"I can't really speak for everyone on Myspace.com, but of the people I know personally on it, this is what I have to say...

Myspace is a place where you can post your "life" or "who you are" on the internet and other people that don't even begin to see who you *really* are can reassure you that you're "cool", that you're "a sexy biatch" or that you "rock their socks".

It's a place where you can spend hours trying to take pictures of yourself alone in your room so you can pop em into Photoshop and post them up on the internet. All so you can reassure yourself that you are attractive. It seems anyone on myspace will tell anyone else they know on myspace that they look "hott!!!1"

Myspace.com is a place where you can join dumb "clubs" like xBHCx to flaunt the fact that Yes, you have recently suffered a dramatic ending to a high-school-level relationship and, Yes, it renders you pathetic to a point where you're running on the fumes from people on Myspace reassuring you that you aren't a ****ty person and that they "luv u" very much (not that they know who you are anyway).

Myspace is where you get to be fake. You get to live a fabricated lie on the backbone of an internet site designed to be an online personals site. It's where you get to be an attentionwhore and try desperately to magnify the drips of self-esteem you have.

I'm tired of people being attentionwhores. I'm tired of people, as nathan says, treating friends like pokemon cards they need to collect. I'm tired of the people in my life being the meat of an enormous, faux self-esteem boosting network. I'm tired of it being so fake. People need to learn to love who they are. People need to be OK with not having a running total, blasting into the hundreds, of how many "friends" they have.
