The Kano State Government has awarded a contract for rebuilding of Water Drainage (which is an excellent initiative) along Wudil Road (From the Governmet House to Tarauni/ Maiduguri Road Junction) in Nasarawa GRA. There was an existing drainage which has been filled up with dirt and which collapsed at many points and is virtually non existent.

The new contractor, out of convenience/ or directives in now building the new drainage straight over the path (8°33'20.67"E 11°58'58.31"N; 8°33'32.82"E 11°58'51.48"N {Google earth}) in which about 20 trees (each over 40 years old) will be cut down (and from all indication no substitute trees will be planted) instead of rebuilding over the old drainage. These trees have provided shade for passengers, traders, vehicles in need, and most of all they provide Protection to the Environment.

It is in light of these details that I (and who ever sign this petition) would like to seek the intervention of His Excellency Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau to Save these Trees and authorize the alteration of the Drainage path by a mere 1 to 2 meters.
