Father Tom
In his mid forties, Father Dennis is Joe's younger brother, he arrived on the Street in June 2004. He's known by all and sundry as "Tom" (his middle name).
Tom's a deeply religious man without being a boring "God-botherer" type. Faith and the teachings of the Bible are living things for Tom, things that can be used to help those in need. He's a maverick who thinks with his heart and is easily swept up in righting wrongs for others. He feels enormous empathy for life's less fortunate.
Passion
Passionate, down to earth and with a wicked sense of humour, Tom knows the Church is not perfect and he's had his fair share of flack from the hierarchy over his sometimes controversial views. He certainly doesn't agree with many of the Vatican's rulings and has been sent to many an unpalatable parish because of it.
Handsome and physically fit, with a knockabout larrikin style that people from all walks of life find instantly likeable, Tom has always caught the eyes of his female parishioners, but would never dream of indulging in sins of the flesh. Until, that is, he met Susan Kennedy. She was the first great temptation of Father Tom's life and he even left the Church so he could be with her. But he never really came to terms with his decision and things didn't work out between them. He was, however, a great support to Susan during her troubled times with Karl.
