I hope the irony is not lost: that a show advocating intelligent TV programming is threatened with cancellation because it is too intelligent.
There's already enough drivel out there for the masses. Please leave Studio 60 for those of us who want quality.
Smart, Savvy - Studio 60! I would think the demographic watching such intelligent tv would be worth reaching - regardless of viewership numbers? A larger ROI if you have the correct advertising base reaching us.
This is the only show I look forward to. It's the best thing since 'Six feet under', a show that doesn't patronise it's viewers. Don't let it die... It may take longer to pick up an audience, but that audience will be fiercly loyal... if the ratings have dipped, it's most likely because you've changed the focus of the show to panda to the poor feedback you received.
If you won't keep this show alive, release the whole season on DVD - You can't leave us all hanging half way through the series, it just shows a massive lack of consideration for your viewers. It's not right.
One of the best show ever made. We have a smart, intelligent, good show, something different from what we have seen on tv so far. Cancelling it would mean television is definitely dead and useless (as it is, often).
Show some common sense, and get it back on the air or you're just playing into the stereotype that the big speech at the beginning of the first episode was about.
This show is excellent, and its witty writing creates a 2nd-degree dimension that gives the series its flair. Plus, the talented cast takes the comedy to another level. How can NBC cancel Studio 60, especially after Wes' outburst in the pilot??
This is my favorite show since northern exposure. I think it is a good mix of funny, smart, dramatic and romantic. The cast is great. This show will find an audience if they put it in a good spot then leave it. I think this petition should also be sent to other networks in the hope that someone else will pick it up if NBC makes the mistake of dropping it.
This is hands-down the best show on television right now. Intelligent people need something to watch, too, and this speaks to them. Personally, I think the show needs a better time-slot and some promotion. I didn't even know about it until I watched it. I was just going to watch Heroes from the start, and this happened to come on after. Now Studio 60's the show I look forward to, and Heroes is just the appetizer to the main course. Even if you put this thing on at 3am on Wednesday night, I will watch it. Just keep it on the air!
It is not a smart move by NBC to alienate the most wealthy of demographics, which watch Studio 60. It's a witty show, though in a same but different way than the West Wing, and it has a heck of a cast. There is now a void in Monday night programing since it has been taken off.
My two cents and I am posting this anywhere I find this discussion so I apologize if you are tired of seeing it. Who knows, maybe some of the decision makers actually track public opininon. Here’s mine. So typical, assemble a talented cast, hire writers who can wrap humor, depth and relevance together to present three dimensional characters intelligently, give it half a season to become the next big thing and when it doesn’t spread like a Santa Ana wildfire, replace it with anything that will appeal to the lowest common denominator. As if there could not be a worse show in NBC’s lineup to make room for a new action series with such positive story lines and characters for the youth of America to glorify and emulate. We all realize that this is a corporate bottom line decision but how low will you sink before you have absolutely no self respect left for it to hit home that you have a responsibility to provide a modicum of intelligent thought provoking programming with the abundance of dreck you broadcast day and night. If you need evidence of your contribution to the illiteracy of the American populace, surf the net for blogs and comments on pop culture if you haven’t already done so. There are people in this country who can’t even put together an intelligible sentence and yet have the time to gossip on line about any pop icon that pushes their buttons but can’t find the time to learn how to speak or write intelligibly. Well, I know this isn’t going to make any difference but at least we have a forum in which to vent our frustration.
I LOVED the West Wing, I am equally invested in Studio 60 and many of my firends watch too!! I have NEVER even met anyone who is a part of the Nielsen ratings, and am constantly surprised by the number of really good shows that are cut loose. I hope you give this show a decent shot at staying on the air.
I have watched every episode of studio 60, which is impressive because I usually miss episodes of shows that I like from time to time. I make a point not to miss studio 60
I have been a loyal fan of Studio 60 from the first episode. Even when it's not been aired, I'd tune in until it was clear that it wasn't on. I can't believe that heroes is 'successful' when half the time I can't understand what's being said, and am not always able to watch consistently to read subtitles. At least Studio 60 I could watch, listen, do anything I wanted and follow it, loving every minute. Cancelling this show is a travesty... On the plus side, at least NBC didn't pull a 'Firefly', but still... finish the season...
My husband and I are loyal fans of Studio 60 . It's the only smart, funny and intellectually stimulating show on TV right now. We both support the sponsors and want to know what else we can do to help save this show. We don't get to watch a lot of TV and this program has really drawn us in. I'll bet the demographics would reveal that the types of viewers are more educated than for some of the other shows. (My husband is a surgeon and I am an attorney.) Perhaps the numbers of viewers aren't as high as preferred, but the types of viewers can actually spend more of their income to support the sponsors? Please consider keeping this program on the air!
My wife and I watch Heroes and record Studio 60 to watch later. Committing to two one-hour shows on the same night for a full season is hard work. Ratings have contingencies. It should be placed on another night - Sunday worked well for X-Files, and since this is of a similar caliber, it should work better in that time slot.
I love a show these days that keeps you thinking, that is clever and smart and has great acting. i love the mixture of humor and drama. please bring the show back, anytime I'd watch it.
Please don't repeat the network mistakes of Sports Night and Firefly. Intelligent TV needs to be aired, even for the handful of people that will watch it.
You have a fine show. Please find room for it on an apropriate night instead of fighting a "Lost" clone, that is also entertaining. My DVR only records 2 shows at a time.
It appears you have a very intelligent audience. Why can't you 'see' what we have all seen from the first episode? There are so few quality shows on TV, shows that do not inundate the viewer with blood, gore, sex, or cursing. Finally Studio 60 is on the air, and then it is off, OH good! Now it is on again, oops…now it is off. But the viewers are waiting. The acting is outstanding. The writing hits a new high every episode. I find myself looking forward to Monday evening. Please find a way to keep this wonderful show on the air.
PLEASE bring back my favorite show. Studio 60 and Heroes make my monday evening. They are two of the most original shows on TV right now... you have seriously underestimated the popularity of Studio 60. It's a great show, and deserves to be on the air.
Don't intelligent people get to enjoy tv too? Finally... incredible writing and truly wonderful acting all in one. Sorry NBC but your other shows are lame..and you take away the ONE good one. Bring it back!
I really am dissapointed in the people of america because the majority of america when a show like Studio 60 that has intellegent humor america cant take it and thats because they dont get KEEP IT ON FOR THE SMARTIES
