Free Speech isn't free!
There should be consequences for people who use public airwaves to incite hatred, divisiveness, mysogyny, and fear. Legally, they should be allowed to say things, but damn if they should be able to profit from it. Hold them accountable. Hold their sponsors accountable. And of course, bring back that fairness doctrine.
Don Imus is not the only talk show guru who uses indefensibly racist, sexist and lying invective. Do something about Limbaugh, Coulter, Savage, Beck, Boortz and all the other right wing spewers of hate.
Incredible damage the hate-mongers of the Right foster daily on Talk Shows with huge audiences! They incite hatred throughout the World with pure unadulterated LIES! THEY need to be fired and imprisoned for damage done!

Just as I support PETA, through all their actions I may not agree with, the fact that they get their message to more people, than anyone else, about the horrendous abuse of animals, when they expose those companies that support animal abuse, I no longer support those companies economically.

I fully support this petition. It is high time that something is done to stop the vitriol and hatemongering on too many radio programs. The wresting of control of the FCC from ultra rightwing neoconservatives cannot happen too soon and it is also imperative that the Fairness Doctrine be reinstated.
The miasma of disinformation and mean-spirited commentary spewed forth on AM radio over the last 25 years has destroyed the public discourse in this country. Let's hope the current uproar over Imus's arrogant, rude, and irresponsible comment is only the beginning of a redress across the entire dial, a redress desperately needed by us all.

This should be the beginning to go after all HATE and DEFAMATION on our PUBLIC air waves! Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Michelle Malkin, and many others on the right side need to be accountable for their HATRED as well as Don Imus!! Sheldon Drobny is a hypocrite! As long as right-wing AIPAC idealogue John Loftus remains on the NovaM Network, hate speech is being aired on a daily basis on your new "progressive" network.
Loftus' hates Arabs and Persians and has slandered several innocent people on his show, but this is okay with Sheldon Drobny. What a joke!
I'd take a dozen Imuses over one Loftus any day. If you are reading this and don't know what I'm talking about, listen to the Loftus show and make the decision for yourself as to whether or not this is truly hate speech. It most certainly is propaganda.
Imus should go, but Loftus should also.

I am all for free speech Weiner, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter but on their own time not on the public air waves. Their hatefulness, mean spiritedness, vulgarity, misformation, disinformation and downright lying are NOT the American Way.
There are millions of people in this country that are being “brain-washed” on a daily basis by the likes of Rush Limbaugh and his clones, typically representing the Republican “agenda”. Imus was just a tip of the problem and many of these hosts spew similar lies/hate/bigotry that are left unchallenged. It appears that hate and lies run rampant among these shows and those listeners/viewers hear that garbage. These programs do nothing to educate the public, but rather they create a public that is completely uninformed and misinformed. Therefore, hate, fear and stupidity are the outcome of those shows. Those advertisers that sponsor these shows must know that people are paying attention and will not support those advertisers. According to Daniel Patrick Moynihan “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts.” Now is the time to put an end these divisive programs.
Please support Congressman Maurice Hinchey's Media Ownership Reform Act, which will help stop this sort of thing, and reinstate the Fairness Docrine

Imus, Stern, Savage, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Beck and a seemingly endless bunch of put down specialists have been attacking the defenseless, spreading their vile bile, demeaning our nation and stealing ratings by mis-behaviour with implicit endorsement from management for decades. However it's the advertising buyers, more than even the sponsors or radio/tv executives, that created this cesspool. Stop it. We've had enough debasement to last several lifetimes.
Big media is owned by a handful corporations, one being an military contractor. Most of the media message isn't to inform us of issues of real importance, but focuses on ratings grabbing sensational stories and perhaps even keep the "little" people blaming and fighting each other.
I remember when there were consequences to irresponsible, hateful, intentional misinformation. The FCC only protects the interests of the mega-media corporations while ignoring the vile transgressions of their conservative darlings.
I am Native American and I drew comments from Limbaugh that included the words "smoke signals" "pow wow" and "teepee" in his racist comments about Indians and me.
Publically promoting hate of any kind goes against American values. Sure, we are all free to hate whoever we want to hate. To publically 'egg it on' is just plain wrong.
The treatment for an acid stomach is antacid. We need to get more on-point liberals, like Sam Seder, in touch with more of the liberal American audience. Maybe NovaM?
I ride the bus a lot,(thanks to Bush's gas price windfall), and I have many times noticed young African Americans who (to my eyes and ears) seem to be valiantly trying to survive in tough circumstances. Hate radio does not help young people to see the world with hope. We need the fairness doctrine, and to dump Rush and his clones.

I am tired of the right wing freaks getting a pass with all the hate they spew. I have decided to start protesting to advertisers directly since it seems to do very little good to do otherwise. I hope that this will do some good, but I still intend to contact all advertisers on right wing radio and let them know what they are saying and that I will not be buying products made by them!

As much as I hate the righ wing radicals, I hope they continue to run their mouths for another two years and us Democrats will have no problem getting a Progressive into the White House and stop this rubbish from stacking up.
Let this be the beginning of the end for the radio careers of all of those who seek to spread their hateful ways...Limbaugh, Beck, Savage, et. al. have to go.
I am an 71 year old Native American and hate the word "Redskins", but nothing is done about that. Also, a former republican, but not now. Rush, dopie should be fired as he spreads hate and discontent.
