless and essential will of every individual. Such archaic laws are the reason why religion is taking a lashing; give individuals like Abdul Rahman their due rights to free choice, and rights to exercise that choice.
Whether he lives or dies, Abdul Rahman has stood for Him who saved his eternal life. God bless him.
That said, I have friends and colleagues working with Canadian forces in Afghanistan at this moment, trying to bring peace and stability to that country. Some of these soldiers are Christians themselves.
What an opportunistic abuse of Islamic hospitality it would be, if the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan invites and welcomes Christians to shed their own blood in order to keep Afghans safe and help them build a stable country, and then to turn around and execute a man for exercising the very right these soldiers put on their uniforms in their own country to protect.
What kind of country do you want to build? If this is what it will be, then you can do it without Western help.
While I do not support neo-Crusaders and false forms of Christianity, I urge the people of Afghanistan and Muslims everywhere to allow Abdul Rahman and other Christians the freedom of conscience promised in your own scriptures. The Qur'an plainly states that there must be no compulsion in matters of religion (as in Surah 2:256, 16:82, 42:48, and 88:21-26). You accuse Mr. Rahman of apostasy, yet are you yourselves not in danger of condemnation by the words of your own book? Are you not in danger of committing apostasy through compulsion and persecution? Let God be the judge. If you truly believe that the Almighty is All-Merciful, then you must show mercy in this life in order to receive mercy on that great and terrible Day of Judgment we all can agree is to come. With best wishes, Salaam.
I support this petition. Understanding that cultural differences exist, the fact that the Taliban was ejected and your government is in power should require you to eliminate the sharia compulsion to murder non-muslims. This is barbaric, and is recognized as such by the rest of the non-Muslim world.
I support this petition. You are in grave error, denying Mr. Rahman his freedom of choice, freedom of Religion, and Freedom of conscience. Separation of Religion and State forever.
The Afghan Constitution protects freedom of religion. The judge in question is a Taliban leftover.
Save Abdur Rahman (and get rid of this judge while you're at it)!
I support this petition. I do NOT agree with a 'pardon' for Abdul Rahman, as he has committed no offence. The case must be thrown out, and Rahman compensated for the mental anguish he has been put through. Since his life will be made misery in Afghanistan, I hope a western country will invite him and his family to make a new life.
As a Christian and a consumer-advocate for the mentally ill, I support this petition. If they do let Brother Abdul go as mentally ill, what will they do with him? As a survivor
of the "bad old days" of our own treatment of those with brain disorders, I can just imagine the tortures they would put him through for the rest of his life.
I support this petition. MR. RAHMAN! When we began this war on terror, it was to preserve western civilization as well as to prevent another 9/11 type event from taking place. Our armed forces have performed magnificently to that end and I am immensely proud of them. One of the goals of our war on terror was to encourage Islamic nations to form western style democracies. However, it is becoming clear that Islamic law and Islamic religious beliefs continue to rule the day in these countries when all is said and done. Why is the USA expected to rebuild moslem mosques with money from a largely Christian population and yet the Afghans can't see their way to allow a man to worship the god of the country who has saved them from the bondage of the Taliban?
I support this petition. Freedom of conscience is important to any modern country. If those of another faith who convert to Christianity are killed, then the logic follows that those who convert to Islam should likewise be murdered. This would be a heinous and barbaric result. I have read the Koran and according to Muslims whom I have known and respected, there is no rquirement that someone be held a prisoner in a religion with which he does not believe, and, particularly, be murdered when he has the courage to publicly announce those convictions. It is my understanding that the accused did not bring attention to himself in this case, but it was brought to the attention of the authorities by his own family who had a custody grievous against him. Afghanistan must respect others beliefs if it is to take its place in a community of nations which values democracy.
I support this petition.
American men and women have given their lives to free the Afghan people from the terrorism of the Taliban. Have they shed their blood in vain? Will Afghanistan execute a man merely for believing in Jesus Christ? If so, then the blood of our soldiers will cry out for revenge from the very ground upon which it was shed.
I support this petition.
The precious lives of people from many countries and of many different faiths have been sacrificed in order to establish freedom and democracy in Afghanistan. Hopefully, this was not done just to replace one intolerant, brutal regime with another. Mr. Rahman is in my prayers and in the prayers of people of faith throughout the world.
I support this petition. Save this brave guy, shame on those who want to murder him since he is innocent. His only sin is to be brave enough to act as a free men.
I support this petition. If Abdul Rahman is put to death he will join a large number of Christians who died for their faith and he will inspire others to remain faithful when the going gets tough.
I support this petition. Americans fought for a free Afghanistan, and that is exactly what Afghanis deserve. Freedom. Including Mr. Rahman. My prayers are for him at this time.
I support this petition.
It is a weak, feable god who depends on fear and retaliation to maintain a following. Only a willing heart is a true believer.
Let Abdul Rahman go.
The logical conclusion if they kill this man is that everyone who converts to Islam should also be killed.
Man cannot dictate the conscious of others by outward manipuulation but rather by inner persuasion.
I support this petition.
Freedom of Religion is an essential human right. I realize that Sharia law doesn't recognize the concept of this or any other "human rights". This is precisely why Western values are superior to those of Sharia Islam. Yes... SUPERIOR. Letting a man choose his own way in his religion is obviously a higher value than forcing him to your will on pain of death. Radical Islamists continue to separate themselves from the modern world with actions like these. If they don't start to recognize that everybody has a right to live their own lives, their own way, very soon, then they will go the way of the other dinosaurs - extinct. Wise up. Let this man live with his own religion in peace.
