HIS STORY:
Hi, I would like to begin by introducing myself. I am a twenty-one year old male resident of New Jersey, and have been for the past twenty years of my life. I am of an Egyptian background, and I am the oldest of five children. My siblings were all born in New Jersey. I was born in Egypt, and as an infant came on my mother's passport. I was brought over illegally and as an adult I found out the seriousness of my legal status. I have lived here all my life, and this is the only country I know. I was a student at Rutgers University, with good academic standing, but was forced to drop out because of the complications of citizenship, grants and loans. I have a clean record and never have been in trouble with the law. To me Egypt is a foreign country, and if I were to be forced back, I would be arrested, and forced into mandatory army enlistment. I can speak a little bit of Arabic, but cannot read or write it. I would not be able to communicate well enough to seek any kind of schooling or work in Egypt. I would most likely end up on the streets at the mercy of strangers. I have no known family to me out there.
