Rap is the worst... I can only assume that each released rap song is created within the span of 1-3 days. I am very fluent with synthesizers and computer based beats, and to create a beat for an entire rap song would take me at the most... 2 hours. The english vocabulary is one the biggest on earth. There are so many synonyms to use in order to make a point rhyme... Rap is now beyond synonyms and now uses slang and words that don't even exist. Anyone who likes rock or metal has heard of metallica. Any metallica fan has heard their song "one" That song has a very sophisticated guitar solo and takes years... no....fuck that... When rap was created, like punk, it was a small community that would gather together with an interest in music. Talent was secondary but many did talent, it was about expressing onesself mainly. Used as a way for black people living in poor communities to express themselves. Many of them didn't have much money to buy instruments they would mix beats.
I know many black people that listen to rock. A lot of rap wouldn't exist if it wasn't for rock. Most of the beats are 'borrowed' from many genres including blues, jazz and rock. Rap was never about the beat, it was about the lyrically content.

I think rap is tight. all the lyrics aint that good but there are a lot of hot beats. there are also some great lyricists who tell stories through their rap. Not everybody is a commercial rapper talking about money, cars, and jewels. And even if they do rap about that stuff people love the catchy lines it sells so they keep doin it.
