Wow! So is this the treatment of shows and their characters that we should expect in the future from the CW. This is unfair to the viewers that faithfully watched this show since the beginning. I won't ever watch a thing on this network again.
Please bring Toni Childs back for the final episode so that she and Joan can make up. I love that Joan is finally happy but can she please get married it's very dishearting that the show was just cut off the air like that. Friends had a farewell show so did Will and Grace and I was a big supporter of them both don't do that to THE BEST AFIRCAN AMERICAN CAST AND CREW OF GIRLFRIENDS. YOU HAVE ALREADY HURT US BY CUTTING TONI. DO THE RIGHT THING!!!
This was a show I watched faithfully from the beginning to the end. I have even been watching the reruns. I think it is terrible that you guys wouldn't give this show a proper send off. Why would you just leave viewers with a sense of unfinished business? The least you guys could do is have a series finale. This is what CW is about? Why should I watch the other shows? So they can stop abrutply? Please fix this.

I totally agree. I personally am getting sick of all these networks canceling shows and not giving the proper ending. I was a loyal Girlfriends watcher and would like to see some closer to the lives of the characters.
The show is very good....the show could continue with top ratings if you bring Toni back...the chemistry is too great with her included. There are professional adults with the ability to relate to the show

I think it is only appropriete to let a show that has been with us for eight seasons a proper farewell. You wouldn't do this to the cosby show or full house so please let us have a great ending that we deserve. 172 episodes and you can't give us one more?

Please reconsider taken this show off the air. It is very rare that we have positive black shows on TV and Girlfriends was one of the best - showing positive females in their relationships, with their families, and in their careers. It is a real shame that this show is being cancelled. I really hope the CW will reconsider.
I am upset that girlfriends was not given a series final. The CW has all these stupid shows that have no meaning.The two good shows you are going to cancel. I think the CW should review the line up of shows again!
Girlfriends is the Black Sex in the City and has captivated viewers for 8 years, I request the show either have a proper finale or not be canceled at all!
Oh my gosh this is my all time favorite show. I hate that it has to end. I wish it was a soap opera and could come on everyday. But please give us a good season finale. I would love to see Joan
We want more of girlfriends. Why not give us at least 10 seasons! African Americans professional women need our voice and lives portrayed and this show was our one ray of hope to see us as more than the one demensional people the media portrays us as! Don't take the show off the air. You will be losing hundreds of audience memebers.

I am truly disappointed inthe fact that girlfriends will no longer be airing. When I got the information I thought it was a mistake. The few black shows that are out and can be truly enjoyed has been cut with no ending and no goodbyes CW just cut every black show from there all white shows and I feel that we have just been cut out completely mad as hell over the disapperance of a great show whats next!!!!!!!!!!!! GIVE US AN ENDING

Ending the series this way is cheating the actors on the show who invested their lives into these characters, and the dedicated fans who have tuned in weekly for the past 8 years. Why is it okay to axe the African American shows without closure this way? Long running popular Caucasian shows such as Sex and the City, Cheers, Friends, The Nanny, designing Women, and the list goes on and on have always gotten their opportunity to have a proper send off and end their shows with appropriate closure and resolution. I remember a few years back they ended Moesha the same way, with no closure, not to mention HALF and Half last year!!!.
I think it's really an injustice to the overall success of this show if the cast is not allowed to say goodbye to their fans through a finale. When UPN became the CW, I was so relieved and happy that girlfriends was staying around. The only night I watch is Monday night.
it's not right to do them like this it was already bad enough that the cw wouldn't give them the pay raise that they so deserved. In result toni left the show and now you want to cancel the show all together they should be ashamed of their selves the cw just needs jump off a bridge

Please, Please, Please. Don't take Girlfriends off the air. I watch this show faithfully. I feel so lost, no new series to look forward too. I will never get to see Joan settle down and get married. It is very sad to see such a positive uplifting show exit in such a way. This proves that hollywood has not intentions on allowing positive images and great role models last to long. However, I guarantee if there were shooting, killing, and drug slanging the show would still be on air.
