Dear Twilighters and Summit Entertainment:
After watching the highly anticipated movie Twilight, I was left disappointed. The movie did not meet many people's expectations. It was a good movie, but it did not live up to its potential. Catherine Hardwicke's directing skills were terrible and she did not seem to grasp the meaning of Twilight. Her direction was choppy and she made pivotal scenes from the book look unbelievable and cheesy on camera. She did not let the characters develop and grow during the movie, especially Edward and Bella's love story. Also, the other characters were not given justice or given sufficient lines or roles as they had in the book. The actors in the movie should not be blamed for terrible direction. If an experienced director had been hired, some of the actors would have not seemed so out of element for the roles they played. Yes, the movie was made on a low budget and the special effects were not good, but the direction of the movie is mostly to blame. Yes, the movie did extremely well as expected, but it could have surpassed all expectations, and fans like me could have planned to go watch the movie multiple times, instead of just opening weekend. If you want a Harry-Potter like Phenomenon and want to maintain people's interest for the future Twilight sequels, please do justice by finding a NEW DIRECTOR.
