Very telling of the networks value of diverse programming. Would it have really been too much money spent for just a few more episodes, especially since I read that they still under contract??
I am truly disappointed. I looked forward to watching this show after coming home from work. I was able to relate to the characters and enjoyed the story lines which always had witty dialogues.
I can't believe that the network would drop such a long running show like that. I was wondering why my DVR wasn't taping. Shame on you for not giving the show's fan a proper ending.
It is very disappointing to see how very disrespectful these networks are to shows that are important to the African-American community. They would never have the same level of blatant disrespect toward show such as Friends or Sex in the City. It is really disappointing that in this day and age, that racisim still has very strong grip on our society.
It is very sad that the only positive and heck the only african american show on network television is getting cancelled. But it is even sadder that Girlfriend Fans such as myself are not even a little ounce of respect by giving us a proper series finale. Thank You CW for the let down. If it was not for One Tree Hll I would no longer watch your station. This station really needs to realize that there are more race groups out here not just whites.
Please do not cancell this show. There are not many shows out there that attract not only a 20-40 age group but a black 20-40 age group. I have a lot of female friends all races who enjoy this show. With each character you are able to relate in some type of way with them. I recently had a miscarriage and that episode with Mya and Darnell losing the baby, actually helped me. For you to cancell this show is a shame. Please don't allow a show that is so popular to go away. This is the #1 African American show and as you all know, there are not many shows with an all star African American Cast. KEEP GIRLFRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

Please do a proper finale for those fans waiting for the remaining dvds to come out. Why would anyone buy a book with the last 50 pages ripped out? Give us a proper conclusion to this great show.
I do support this petition. The Girlfriend series deserves to have a series finale. All of the cast members have worked hard for the past 8 years. Please allow them to have a final goodbye for themselves and their fans.
I went immediately into morning when I heard the news--not only was one of my favorite television shows ended but also without a proper burial. Girlfriends was one of the fleeting shows that I could identify with. The loyal fans deserve to see it go off the air with the same class the episodes provides us weekly. I am hopeful that CW will see the value in continuing to provide African American programs that has become a distant memory on the other networks. If not, I look to join others who will seek their entertainment elsewhere.
Come on CW, you went through all this trouble to take it from UPN for it to last one season!?! At the very least out of respect for your viewers do a proper series finale.For how much this show drew in an audience to the network for it and it's cast to be treated this way? Time to do right CW!!!

I AGREE!!! It is both direspectful to the fans and talented actors/actresses to CANCEL girlfriends, and to top it off, to cancel without proper season finale!!!
Every week I look forward to a new episode of girlfriends. I was sad when Toni's character left, but I remained interested in the lives of the remaining people. If the show has to be canceled, The least The CW could do is give us a finale. After 8 years of success and now syndication, it is the right thing to do.
If it was absolutely necessary to cancel the show, we understand. We were expecting the show to cancel this season anyway. However, to just end it with no finale. Now that's not right!!! Faithful fans deserve at least that! PLEASE take our pleas into consideration and give us the great finale we know you can...
I agree, GIRLFRIENDS deserve a proper series finale. I am fan who been watching since the show came on. It should get a proper ending. There have been shows that have as long as Girlfriends and they got there proper ending. GIRLFRIENDS deserve theres.
Honestly, I think that this show should NOT be cancelled, but if it is unavoidable, then you MUST give the fans a proper finale. If you keep treating your viewers this way, you're going to lose them, and that's a fact.
The CW should give the fans who have been watching,Girlfriends,sinc e 2000, a proper series finale.Why would the network just abruptly cancel a show that was popular and ran for 8 seasons this way! This show deserves a finale. They better reconsider!

WB - It's becoming painfully obvious how you regard the African American audience, obviously not very highly. Use this chance as an opportunity to keep us watching your network. Our advertising dollars matter too.
