I have very few shows on serial record on my DVR and Studio 60 is one of them. So much television is meaningless tripe that appeals to those with below average intelligence. For once we get a show that requires intellect and it is cancelled. Please do not cancel S60. We need intelligent TV.
Please know that high quality TV is hard to come by, and even harder to come by on any of the big three. People are flocking to their cable/satellite options or renting their shows on DVD. People are also being encouraged to turn off their TVs altogether. This is why I find it so difficult to believe that NBC would want to deliberately take off "Studio 60," an amazing show with smart writing that people have waited for since...early "West Wing." It's thought-provoking, entertaining, very well acted, & the best new show of the season. Many people I know are turning off their TVs, but tuning in to "Studio 60"!
Dear NBC Executives,
Please don't underestimate the intelligence of your audience. We've been craving intelligent thought-provoking shows such as Studio 60. You’re on the cutting edge of providing shows such as this and moving away from the inane and unbearable. Don’t cancel the show. We care about these characters whether it’s an industry-based episode, a relationship-based episode, or both. Thanks.
Jana
Studio 60 was the only show which filled the blank left by West Wing. It was an intellectual show about more than just half-naked people and controversy.... and that's hard to find these days.
This is the best show on TV right now, the writing is brillant, its intellegent, engaging, funny, and addictive. That and the production value is superb, each episode is a feast for the eyes.
I hope Wes' words don't ring completely true..."There's always been a struggle between art and commerce. And now I'm telling you, art is getting its ass kicked."
Didn't think I would like this show, but I started watching mid-season and the writing is really great. If this show is allowed to stay on the air I believe more people like me will start to drift towards it. It does need another lead-in, though--"Heroes" is too different.
I feel like the people, the characters are real. I care about them and what happens to them.
Conflicted and passionate the stories give me something to look forward to each week and I believe
the show deserves the time and support it needs to be discovered by more viewers.
Studios have given "certain" shows time to develop, while dumping others with no good reason. Every great show does start out of the gate as a smash. Taxi didn't . Hill Street Blues Never Would have made history if the season one ratings were all that counted. Aaron Sorkin has proven that he can repeatedly deliver great shows. In my opinion, he's just come from a cast 7 production team (West Wing) that instantly jelled and scripts that instantly clicked, and is not there consistantly with "60"... yet. You can see him trying different dynamics, different episode structures. But do you stop giving Hemmingway his book deals???? No.
You let him work it out, because genuises always do. Heros and all the other "instant hits" were given much bigger promo budgets (and you know it), are essentially simple minded, simple plotted, dumb-dialogue shows. They're easy to crank out Expensive, but creativly easy:
•"Some cute special effects,
•bad fake accents spewing platitudes about "destiny" that sound cool but mean mean nothing to an adult,
• a little armageddon... and you have a "hit". For the kids it's fine...It won't last. You want to put your money where the real consumers live, the 35-49 demo, who buy big ticket items (cars plasma TVs etc.), not ipods. Let the show work out it's kinks. The Christmas Episode alone could win the Emmy. Watch it again and have a talk with Aaron.
You cannot cancel this show! It was one of the best shows on television. It is possibly the only intelligent emission left today. The irony that the main characters are trying to save their own show for the very same reasons we are trying to save S60 is quite possibly too much to bear. Save Studio 60!
Please don't cancel Studio 60, I watch it every week & downloaded it on iTunes just so I can watch it over & over!!! This is an amazing show that could easily get more momentum... don't underestimate it!!
I love this show, one of only a handful of greats that the networks have offered over the decades. If you want an audience of intelligent viewers who will really appreciate this show, will watch regularly, and who, coincidentally, have the funds to purchase your advertisers products, then,DON'T CANCEL THIS SHOW. That would piss me off big time.
I love Studio 60. I watch it faithfully like Desperate Housewives. Do not cancel the show. You are making a bad mistake. Give it time, promote it better. Those who have not seen it, are missing a great show. Fix the problem not abandon it. I will not watch the new show in its slot time!
This show has some of the best dialogue I've seen in recent years on TV, and the characters are so real, you can't help but love'm.
There was a time when TV was about putting something out there that people actually liked, not just what would make a quick buck... It's time a network took a stand for quality, not quantity!!
Incredible show. Please keep it. Too bad for the Wilkins that they will be on next dateline predator show if the show is cancelled. Here's a new show. Dateline NBC- Executives share: "How we put our network into the toilet."
Haven't seen writing this intelligent, articulate, and witty since the great shows of the 60's and 70's. Actually, reminds me of those great Preston Sturges scripts - that man could turn a phrase and Sorkin is his successor. Networks used to give a show time to grow an audience. All in the Family wasn't an immediate hit but CBS gave it time and we all know how high that show ranks in the annals of TV. It would be a shame and a waste of money, NBC, if a show of this quality production was cancelled. Maybe HBO would pick it up....
