Time is running out for Schapelle Corby. A fun holiday to Bali quickly turned nasty for the 27 year old Queenslander late last year when Indonesian customs authorities found 4.1 kg of marijuana in her bodyboard bag. Now she faces the death penalty for a crime of which it seems highly unlikely to be guilty.

A poorly handled investigation and bungles with evidence - both in Indonesia and here in Australia - has made it all but impossible for Schapelle's legal team to prove her innocence. All they can do is cast doubt over the evidence presented by the prosecution, which, it seems, is unlikely to do much to save her from a fate in front of a firing squad.

The probability of the drugs having been planted in Schapelle's bodyboard bag by someone with security access to the baggage handling area is high and it's alarming that our government hasn't done more to help Corby with this in mind.

Alexander Downer, John Howard and even Kim Beasley have all pledged to do what they can, yet in the same breath have each expressed their faith in the Indonesian legal process. Given what we know of the manner in which the trial has been conducted so far, that faith seems questionable at best.

Let's let our government know that we want them to adopt the more proactive and decisive approach Schapelle's case demands. This could happen to any one of us - wouldn't you expect your government to step in if it was you?
