I support this petition. The Royal Government of Cambodia must know that allowing the filling and eviction of Boeung Kak residents to proceed will remind Citizens of Cambodia that it is still unwilling to assure their basic welfare in the face of powerful interests.
I strongly support this petition. To fill Boeung Kak and displace such a vibrant community is destructive to the human and natural environment of Phnom Penh.
I strongly support this petition. After what the Cambodian people have been through over the years, it's past the time to put the people first. Look after them for they are: Your people - your future - your hope.
I support this petition. A forced eviction will destroy the fragile trust that Cambodian citizens have of their state. Do government officials truly want to be seen as perpetrators of such violence? This will not be a tourist attraction, but a sham deal.
I support this petition. As a former urban planner, this is completely an abuse of eminent domain authority without careful consideration to the welfare of the people and the environment. Shame on the Cambodian Govt. I had originally plan to visit Cambodia as a tourist; this has made me change my decision.
Please consider your image in front of the international community with this forced eviction. Who would want to patronise the resort if they knew its history? "Although little known, Shukaku Inc has been linked in the Cambodian press to Pheapimex, a giant land company owned by ruling party senator Lau Meng Khin". (Andrew Nette, IPS)
I support this petition. Land grabbing should be put to a halt. The job of a Government is to serve and protect the rights of its people, not to put self or commercial interest first.
I strongly support this petition. I reacll eating at restaurants beside the lake with Ministers from the CPP in 1989 and 1990. There was a strong sense of community that must be preserved. Yours respectfully,
Dr Bill Vistarini
I support this petition.
I encourage people to stop this and also the land grabs throughout Cambodia that are victimizing people. The Cambodian Govt. needs to represent its people and not foreign interests.
